Bulky waste and white goodsBulky waste and white goods are waste that will not fit into your trash cart, such as mattresses, box springs, mirrors, rugs, etc. These items will be collected by appointment on a weekly basis – residents must call Waste Management at (800) 972-4545 to schedule appointment for collection.

Yard Waste

Leaves, grass, brush are to be separated and set out in unlined trashcans, paper bags or special “earth bags”. Plastic bags containing yard waste will not be picked up and containers shall not be larger than 35 gallons or exceed 60 lbs. All brush must be tied and bundled. No brush in excess of 3” diameter and three feet (3’) in length and must be secured in manageable bundles not to exceed 60lbs. Trash will be collected weekly, and recycling collection will occur every other week. To confirm your recycling collection weeks, please check the Street Listing panel, find your street and note whether your recycling is collected on a Gold or Green week. Then refer to the 2021 Collection Schedule to determine those weeks.

All materials must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

All household refuse must be bagged and placed in the waste cart with the GREY LID. Material may not be sticking out of the cart. Please do NOT place any recyclables in the waste cart.The following items will NOT be accepted:Dirt, sod, concrete or rock, construction/demolition debris, household hazardous waste, hot ashes or flammable materials such as oil, gas or paint.

TrashThe Town has contracted with WasteZero and Waste Management to provide an option for residents to dispose of excess household trash.

Residents should place trash into their standard trash cart however trash that does not fit into the cart can be placed in official overflow bag(s) next to the trash cart for collection on your regularly scheduled collection day.

The official Town of Dedham overflow bags are 30 gallon capacity, yellow bags with the Town seal. Only official overflow bags will be collected. Overflow bags are for excess household trash only. Bags will not be collected if they contain recycling, construction debris, or yard waste.

Overflow bags are $2.00/each and are sold in sleeves of five. As of this date, official bags are available for purchase at the following local retailers:

The week of December 27th (Green) and the week of January 6th (Gold),additional recycling will be collected on your regular recycling day. For these two weeks only, cardboard, paper and other recyclables will be picked up outside of your carts. Recyclables can be put in open barrels, paper bags or boxes to accommodate the overflow from the holidays.

Reminders: Polystyrene and plastic bags of any kind are not recyclable in single stream curbside collection.Any additional containers with trash in it will not be picked up.
