    Installing and servicing a ir conditioning equipment can be ha zardous due to system pressure a nd electricalcomponents.Only trained and qualified service personnel should insta ll or service this equipment.Untrained personnel can perform ba sic ma intenance func tions such as c leaning the c oil and filters, and rep lacing

    filters.All other operations should b e p erformed by trained service p ersonnel.When working on air cond itioning equipment, observe precautions in the literature, tags and labe ls attached to theunit.

    Use the c orrec t voltage.Using voltage other than spec ified will damagethe unit.

    Check the power plug.If the power plug is not inserted tightly, or if there isany damage to the power cord, it could result inleakage or elec tric shoc k.

    Do not use the power cord a s a means of turningoff the unit.

    Before performing service or maintenance operations on the system, turn off the main power of the unit. Elec tricshock can cause personal injury.

    insecticides and other chemical agents.

    To avoid the risk of serious electric shock, neversplash the indoor and the outdoor unit with water.

    Do not put hands or ob jec ts into the d ischarge grilleof outdoor unit.This unit has a fan running a t high speed. It is very dangerousto touch the fan.

    Switch Panel

    UNITON(Green): When the unit is switched on b y the remote c ontrol,a green light will be d isplayed.

    TIMER(Orange) : When the unit is in reservation mod e,an orange light w ill be displayed.

    EMERGENCY button :

    Can be used when the remote c ontrol is lost or inoperative.

    TEST button :

    Is only used by service men to test the unit operation.

    If you press this button, the unit will begin operation. Press thebutton aga in, and operat ion stop s. ( You can hear a receivingbeep. ) If you press this button immediately after turning offthe unit, the compressor will not operate for 3 minutes toprevent overloading.

    TEMPERATURE SETTING BUTTONS

    If you set the desired room temperature, then the unit w ill

    ma intain the room temperature a s set . In COOL mode, if theroom temperature is higher than the setting, the compressorwill automatically turn on to provide a cooling e ffect. On theother hand, if the room temperature is lower than the setting,the c ompressor will automatically turn off to stop coolingoperation. In HEATmod e, if the room temperature is lowerthan the setting, the compressor will automatica lly turn on toprovide a hea ting effec t. If the room temperature is higherthan the setting, the compressor will automatically turn off tostop hea ting operation. However,the indoor fan will continueto c irculate a ir even if the c ompressor is turned o ff.

    Press this button to set the SLEEP timer. (Refer to p.19)

    OPERATION MODE SELECTING BUTTON

    Press this button to selec t the desired mode.In AUTO mod e, the unit will run automa tica lly by selec tingCOOL or HEATmod e acco rding to the indoor room temp erature.

    In DRY mode, the microcomputer of the unit controls the indoorfan mo tor and makes the outdoor unit automatically turn onand off according to the room temp erature, which ca usesmoisture to be removed more effectively.In COOL mode, the unit will run at the norma l cooling mode.In FAN mode, only the indoor fan will operate at the selectedfan speed and c irculate room air. In HEATmod e, the unit willrun at the normal heating mode.

    FLAP CONTROL BUTTON

    Controls the d ischarge air flow d irec tion up and down.( Refer to p .20 ) On start up, the flaps open a utomaticallyac cording to the operating mod e.

    If you p ress this button, the flap will move stepwise a ndthe position will be d isplayed . If you press this buttonag ain, the unit operates at SWING mod e. At operatingmode SWING , the flap w ill swing up and d owncontinuously.

    ON/ OFF TIMER AND CURRENT TIME

    BUTTONS

    If you set the ON and OFF times, the unit will automa tica llyturn on and off at the set times.

    ( Refer to pp.15 -16 )If you p ress the CLOCK button during Timer operation,you w ill see the current time for 5 sec ond s.

    HOUR/ MINUTE SETTING BUTTONS

    Adjust the c urrent time (Refer Page 18) and the on/offtimes of timer operation with these b uttons.

    RESERVATION AND CANCEL BUTTONS

    Press the RESERV. button to reserve the ON/ OFF Timer andpress the CANCEL button to c ancel the reserved on/ offtime. ( Refer to pp.15 -18 )

    EVERYDAY TIMER BUTTON

    Press the EVERYDAY button and the on/off time you havereserved will be repeated until canc elled . ( Refer to pp .15 -18 )

    CURRENT TIME ADJUSTING BUTTON

    Press this button to adjust the current time. ( Refer to p .11 )

    RESET BUTTON

    Press this button when the remote c ontrol is not op erat ingproperly or after rep lac ing ba tteries.( Refer to p . 11 )

    ADDRESS SWITCH

    If you have two indoor units in the same room, you canlink one remote control with one indoor unit, and link theother remote control with the other indoor unit.( Refer to p .11 )

    BEFORE OPERATION

    Remove the c over of theba ttery compartment at theba ck of the remote control bysliding it out in the d irec tion ofthe arrow.

    REMOTE CONTROL PREPARATION

    Remove the used ba tteries andinsert new batteries. The remotecontrol uses two a lkaline b atteries.(1.5V, LR03x2)

    Press the RSTbutton w ith a sharpob jec t to reset the remote controlbefore closing the c over of theba ttery compartment.

    Do not fit use the used ba tteries or ba tteries of a different type. Such use may c ause the unit to ma lfunction. Changing batteries should be done a fter turning o ff the unit. The average battery life d uring norma l use is approxima tely one year. When the a ir cond itioner does not operate normally after rep lac ing the batteries, remove the batteries, refit

    them and repress the RSTbutton after 5 sec onds.

    When two units are used in the same room, you can match the address of the remote control to that of the unit.

    Remove the lid of the battery ca se. Assign the address switch of one remote control as B.Press the RSTbutton with a sharp object.

    Turn off the unit and pull out the power plug. Remove the front panel, Terminal bloc k cover, and Frame grille.Pull out the PCB. Assign the address switch of one indoor unit as B.

    Press the TA b utton with a sharpob jec t and the current timeindication symb ol flashes. In thebeginning, 6:00A.M. will flash.

    Set the c urrent time with the hourand the minute buttons while thecurrent time indication flashes.

    BEFORE OPERATION

    The remote c ontrol will only funct ion when operated within 5 meters of the unit.

    You c an hea r a b eeping sound from the unit in the following

    cases, which indicates that the signal is received.

    The a ir cond itioner will not op erate if curtains,doors or other ma terials block the signals from theremote c ontrol to the unit.

    Avoid spilling liquid onto the remote controlor dropping it. This can cause d eformation,discoloration and malfunction.

    If the infrared signa l rec eiver on the unit is exposedto d irec t sunlight, the air cond itioner may not workproperly.Draw the curtains to avoid d irec t sunlight.

    A mounting bracket for the remote control issupp lied with the unit.Install the mounting b racket on the wa ll 30cmbelow the rece iver of the unit.

    Press this button and the unit sta rts AUTO operation.

    MODE button

    If the unit is operating in another mode, press the MODEbutton to selec t AUTO.

    TEMP. ( ) buttons

    Set the desired temperature using the remote c ontrolbuttons.At the start of the AUTO operation, the temperatureis set a t 25c and it is functional within the to taltemperature range.

    FLAP button

    Press this button to control the desired air flow d irec tion.

    FAN SPEED button

    Set the desired fan speed at start up, on AUTO.

    ON/OFF button

    Press this button again to stop operation.

    Automatic operation means that the air conditioner operates automatically by selecting the COOL or HEATmode and

    automatically changes the fan speed ac cording to the indoor cond ition to keep the room temperaturecomfortable.

    NOTE

    When the room temp erature is between 21c ~ 29c.- If the room temperature is lower 1c or more than the set temperature : HEATmode will operate- If the room temperature is higher1c or more than the set temperature : COOL mode will operate

    When the room temperature is lower than 21c or higher than 29c, the operation mode is restric ted regardless ofthe set temperature.- If the room temperature is lower than 21c then only the heating mode is allowed.- If the room temperature is higher than 29c then only the cooling mode is allowed.

    The Auto operation is not suitable for the app lication to the c omputer room or some food/ wine stoc k storage.

    About ON Timer

    When the ON Timer is set, the unit monitors the roomtemperature for 1hour before the set time to make surethe room cond ition is reached by the reserve time.

    The actua l on time of the unit is ea rlier tha t the reservedtime by 0 to 40 minutes ac cording to the d ifferenc ebetween room temp. and set temp.

    Reserve the ON Timer at 5:30 P.M..

    Reserve the OFF Timer at 10:30 P.M..

    Set the operation mode as desired .

    Or when you want to stop the operation at 10:30 P.M. and startag ain at 7:30A.M. with the same cond ition.

    Reserve the OFF Timer at 10:30 P.M. during operation.

    Reserve the ON Timer at 7:30 A.M..

    When you wa nt to start operation at 5:30 P.M. and stop at 10:30 P.M. everyday with the same operating cond ition.

    Reserve the ON Timer at 5:30 P.M..

    Reserve the OFF Timer at 10:30 P.M..

    Press the EVERYDAY button and RESERV. button.

    NOTE

    Refer to pp.15 -16 for the setting method and refer to p .18 for the canceling method of the ON, OFF andEVERYDAY Timers.

    In the ON and OFF Timer operation, the ea rlier setting c ompared to the c urrent time will be app lied first. The EVERYDAY Timer can be selec ted in case of a combination of the ON and OFF Timer reservation or

    ON and SLEEP Timer reservation. You can change the ON/OFF reservation time where the EVERYDAY Timer reservation.

    Cancellation of ON, OFF and EVERYDAY Timer

    Press the ON TIMER button to cancel the ON Timeror press OFF TIMER button to cancel the OFF Timer.To canc el the EVERYDAY Timer reservation, p ress theEVERYDAY, ON TIMER or OFF TIMER button.

    Press the CANCEL button by po inting the remotecontrol towards the receiver of the indoor unit.

    A receiving beep is hea rd. TIMER lamp of the indoor unit lights off.

    If you c anc el the ON Timer or OFF Timer reservation while EVERYDAY Timer is reserved, EVERYDAY Timer will beautomatica lly canceled.

    When the electricity fails while EVERYDAY Timer is reserved, EVERYDAY Timer reservation will be canceled.Reserve the EVERYDAY Timer again after the electricity comes on.

    UNIT OPERATION

    Sleep Timer

    This func tion ena bles the user to automa tica lly switch off the unit.

    PROCEDURE

    If you want to stop the operat ion after 3 hours from now.

    Press the SLEEP button 3 times 3:hr will be displayed and the signa l will be

    flashing. After 5 second s, the stop ping time will be displayed. The unit operates in sleep mode for 3 hours and will

    switch off at the end of the 3 hours. To chang e the reserved time or to canc el,

    press the SLEEP Button a gain.1:hr 2:hr 3:hr 7:hr 9:hr Cancel

    When the SLEEP Timer is set, the unit will control theset temperature to avoid overcoo ling or overheatingin operation.Set temperature is chang ed as shown be low.

    UNIT OPERATION

    NOTE

    NOTE

    The a ir discharge d irec tion c an b e c ontrolled to swing up and down a nd ca n be fixed at a preferred position or atautomatic position by the remote control.

    If you select the Flap position using the FLAP button in the remote control, the flap in the unit will move to thatposition automa tically. Once you selec t the position, the unit remembers that position and whenever you turnon the unit, the flap will be p ositioned to that position.

    If you selec t SWING, the flap will swing up and down. In the COOL, DRY and FAN mod e, the flap will swing in thecool range. In the HEATmode, the flap will swing in the heat range.

    If you select AUTO, the flap will position itself to the preset p osition ac cording to the operat ion mode.

    Always use the remote control to adjust the flap position, otherwise it may cause abnorma l operation.Please turn off the unit and turn it on aga in when you ma nually ad just the flap out of rang e.

    Left and Right Control

    If you want to adjust the direc tion of the discharge air left or right, adjust the vertical louver with the hand le a fteropening the flap .

    Please d o not fix the flap at position for a long time, as this position minimizes air circulation resulting inuneven room temp erature.

    Avoid the d ischa rge air be ing d irec ted towa rds the occup ants for a long period of time. Do not adjust the flap by the hand during SWING operation because it may damage the a ir swing mechanism.

    EMERGENCY AND TEST OPERATION

    Test Operation

    This operation is used for chec king after unit insta llation.

    Press the TESTbutton. Press the TESTbutton onc e more afte r checking to activate remote control. If there is any input

    signa l ( remote control signa l or EMERGENCY button p ressed ) during test op eration, the TESTmod e willchange to the input signa l mod e.

    The sett ing conditions of the test operation are as follows:- Operation mode : COOL- Fan speed : HIGH- Timer mode : Disab le- Discharge air direc tion : SWING

    Emergency Operation

    When the remote control is lost, da maged or the b attery is discharged, the EMERGENCY button can be usedto run the unit.

    Press the EMERGENCY button a t the off mod e c ond ition.- The unit operates automatica lly ac cording to the room temp erature by selecting either the c ooling or

    the heating op eration. If you wa nt to stop the emergency operation, push the EMERGENCY button a ga in or operate the remote c ontrol. The setting cond itions of emergenc y op eration a re as follows:

    AIR CLEANING OPERATION

    Life time of filters

    The life of ab ove filters varies according to the amount of c iga rette smoke, room size and the operat ing t ime. Air filters can be c leaned with a va cuum c leaner or rinsed under running water after using a month.

    (Refer to CLEANING THE FILTERS AND FRONTPANEL,p.25.) The life t ime of opt iona l Active carbon filter is ab out 2 years and that of op tiona l Elec trostatic filter is ab out 3 months.

    These filters cannot be recycled. The life time of optiona l Photo-ca ta lyst filter is about 2 years. This filter can be washed under running water and

    can be refreshed by exposing under direc t sun light. Exposed time is 6 hours after using 3 months.(Refer to CLEANING THE FILTERS AND FRONTPANEL,p.25)

    POINTS TO NOTE

    Operating Condition

    Temperature ranges suitab le for unit op erat ion are as follows.

    When the unit operates above or below these cond itions for a long time, system diag nostics may detec t ama lfunction and the unit will not op erate p roperly.

    If the unit operates for a long time und er abnormal situation of extremely high humidity, condensed wa ter maydrip from the unit.

    Time Delay

    If the op erating mod e c hanges from COOL and DRY to HEAT,there will be 3 minutes time delay for G1/G2/G3 or 5 minutes time d elay for G4between compressor turning off and turning on including starting the heat operation.

    If the op erating mode changes from Hea t to Cool and Dry, there will be 3 minutes time delay. When heating operation starts, hot air de livery might be delayed due to a warm up period .

    Minimum Operation Time

    In norma l operat ion, there is a minimum operation time o f 3 minutes between compressor turning on a nd turningoff.

    Heating Features

    When the unit starts in the hea ting mode, there will be a p reheating period before the unit is ready to deliverwarm a ir.

    When the outd oor temp erature is low, the heating cap ac ity will be reduced. If the room air is not warm enoughduring severe winter conditions, use ad ditiona l heating devices.

    Defrost Operation

    In the heating mode, when the outd oor coil is frosted , the indoor fan and outd oor fan w ill turn off while thecompressor will turn on to remove the frost on the outdoor coil.

    The d efrost mode stops after 10 minutes or when the outdoor coil temperature is greater than 18c. When the power is off, the defrost operation is automatically conducted depend ing on frost

    ac cumulation on the outdoor coil.

    Auto Recovery

    When the electric ity fails while the unit is operating, the unit memorizes the operating c ond ition, and it w illstart operation automatically when the electric ity is restored.

    When you leave home during an electric ity failure, please unplug the power cord, or the unit will automaticallyrestart in your absence.

    Frost Prevention of Indoor Unit

    When the unit op erates (on cooling) a t a low ambient temp erature, frost ma y ap pear on the indoor coil. When theindoor coil temperature is be low 0c, the microcomputer makes the c ompressor stop to p rotect the unit from frost.

    Normal Operation

    Any of the following can occur during normal operation:

    A sound like a GURGLE can sometimes be hea rd d uring operat ion or when the unit stop s.- It is the sound of the refrigerant flowing through the unit.

    Bad smells can come from the unit.- Smells such as smoke or cosmetics can ac cumulate while room a ir c irculates through the unit.

    - Cleaning the filters will red uce this prob lem. The outdoo r fan does not rotate during heating operation.

    - The unit is in de frost mod e. UNITON lamp on the indoor unit display flashes and no air comes from the unit.

    - It indicates ma lfunction of the unit and the compressor will stop operating. A creaking noise c an sometimes be heard during operat ion or when the unit turns on.

    - This is the sound of p lastic expanding d ue to a n ab rupt temperature change.
