Kind regards Tracy Pickering Principal [email protected] Newsletter, 29 July 2020 Hello Parents and Carers Welcome to Term 3. Half way through the year and what a year it has been. If all goes well, we will have an exciting semester ahead with a number of events that both students and parents can engage in. Zones of Regulation: Over the course of this semester students from K-10 will be learning about recognition and self-regulation of emotions through the Zones of Regulation program. Students may refer to themselves as being in the Red, Yellow, Green or Blue zone. The optimal zone for learning is the Green zone. An important part of the program is that students are able to identify the strategies to assist them to move from one zone to another. Phase 4 and 5 Term 3 Changes: Phase 4 will continue until 15 August when a review of Phase 5 restrictions will then be considered. The following restrictions are therefore still in place: Parents/Carers on site: whilst we are excited that our parents can now join us on site, it is in a somewhat restricted capacity. There are some guidelines to ensure health and hygiene is observed during the winter months. Kiss & drop is still encouraged to foster independence. Parent/Teacher meetings are welcomed. Please arrange a meeting with the classroom teacher via email or phoning the front office. This allows uninterrupted time to discuss individual child needs. Parent rosters will be set up in those classes that require the extra individualised guidance. Parents on roster will be asked to sign in at the front office as a visitor. Assemblies will recommence. Adult social distancing of 2 square metres should be applied where possible. Class Entry. At this stage we will be asking parents not to enter classes in the morning unless you are on roster or specifically requested by the teacher. Teaching & Learning opportunities often starts before 8.50am. Cleaning regime will continue in Term 3. Benches, chairs, doorhandles and playground equipment will be cleaned multiple times a day. Incursions and excursions can occur. Interschool sports can occur. Parents should maintain physical distancing of 2 square metres. Parent Opinion Survey: Thank you to those parents who returned the hardcopy of the Parent Opinion Survey which was distributed at the end of last term. Please note a link to the electronic copy will be sent out today. If you have not yet returned the hardcopy, can you either return that or, alternately, complete the electronic copy by this Friday, 31 July. 2 x $50 Canteen voucher prizes: A raffle ticket will be provided to every respondent. There are two $50 Canteen vouchers on offer, one for Primary and one for Secondary. If you submit yours electronically, please email [email protected] with your child’s name so we may allocate them a raffle ticket. The raffle will be drawn at the assembly next week and parents will be notified that a $50 credit is available at the canteen. Results of the survey will be presented to staff and the School Council, and will inform our future planning. We encourage all families to complete the survey so that we may have a true indication of parent satisfaction across K-10. Have a great fortnight. Parents on School Grounds Please remember that while you are able to drop off & pick up your children at the classroom door for the start and end of the school day, we would ask that parents use the office for any messages or deliveries during the school day to minimise class disruption.
