The PreK Parparim have had a very busy week! Ouryoung scientists investigated pumpkins using their fivesenses. We built structures out of cranberries andtoothpicks. Stop by our classroom and see our amazing
creations, which include the setting sun and the rising moon, as well as tunnels andgrabbers. As part of our study of this week's parsha, Vayera, we set up a tent withthree doors, just like Avraham Avinu. Shabbat Shalom from the Parparim!

Wow! It's hard to believe that two months have already passed. The days havereally flown by! Our fifth grade writers have worked diligently on their personalnarratives, with a special focus on the process of craft and the traits of strongwriting. During this first marking period, they have learned about writing with clarityand detail, written and reviewed examples of narrative writing and learned how touse imagery and leads. They have enjoyed writing their own narrative essays andhave had the opportunity to share their ideas as part of the process. Throughvarious minilessons, they have learned how to raise the level of their writing byexperiencing the moment and “telling the story from inside it.” Tools like thenarrative checklist have helped these budding writers to know if their writingmeasured up and how they could revise and improve their writing. Soon, our fifthgraders will explore how to write researchbased argument/opinion essays. Theywill read critically and analyze evidence, while suspending judgment, in order tosupport their claim, either for or against a particular issue.
