Hello Parents, The Leadership Team at Trebein is doing a book study on the book, School Culture Rewired: How to Define, Assess, and Transform It by Steve Gruenert & Todd Whitaker. As a new school, we are committed to creating and maintaining a school culture that is suc-cessful for both staff and students. As a Trebein staff, we are looking at the following 12 aspects of school culture and reflecting on where we are currently and where we hope to be: Student Achievement

Collegial Awareness

Shared Values

Decision Making

Risk Taking

Trust

Openness

Parent Relations

Leadership

Communication

Socialization

Organizational History

It is important to us that you realize how much we care about the total school experience. We know that testing and student achieve-ment tend to be the topics most discussed, so we feel it is vital for you to know we are committed to establishing and maintaining a posi-tive school environment. While we feel our school culture is actually quite good, it is important to be purposeful in our decision making. As always, any input you have or ideas for improvement are always welcome.

We are continuing our Character Education initiative which focuses on Food, Water, and Shelter next month by

supporting a great organization, Snuggled Up Inc. Snuggled Up provides beds and bedding to children who are in

need. We are going to be collecting items to donate to Snuggled Up’s cause. From March 16th to March 27th we

are asking students to bring in new twin sheet sets and warm blankets so that we can replenish Snuggled Up’s

resources and allow them to continue to help students in need. We have also scheduled fun spirit days on the

three days leading up to Spring Break where students can bring in or wear fun items for a .50 donation. We will

provide more information once we get closer to those days. The money collected will help Snuggled Up purchase

additional items such as the cots that they need to complete the bedding bundles. Thank you so much for your

continued support for our character education initiative!

Trebein Elementary is proud to announce that fifth grader, Ava Kahlig’s artwork was accepted into the 2015 Ohio Art Education Association’s Youth Art Month Exhibition. We are also excited to announce that 4th grade student, Sierra Bain’s artwork was chosen as an exhibitor for the 35th Annual Young People’s Art Exhibition sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association.

Both art exhibits by Ohio students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be on display at the State Teacher’s Retirement Systems building in Co-lumbus, Ohio from February 28 to March 21, 2015.

One hundred and twenty pieces of artwork were selected for these exhibitions from the nine OAEA regions in the State of Ohio. Ava’s artwork, Water-color Leaves, and Sierra’s artwork, Dynamic Dragon, were submitted to the shows by Carla Lee, visual arts educator at Trebein Elementary. The two shows are sponsored by the Ohio Art Education Association, which is the professional organization for art teachers in Ohio. A reception and awards ceremony will be held at the STRS building on Saturday, March 14, 2015, for the young artists, their parents, teachers, and guests. Congratulations Ava and Sierra!

Letter from our PTO President Dear PTO Members,

During our February PTO meeting, our vice-president (Holly Truckermiller), secretary (Jaime Jones), and treasurer (Christina Pyles) spoke about what their positions entail. During our March PTO meeting, our historian (Jessica Dailey), fundraising coordinator (Michelle Seymour), and volunteer coordinator (Jodie Gervais) will be speaking about their posi-tions as well. We will be accepting nominations for these positions during our April PTO meeting and elections will oc-cur during our May PTO meeting.

The position of president is also being elected and must be filled by a present member of the executive board (one of the afore mentioned officers). This will help maintain continuity for our PTO and hopefully avoid “reinventing the wheel” scenarios.

Please consider running for ne of these positions and feel free to discuss what is required with current officers holding the positions.

At our March PTO meeting, we will have a guest speaker from Greene County Family and Children First. Please join us on Tuesday, March 17

th in the Trebein Elementary library at 7:00pm.

Sincerely,

Chrisonna Anderson-Lutz

Trebein PTO President
