    Introduction

    PSOs are offerings of commercial, tailorable user profiles for standardizing and automatingCAE process work flows. These specialist packages of services and software support theimplementation and utilization of Altair solutions & technology, and are customized to meet ourclient’s specific requirements. Altair's Enterprise Solutions division helps companies to solvebusiness and engineering problems at the desktop, team and enterprise levels. We work withour clients to increase organizational efficiency by combining industry leading software solutionswith tailored services to provide system integration, process automation, specialized analyticsapplications and data management solutions.

    Our diverse solution offerings include: Automated Reporting Director, Geomechanics Director,Impact Simulation Director, Model Mesher Director, Squeak & Rattle Director, Virtual GaugeDirector, Weld Certification Director and more.

    The PSO licenses are now included in the default HyperWorks license.

    Release SummaryNew versions of the following Packaged Solutions are included in the common installer. All thePSO are supported on HyperWorks 2017.2 except for Automated Reporting Director and Squeakand Rattle Director. HyperWorks 2017.2.1 patch is needed for these two PSOs to successfullyaccess all the functionalities. See the details in the individual release notes sections.

    Automated Reporting Director

    • A new GUI with modular architecture is introduced to improve the user experience whilecreating the reports:

    • Report authoring functionalities such as adding a chapter, image, table, or text areavailable to create a report structure.

    • External objects such as Excel tables, Text files, Word documents, can be embedded intothe report, similar to the Insert Object functionality in Office.

    • Advanced HyperWorks based modules such as Matrix Browser script provide the capabilityto manipulate the model and result data.

    • Capability to add additional customer specific modules to generate the reports, such asModel Description Report, Model Validation Report, Stress Certification Report has beenintroduced.

    • The report structure can be applied to an already loaded model (existing session).

    Geomechanics Director

    • In the Create Hex layer (Auto) step, integrity check is added to check the inputs beforecreating hexas.

    Impact Simulation Director/ Model Mesher Director

    • Functionalities in Model Mesher panel are moved to the Model Mesher browser.

    Squeak and Rattle Director

    • The user interface is moved from the panel area to the tab area to improve the visibility andaccess to the HyperWorks core functionalities.

    • The E-Line creation is made flexible and efficient by splitting it in to two steps. Instead ofcreating and realizing the connectors one-by-one, connectors are created first and realizationis done in the second step. This reduces user interaction in the process saving overall timeneeded for the E-line creation.

    • Excitation loads can be plotted in pre-processing module to visualize the load profile enablingvisual and mathematical checks.

    • A capability to prepare and export the input file for systematic or non-systematic optimizationis added in the post module.

    • The PRE_Output_CSV saving and retrieving can be done with no limitation of number of E-Lines. The E-Line creation is done in two steps.

    Weld Certification Director

    • Eurocode 3

    • The text result file includes details of accumulated damage results and allowed number ofcycles.

    • FKM

    • Meaningful default weld line properties are defined.

    • The evaluation distance is automatically calculated during weld line detection (previouslystatic default values).

    Automated Reporting Director

    HyperWorks Compatibility

    • Fully supported in HyperWorks 2017.2.1. This patch is needed on top of HyperWorks 2017.2to be able to successfully retrieve the results of the Matrix Browser script module in the reportstructure.

    Microsoft Office Compatibility

    • Fully supported from Microsoft Office 2010 onwards.

    New Features

    Known Limitations

    • Word Export on Linux is not supported for this release.

    • Supported file formats are .doc, .docx, .docm, .ppt and .pptx.

    Note: The XML based word documents are not supported.

    • Best view is added based on only element normal and not the view list.

    • Option to explicitly export critical, above or below threshold values of selected result is notavailable. Threshold based value can be seen in the results table though. This table can beexported if needed.

    • Following options are not available in the current version:

    • Set comps to transparent mode.

    • Add complete overview.

    • Add Measures (only Notes are added).

    • Component selection with CSV file.

    • Model options: Define legend by file, Scale results, Exploded view, Add model contourbased on material and properties and Add model table.

    Enhancements

    • In the Create Hex layer (Auto) step, integrity check is added to check the inputs beforecreating hexas.

    Bug Fixes

    • The height of the menu panel is adjusted to fix the issue of the scroll bar not being displayedto select the menu options.

    Known Limitations

    GeoD pre

    • The Contact Definition functionality is not available for Stress Analysis Work flow- Hexahedronmeshing.

    • User intervention with ESC key at Entity Sets panel results in tcl error.

    GeoD post

    • Only single result can be removed from scalar table in Elfen Result Converter.

    Squeak and Rattle Director

    • Fully supported in HyperWorks 2017.2.1. This patch is needed on top of HyperWorks 2017.2 tosuccessfully move between various SnRD steps.

    New Features

    SnRD Pre

    • The user interface is moved from the panel area to the tab area to improve the visibility andaccess to the HyperWorks core functionalities.

    • Color coding is added for incomplete/WIP/complete process steps.

    • The E-Line creation is made flexible and efficient by splitting it in to two steps. Instead ofcreating and realizing the connectors one-by-one, connectors are automatically created firstand realization is done in the second step. This reduces user interaction in the process savingoverall time needed for the E-line creation.

    1. The connectors are created for a quick and easy review of locations where E-Lines shall becreated.

    A capability to prepare and export the input file for systematic or non-systematic optimization isadded in the post module.

    There are two type of Optimization:

    1. Systematic

    a. 1D Topology optimization enabled for targeting a specific frequency or range of frequency.

    b. Automatic conversion of loads and load collector to run a MFREQ load case.

    c. Export of a runnable OptiStruct optimization input deck

    d. Optimization restricted to 1 E-Line at the time.

    a. Free Size optimization enabled for 2D Shell parts upon automatic or manual selection.

    Bug Fixes

    • The PRE_Output_CSV saving and retrieving can be done with no limitation on the number of E -Lines.

    • Correct gap and tolerances values are saved in pre_output_csv file.

    Known Issues

    • MTRANload step is expected to have properly defined SPC card(s). When the user definesLoad type as Force, in task Define Load Points, the appropriate SPC card needs to be manuallycreated.

    • MTRAN load steps previously created using SnRD are not recognized when re-importing amodel. This is due to the merging of the include file that contains the load step, upon export.
