Dear Kristi Veitch,

I am writing as a student at the Kansas City Art Institute to express my interest in the Kansas City based VML graphic design internship. As a Graphic Design and Creative Writing major, I am a well-rounded interdisciplinary designer and artist that would be an outstanding candidate for the job. I am an artist, thinker, writer, photographer, designer, and letterer. A combination of these aspects and my desire to create market-able humanistic designs lead me to believe I am an excellent candidate for the VML graphic design internship. VML holds a standard of impeccable design in terms of the advertisement and marketing industries. The high creative and product standards VML holds for their brand are also the standards I hold for myself as a designer.

In addition to being a designer I am a writer with a deep love of the English language. To accurately depict my disposition, I will continue with a self-portrait of myself. I have short dark hair that makes static electricity in winter time. I am going through a phase of reading strictly by candlelight. I enjoy holding my breath underwater until I feel the pressure rise in my head. I am continuously adding to my most prized book collection. I enjoy hearing folk stories about my father, Puerto Rico, and a blind chicken. A collection of my life experiences reflect my disposition and desire to make my creative outlet a marketable and relateable advertisement for a mass audience.

What makes design my passion is the chance to impact an individual’s daily life through meaningful forms of artistic expression. Within my design practice, I have a love for the tactile. I am a strong believer in creative freedom and experimental process, however I also believe in a meticulous attention to detail and the importance of itera-tions. This form of conceptual and material experimentation, in my opinion, make design a humanistic and relatable form of communication. Which leads me to believe that VML studios is the perfect fit for my design style and inate desire to create through whichever medium is at my disposal. My creative drive, leadership skills, diverse back-ground, and hard work ethic make me an excellent candidate for the VML graphic design internship. Thank you for your time.
