Post Graduate Programme in Human Resource Management 2007-2009 Batch

Evolving from M.A. Social Work with specialization in IRPM i.e. Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, M.A. Human Resource Management was introduced in 1993 in the wake of Liberalization, Privatization and Globalization to respond to the demand of the newly emerging dynamic industrial environment.

The Programme provides students with the necessary foundation and the advanced skills of a career in this growing field. Career opportunities for human resources and labor relations professionals are expected to grow in the coming decade, due to the continuing need to recruit highly skilled employees and to provide them with increased benefits. Keeping this need in mind, our programme prepares the students to work as Human Resource executives, administrators or labor relations specialists in business and other complex organizations in both government and non-government sectors.

Through a curriculum grounded in theory and research, students are exposed to the principles and practices of human resource management and acquire valuable skills to apply these advanced techniques. Students actively participate in a learning experience that includes traditional and contemporary areas of Human Resource Management.

The students also acquire knowledge and practice skills in strategic planning, change management and organizational effectiveness. In addition, they have the opportunity to apply their knowledge in field placement under the guidance of a faculty supervisor and this intensive six-month industrial training substantiates the theoretical base imparted in the classroom. Finally, the flexibility of the programme offers them the opportunity to map out a career that will allow them to make significant contributions to the field.

ALUMNI SPEAKS

"The best feature of the two years Masters' Programme has been an amalgamation of various aspects such as the small size of the class, an excellent and committed faculty, a very good course curriculum & exposure through extra-curricular interventions. I think I owe a big thanks & gratitude to the Department and wish that it grows in stature in the years ahead."Mr. S. Y. Siddiqui, Managing Executive Officer - Finance, Admin. & IT, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, Gurgaon. Batch - 1979

"I find that my first step to success in my professional career was in 1986, when I secured admission in MSW (IRPM Stream) at JMI. The concept of block field work training with strict monitoring by the field work supervisor and the academic curriculum were crucial in getting trained as per industry requirements. My field work supervisors were a great source of inspiration in my journey into the professional world. I am still in touch with the faculty and students at JMI and make an effort to learn and provide learning opportunities to the new generation students. I am impressed with the level of enthusiasm zeal, energy and passion in them. Keep up the good work!"Mr. Rakesh Arora, Global Business Head - HR, AgreeYa Solutions, Noida. Batch - 1988

“Spending two years in the department has been one of my wonderful and greatest learning experiences. The Masters programme has been a mix of very exhaustive and excellent course curriculum which is coupled with field work training .This learning has lead to professional upbringing of the students in the field of Human Resources. The excellent and dedicated faculty imbibes great values to the students which are so important in today's world.
