Presidents Message Dear Fellow Lions:
Fall is upon us with all its glory. I love seeing all the colors and
even the crisp air in the morning. Winter will soon be here but
enjoy this weather as much you can.
November is diabetes awareness month a meal and speaker is
planned for our membership meeting November 5.
Ocktoberfest was well attended with many lions working and
participating in the silent auction. The food was good and
social was even better. I want to thank everyone involved for
all their hard work and dedication to make this event a
success. As a Lions Club we have many talents to share with
the Cross Plains community “We Serve”.
The opening of Main Street Party was quite a hit. I heard some
numbers and was amazed. The Lion Train was is in operation.
Lion Doc pulled the caboose and Lion Jim with his garden
tractor pulled seven barrel riders. We were busy from 3 to 6. I
told Doc never expected this many riders, but again “We
Serve”
Worlds Fair discussion was a topic last meeting. As President
going back to the committee suggesting One Day Event with
Fireworks as your headliner event. The club does not want the
Worlds Fair to go away by show of hands. But we need to do
something to revamp and bring new ideas to the table. Please
think about again “We Serve”
In closing I want to thank everyone in this Lions Club. Every
member participates and extends expertise and advice. My
job as President has been made much easier because of all
your help.
Again “We Serve”
President Jim Albertson

Important News (Please read)
We would like more Lions to use Email Lions, remember every little bit saved, helps our club out a lot. I send out around 12 to 14 Newsletters and Special Notices a year. Each of these mailings cost our club 45 cents each. Times that by 14 and that equals $6.30 a year per Lion. This can add up to be a huge saving at the end of the year. Please, Cross Plains Lions, if you have an email address, let me know as soon as possible. Thank you, Lion PP Phone: 608-445-6348 Email: [email protected]
Special Notice New Calendar of Events I have updated the calendar. If you have any additions or correction please call me at: Phone:445-6348 Email: [email protected]

Sidewalk at railroad crossing
Everyone must realize that this is not set in stone as of yet. This is only an idea. They may go with something
entirely different. They are hoping for some kind of a crossing to be in place with the trail which crosses the
Rail Road tracks. The concrete sidewalk will only be at the Rail Road Crossing, it will not cover the whole trail.

Update of OcktoberFest Page 7
Cross Plains Lions
Oktoberfest 2015 Update This year’s Oktoberfest had very good support from the Cross Plains Lions, their families, and other Lions from around district 27-
D1. The weather was very warm and the Badgers game may have put a damper on attendance from our Cross Plains Community.
Even with the smaller crowd the silent auction receipts were approximately $1,463.00 and the advance ticket sales were $1,760.00
for a total excluding ticket sales at the door of $3,223.00. Our Treasurer Lion John Griffin will have the total receipts including the
ticket sales at the door, and a complete report including expenses will be available at the November Cross Plains Lions Meeting.
Special Thanks To
All of the Lions and their families who helped make this year’s Oktoberfest a success.
Lion Pete Cerniglia for his spirited performance as our DJ this year.
The Hill Top for donating the cooking of the pork.
Lions President Jim Albertson for donating the potatoes
Lion Lisa Laschinger for donating the materials and decorating the Legion hall for Oktoberfest.
J Graphics LLC. For donating the meal tickets and posters.
All of those who donated items to the silent auction.
A final report for this year’s Oktoberfest will be presented at the November Cross Plains Lions meeting. The Oktoberfest
committee is working on some ideas that will make it easier to sell advance tickets and increase community participation at next
year’s Oktoberfest. Please attend the November Cross Plains Lions meeting for further information and read future editions of the
Cross Plains Lions Newsletter.
Thank You For All You Do
