An ADVENT DAY OF RECOLLECTION with Fr. Chris will be presented on December 9th from 8:30 am to 12:00 pm in the auditorium. The Sacrament of Reconciliation and Penance will be the theme. All ministers are highly encouraged to come and spend time with the Lord and each other. Refreshments and snacks will be provided. However, please feel free to bring something to share.

The following is from “Nuestra Parroquia” The Readings and their Message Ezekiel 34:11-12, 15-17 The metaphor of the shepherd is used in cultures with pastoral scenes. The shepherd knew his herd, he guides it and has great affection for it. In Biblical times, lambs and sheep were used for food, clothing, and sacrifices. The sheep were weaker than the rams. The shepherd was needed to protect the herd against predators and other elements. 1 Corinthians 15:20-26, 28 For Paul, the Adam-Christ contraposition has a historical, as well as a salvation value. Humanity under sin and death goes on to become humanity under the grace and life of Christ. Disobedience becomes counter to obedience. According to Paul, in this movement toward a whole life there are several stages: the resurrection of Christ, which is already a reality; the universal resurrection in the second coming of Christ; and the defeat of all hostile powers. Matthew 25:31-46 The intention of this passage is not so much to describe the final events but to invite toward preparation. It is also a discourse centered on Jesus, the Son of Man. The ways of manifesting love toward our neighbor are found in the Old Testament, but here they are an expression of the precept of love. The definitive sentence from God rests on the motives of charitable service toward the neighbor in need.

Help us keep the poor in our community fed for Christmas. Each day people from our parish community come to St. Anthony’s for food and many other services to survive the difficult times they are having. Your help would be very greatly appreciated. Donations may be dropped off in the parish office. The following is a list of items that are needed for the Christmas Baskets that will be given out: Turkey, chicken, canned corn, canned vegetables, beans, rice, boxed mashed potatoes, canned gravy, cooking oil, sugar, eggs, butter, stove top stuffing, canned fruit cocktail, canned yams and canned cranberries.

Tomorrow Monday, November 27, at 7pm a bilingual Mass for families and friends of the incarcerated will be celebrated here at St. Anthony. It will be followed by a small gathering in the St. Anthony Café.

Through prayer and sharing, we open ourselves to God’s healing for ourselves and our loved ones in prison. All are welcome to join us for this special time.

NEXT WEEKEND at all liturgies we will take up a second collection to help St. Anthony Catholic School continue its ministry of education.

Your generous contribution will allow more children of our parish to attend our parish school.

You are invited to participate each first Friday of the month, from, 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. Saturday morning for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Neglect is the most common form of child abuse. It is the failure to meet a child’s basic needs, including housing, food, clothing, education, safety and access to health care. Neglect is most often characterized by acts of omission that aren’t easy to see. The signs of neglect are wide and varied, and may include: failure to develop and grow appropriately, or malnourishment, among infants; wearing inadequate clothing for the weather; and children who seem to be wholly responsible for the welfare of their siblings. Mañana Lunes 27 de Noviembre, a las 7pm se celebrará una misa bilingüe para las familias y amigos de los encarcelados aquí en San Antonio. A través de la oración y compartimiento, nos abrimos a la sanación de Dios para nosotros y para nuestros seres queridos en prisión. Habrá una convivencia después en el St. Anthony Café.
