Barton RSVP turned in morethan 27,000 volunteer hourson the Corporation forNational and CommunityService grant report for thefirst six months of 2009. Thesehours were completed by 284volunteers as they servedslightly less than 10,000 peo-ple through services they pro-vided, demonstrating the sig-nificance of the Barton CountyRetired and Senior VolunteerProgram. Thank you forreducing community needsthrough volunteering.

Everyone Able to Read bySharing will be starting upagain in September. Volunteersgo into the elementary schoolsand listen to school-age chil-dren read. Make a difference inthe lives of many students bydonating less than an hour aweek. An informational meet-ing will be held Aug. 20 from10-11a.m. at 1025 Main toanswer questions about thisvaluable program.

Aug. 26 will be the next RedCross blood drive at the St.Rose auditorium from 11:30a.m. to 6:30 p.m.. If you areable to help, please phone in

and let us know your normalshift and position. You maydonate blood every 56 days.
