Calligraphers in

East Asia usually

used ink brushes

for calligraphy.

In the religion of Islam, calligraphy is amongthe noblest forms of art.

What do you get when you cross a calligraphy

brush with a four-leaf clover?A stroke of luck.

Why did the

calligraphy break up with her boyfriend? He wasn’t her

type.

How do you know when calligraphy is angry?

It’s cursive.

What do calligraphy letters have in common

with a roller coaster? Both can be a little

loopy.

The end of a calligraphy pen is capped with a metal tip called a “nib.” The nib is usually flat, round or pointed, depending on the

style of calligraphy to be created.

In 1899, Edward Johnston

when he began teaching calligraphy at the

Central School of Arts and Crafts in

calligraphy styles and letterforms varied

greatly from one area to another. This made it very difficult for scribes from

one area to read the calligraphy used

in another area.

The word “calligraphy” is Greek for “beautiful writing.” It was introduced to the English language in

the early 1600s.

Hundreds of years ago, one

style of calligraphy was used for personal writings

while another style was used for legal

documents.

I’ve penned some

fairly good pop music.
