Crash near county linesends biker to hospital A motorcycle accident May 23 in far western Jefferson County resulted in a trip to a Topeka hospital for a 29-year-old Valley Falls man. The Kansas Highway Patrol, which investigated the crash, identified the man as Jordan M. Carter, the operator of a 2008 Harley-Davidson. According to the agency’s report, he suffered suspected serious injuries and was transported to Stormont-Vail HealthCare in Topeka for treatment. The report said Carter was heading west on US-24 “at a high rate of speed” when the bike veered to the left and went off the on ramp to K-4 and over-turned. The location is just east of the Jefferson County-Shawnee County line. Carter was not wearing a helmet or a seat belt, according to the report. The KHP had the bike re-moved from the scene. The crash happened at 6 p.m.
