Jin Sil Yun has earned a 4.00 cumu- lative GPA and is one of our Valedic- torians this year. She is the daughter of Byong Sun and Hae Kyong Yun. Jin will be attending the University of Portland where she will major in Bi- ology and ultimately apply to medical school to become a pediatrician. During her four years at Hoquiam High School she participated in Golf for three years, Band for two, and Na- tional Honor Society. She also belonged to the Spanish Club, Band Council, Forensics Science Club, Math Club, Foodball, 32 Minute Program, and was a Visions Ambassador in Nicaragua. He will be attending Grays Harbor College in the fall to receive his A.S. degree, then will go on to the University of Wash-ington to get degree in Chemical En-gineering. Frank plans to work in the chemical field but he isn’t real sure the direction he will eventually take.

Samara Sarai Estrada is the daughter of Julia and Jesus Estrada and has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.910. Samara will be attending West-ern Washington University in the fall. Her plan is to major in pre-medicine and receive her bachelor’s degree in Science in no more than five years.

Samara has been very active in her four years at HHS. Her activities include; fours years of Soccer, three years of

Tennis, one year Track and Field, four years in Marching Band, ASB, Junior Class Secretary, Senior Class Secretary, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, and FBLA. She placed first at the Grays Harbor County Science Fair and was the Lions Club Stu-dent of the month for September. Samara was also on the May Court for the Mother’s Day Tea.

Aaron Wilson Gwin is the son of Jerry Gwin and Tammy Gwin-Cork and has earned a 3.807 cumulative GPA. He will be attending Grays Har-bor College in the fall, then transfer to Central Washington University to obtain a degree in Paramedicine. His plan is to become a Fireman/ Para-medic.

Aaron has been a member of the Marching Band for four years, Vice

President of the Executive Board, Sophomore Vice President and two years in Leadership. He was also a cast member in the school drama production of “The Wedding Singer” and played football for four years.Aaron was selected as the Lions Club Student of the Month for March and earned the title of Mr. Fantastic for the Mr. Fan-tastic Pageant.

Tori Amanda Bowen is the daugh-ter of Debbie Ricker and Jim Bowen and has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.784. Her plan is to attend Grays Harbor College to take her prereq-uisites before going on to Bellevue Community College. At Bellevue CC, Tori will study to become an Ultra Sound Technician/X-ray Technician.

During her high school career, Tori has participated in Cross Country and

Ashlee Faye Inmon will graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.844 and her AA from Grays Harbor College. She has been involved in the Running Start program for the past two years. Ashlee is the daughter of Sandra In-mon and Mike Moore. Ashlee has enlisted in the Air Force to obtain her Bachelors Degree in the medical field.

Ashlee has been involved in HHS Vol-leyball for two years, HHS golf team

for two years and the National Honor Society.

Track for four years, Marching Band for two and Basketball. She has been very active in raising money for the Relay for Life and donations for Foodball.

She has earned four-year varsity letters in Track and Cross Coun-try and a two-year varsity letter in Band. Tori was selected, by her peers, as a team captain for two years in Cross Country and one year in Track.

Rebecca Marie Meacham is the daughter of Janette and John Bowen and will graduate with a cumulative GPA of 3.752. Rebecca plans to attend Grays Harbor College for two years and then transfer to Central Washing-ton University, Her plan is to major in music education and eventually be a high school choir teacher.

Rebecca received two varsity letters in Soccer, where she was honored with

the Coaches Award and Most Improved Player. She earned three varsity letters in Band and has participated in Tennis and Track. Rebecca has also been active in the National Honor Society, Re-lay for Live, Foodball and Running Start. She has been in all four of the Drama Departments musicals and was President of the Choir Club for the last two years.

Rebecca was the Lions Club Student of the Month for February this year, was awarded the National Choral Award and partici-pated in the All-State Symphonic Choir. Rebecca was also on the Homecoming Court.

Sarah Elizabeth Protheroe is the daughter of Jeff and Liz Prothe-roe and has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.774. Her plan is to attend Grays Harbor College for two years to obtain her AA. After GHC, she will transfer to a four-year university to obtain her degree in Early Childhood Education.

Sarah has been very active during her high school years. Activities include; World Class Scholars, National Hon-

or Society, Drama Club, three school musicals, Leadership, Yearbook, two years as the editor, Volleyball, Tennis, Foodball, Marching Band and the Grays Harbor Bearcat pep band.

Sarah has also been a Rotary Club volunteer, vacation Bible School volunteer, and raised over $7,000 to purchase a brand new cargo trailer for the HHS Marching Band for her senior project. She was selected as the Lions Club Student of the Month for January, and has been a four-year Outstanding Letter Award in Band.

Taylor Dawn Fogo is the daughter of Kim and Steve Fogo and has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.725. Taylor will be attend-ing Washington State University in the fall. Her plan is to be a dentist or dental hygienist.

Tania Yanet Mendez is the daugh-ter of Maricela Estrada and has earned a 3.686 cumulative GPA. She will be attending Washington State University in September where she will major in Spanish and minor in Psychology. Her future goal is to become a translator/interpreter.

Tania has participated in Volleyball for four years, Tennis for three years, National Honor Society for four years,

Spanish Club and has been a volunteer at Timberland Regional Library. She was selected for the Coaches Award in Volleyball in 2011, attended districts for Tennis her junior year, and Dis-tricts for Volleyball her senior year. She served as the Spanish Club Treasurer in both her junior and senior year.

Edward Allen Erhart has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.649. He is the son of Carrie and Dave Westby and Roy Erhart. Eddy will be attending Washington State University in the fall where he will be earning a degree in Education with a major in English.

Eddy has participated in Cross Country and earned two varsity letters in Bas-ketball. Other activities he was active in includes Leadership Class, National

Honor Society, A.S.B., Relay for Life, Foodball, Kamp Kiwanis Counselor, the Red Cross Blood Drive, and was a coach for the Grays Harbor Youth Basketball program.

Eddy was chosen as the Lions Club Student of the Month for October, Co-Chairman for Foodball, Relay for Life Team Cap-tain, and Basketball Team Captain. Eddy also participated in the Mr. Fantastic Pageant.

Haeley Renae Adams is the daughter of Kevin Williams and Jade Adams and had earned a cu-mulative GPA of 3.630. Haeley will be attending Grays Harbor College in the fall where she will earn her Associates of Applied Science for Business Manage-

ment and Administration. Her plan is to pursue a job placement in the State of Washington.

Haeley has been involved in the Choir Program for six years and lettered her junior year. She has won several award while in

Michael Aaron Selin has earned a 3.590 cumulative GPA and is the son of Cindy Selin and Lester Selin. Mi-chael will be attending Grays Harbor College for two years to earn his As-sociate of Science degree in Pre-Chi-ropractic studies. He will then go on to the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon Chiropractic School for four years. After graduation he plans to open his own practice in Grays Harbor.

Michael has been involved in Football and Track for four years where he was awarded the Most Inspirational JV Football player for two years, and the Coaches award for Track. He has partici-pated in Foodball, National Honor Society, World Class Scholars, assisted with the Hoquiam youth Football Camp, volunteered at the Hoquiam Fire Department, and assisted with the movie night “To Save A Life” about suicide. Michael was selected the Lions Club Student of the Month for January, was chosen by his peers as “Most Likely to Brighten Your Day” for the Hesperian and was King of the May Court for the Mother’s Day Tea.

Larissa Kathleen Steen has earned a 3.607 cumulative GPA and is the daughter of James and Chrissy Steen. Larissa will be attending Grays Harbor College for three years to ac-quire her Associate in Science degree in Pre-Veterinary studies. Her plan is to transfer to Washington State Uni-versity to complete her degree and be-come a Veterinarian and one day open her own practice.

Larissa has been active in Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pit Or-chestra for HHS Musicals, Volleyball, Tennis, and National Honor Society. She has also served on the Band Council, partici-pated in the Grays Harbor Relay for Life and was the Volleyball Manager. She received the Coaches Award for Volleyball.

Shannon Nicole Murphy has earned a 3.585 cumulative GPA and is the daughter of Lori and Terry Murphy. Shannon will be attending Wenatchee Valley College in the fall and will be playing Soccer for them for the next two years. Her plan is to finish her de-gree in Pharmacy at Washington State University.

Shannon is a four-year letter winner in Soccer, has been 1st Team All-

League for Soccer, Soccer team Most Valuable Player, and has received All Academics Awards for Soccer. She was also the Boys Soccer Manager. She was involved in the Grays Harbor Relay for Life and Math Club.

Shannon was selected Lions Club Student of the Month for March and was a Princess on the Homecoming Court.

Timothy Mark Pelan Jr. is the son of Tim and Pam Pelan and has earned a 3.583 cumulative GPA. Tim will be earning his two-year degree at Grays Harbor College, then he will transfer to the University of Oregon to pursue a career in Communications and some-day become a Sports Broadcaster.

Tim has been very active during his four years at HHS. He has been in-volved in Football and Track and Field

four years, Basketball for 2 years, and has numerous awards for his participation. He has been on All-Academic Teams for the Evergreen League four-times for Football, two times for Basket-ball and three times for Track and Field. Tim has been awarded Most Outstanding Social Studies Student, Most Inspirational Basketball Player, Most Outstanding Freshman Boy in Track, and Most Improved Male Track participant. He was on the State Champion 4 X 100 team last year.

Tim has been involved the National Honor Society for four years, World Class Scholars for four years, participated in Food-ball for four years, the Saron Lutheran Church Youth Group for four years and was a Mr. Fantastic participant.

Seth Allen Moore is the son of Cindy and Rick Moore and has earned a 3.552 cumulative GPA. Seth will be attending Grays Harbor College for the first two years and then transfer to Washington State University to ac-quire his teaching degree. His plan is to teach in Hoquiam and coach.

Seth has lettered three years in Foot-ball and four years in Track and Field, where he was Team Captain and a two-

time District Qualifier. He has a two year letter for the Cheer-leading Stunt Team. Seth has been involved in Foodball, the Grays Harbor Relay for Life and Leadership class. He was the Senior Class Vice President, selected the Lions Club Student of the Month for November and a Mr. Fantastic participant.

Jacob Ian Lord is the son of Crys-tal Bowen and Edward West III and has earned a 3.543 cumulative GPA. Ian will attend the University of Wash-ington to study in the field of Physics. He aspires to be a physicist and would like to work for either a university or a government facility. Ian was awarded the Husky Promise, which will guar-antee him that full tuition and standard fees will be covered by grant or schol-arship support.

Ian has been very active during his four years at HHS. He has been involved in Marching Band, Cross Country and Track for four years. Ian was chosen Cross Country Most Valuable Player in 2011, Team Captain 2010 and 2011 and Most Inspirational all four years. He was also Track Team Captain for 2012.

Ian has been involved in the Grays Harbor Relay for Life, Food-ball, National Honor Society and has been in three of our drama department musicals. Ian was also a participant in the Mr. Fan-tastic pageant and on the Junior/Senior Prom Court.

Katelyn Jo Gwinn is the daugh-ter of Todd and Kathy Gwinn and has earned a cumulative GPA of 3.533. She will be attending Grays Harbor College in the fall to work toward her nursing degree, with the goal to be a neonatal nurse.

Katelyn has been involved in Volley-ball, Basketball and Fastpitch all four years of high school. She was honored with All-League in both Volleyball and

Fastpitch, and Most Inspirational Player in all three sports.

Katelyn has been active in ASB as Secretary of her Freshman Class, Treasurer of her Sophomore, and Treasurer for the Ex-ecutive Board her junior and senior year. She has also been in-volved in the Leadership Class, National Honor Society, Grays Harbor Relay for Life, and was Co-Chairperson for Foodball this year. She has been on the Yearbook and Grizzly Gazzette staff, elected Homecoming Queen, Lions Club Student of the Month for October and has received the Daughter’s of the Amer-ican Revolution Award.

Nickolas Charles Barry is the son of Brian and Sherry Barry and has a cumulative GPA of 3.539. Brian will be attending Washington State Univer-sity to earn a degree in Business and Communications.

Nick has played Football for four years where he earned a First Team All League for one year and second Team All League for two years. Nick has participated in Foodball and the high

school Native American Club.

Office CoordinatorCongratulations to Carmen Riffe as she was recently selected to be the new Of-fice Coordinator for Emerson Elementary School. She has been with Emerson for the past �7 years as a para professional. Car-men is looking forward to starting her new position at Emerson.

Congratulations to Lori Coady, the newly hired District Office Receptionist/Secretary to the Superintendent. She is replacing Patti Maxfield who is retiring at the end of July. Lori is coming from Emerson Elementary where she was the Office Coordinator. She is looking forward to her new role in the district.

Congratulations to Brock Maxfield, Assis-tant Principal at Hoquiam High School, as he was recently selected to become the next principal of Hoquiam High School. Brock is a graduate of HHS, attended Washington State University and returned to HHS as a teacher and Assistant Principal.

The Hoquiam School District is very pleased to announce the selection of Scott Hyder as the new high school assistant principal. Scott comes highly recommend-ed from the Yelm school district where he was involved with administrative, teaching and coaching duties.

• When: Parents may register their child between the hours of 7:�� am - �:�� pm.• Location: Emerson School• By law, your child must be � years old on or before August ��, 20�2.• Please bring your child to one of the registration times along with their birth certificate and immunization records.• It is very important to register your child as soon as possible. The number of students we have will determine staffing of teachers and assistants, class size and room assignments. If you know someone who has a kindergarten-aged child, please pass this information along!
