Presidents’ Message
Happy New Year to everyone. I hope everyone had a great holiday season.
2013 is off to a good start. The region has several tours already planned and more to come. Get your cars out of
the garage and dust them off and let’s go touring!
Cenla starts off with their tour on March 8-10 in Alexandra/Pineville area. Next up is the Contraband Chapters
37th
annual spring tour in Kinder, La. April 5th
-7th
2013. Next, we have the Louisiana Tour which will be hosted
by the Lagniappe chapter on the 3rd
-5th
of May in Houma. All the tours are well planned and a lot of work goes
into putting them together, so please make plans to attend one or several if you can. Looking forward to seeing
you down the road.

* = Points Earning Events. What is a “Points Earning Event”?
Each Chapter in the Louisiana Region must sponsor at least one “Points Earning Event” during
the year. It can be a one day or several days event. We have family days, car shows, driving
tours, sightseeing tours, or a combination of all four. In order to encourage participation in these
events the Region gives out attendance awards at the General membership Meeting/ Christmas
Lunch. Perfect attendance is not uncommon.

37th ANNUAL SPRING TOUR APRIL 5 – 7, 2013
A CAJUN LOU-OWW
HEADQUARTERS: COUSHATTA CASINO RESORT at Kinder, Louisiana, Hwy 165, PH # 1-800-584-7263. Room
rates are $100.00 total. Give Group Rate Reservations (Antique Car Group Code: ZACT0413) Cutoff date to make
reservations is March 22nd 2013. We only have a block of 40 rooms, so get your reservations in early. Cancellation can be
made up to 48hrs prior to arrival date. The Casino also has a very nice RV park.
Friday April 5th: Registration from 10:30 AM to 5 PM in the Drum room at the Coushatta Casino Hotel. Finger food and
snacks will be served in the Drum Room until 5PM.
Friday Night: Will be having supper at The Veranda overlooking the lake on the Golf Course. The meal will begin at
6PM. A cash bar is provided at The Veranda.
Saturday Morning: Breakfast will be served in the Drum Room from 8:00 AM till 10:00 AM.
Saturday: We have made arrangements to tour Louisiana Spirits new rum distillery in Lacassine, La. This will be a private
tour, the public will not be invited to this tour.
We have some other things being planned but not finalized as of yet.
Saturday Night: We will be having our Buffet at The Veranda over the lake on the golf course, from 5 PM till. The theme
of our Tour is A CAJUN LOU-OWW. You can Just Guess what we have come up with this year. Wear your grass skirts
and flowery shirts, dress shoes are not permitted. You guys can leave your lawn-mowers at home. More than anything
Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
Sunday Morning: Breakfast will be served in the Drum Room from 6AM till 9AM. Everyone drive Safely on your way
home, we have enjoyed your fellowship as always.

Louisiana Region – AACA Past President’s Award
1. The name of this award will be the “Past Presidents Award”.
2. The trophy will be awarded on a rotation basis for a period of twelve years.
It will be presented at the conclusion of the Louisiana Tour.
3. The name of the winner and description of the vehicle will be inscribed on a suitable tab and
attached to the trophy each year.
4. Each year’s winner will have possession of the trophy for one year and the trophy will be returned to the president of the Louisiana Region of AACA at The Louisiana Tour.
5. Each year the winner will be selected from a team consisting of at least one member from each chapter of the Louisiana Region of AACA that has a member participating in the tour. The team will be appointed by the president of the Louisiana Region each year at the Louisiana Tour. In selecting the team the president will attempt to appoint persons experienced in AACA, MOTAA or Classis Car Club judging or persons with broad experience in antique motor vehicle restoration. The president will not appoint anyone who has a vehicle that may be in contention for the award.
6. The trophy will be awarded to the owner of the vehicle determined by the team to be the best
restored vehicle participating in the Louisiana Tour that has not been awarded the trophy
previously.
7. To be eligible for consideration a vehicle must be at least 25 years old as determined by the model
year designated on the vehicle registration.
8. Vehicles where the drive train has been significantly modified form the original supplied with the
vehicle will not be eligible for consideration. This shall include, but not be limited to engine of a
different type size, automatic vs. standard transmission, wheel type and size, brake system and
electrical system.
9. In the event of a dispute arises over interpretation of these rules, arbitration committee consisting
of three members who shall all be past presidents of the Louisiana Region AACA will be appointed
by the Regional President to hoar the dispute and render a decision that will be binding on all
parties to the dispute and no further appeals on the matter in question will be heard.
10. When the trophy has been awarded twelve times it will be retired. The retired trophy will be
presented to a member of the Louisiana Region, AACA who over the years has shown outstanding
interest in and service to the region and the hobby. The recipient will be selected by a committee,
consisting of three past presidents of the Region that will be appointed by the Regional President.
Each chapter of the Region will be asked to submit the name of an individual, not limited to
members of that chapter, for consideration. The winner will be selected by the committee from
the names submitted.

Bucket Seats
US patent #D219584 was issued to Steve McQueen in 1970. Besides being a movie star, he loved
racing cars and working on engines. A by-product of his racing hobby was the invention of the bucket
seat.
