MUSICAL STORY GO ROUND Sat. Sept. 6 2:00 PM Ages 4-7 Have fun in the Musical Story Go Round. Every “ride” has something new and different while we read stories and move to the music. This month’s theme is Apples. Pre-registration is necessary and begins Aug. 23. PAWS TO READ Mon. Sept. 8 6:30 PM Grades K-4 Curl up with a book and read to a furry canine friend. Sept. 9 6:30 PM Grades 3-6* For a new spin on computer training, we’ll be learning the basics of computing through the building blocks of MINECRAFT! Nabi® is Here! The Nabi is a kid-friendly tablet loaded with fun and educational games that help support literacy be-

fore Kindergarten. Two brand new Nabi 2’s are now available to use anytime at the Early Literacy Desk in Youth Services.

Board Games Abound! The youth services department now has a collection of board games, including

classics like Clue, Monopoly and Battleship, available for in-house play anytime with an ID or Library Card.

Harvest Time in the Youth Garden Our SHPL Youth Garden is BOOMING with a delicious selection of

sweet corn, green beans, watermelon and more. From now until the end of the growing season we will be

hosting weekly harvest times every Wednesday from 12:00pm-1:00pm. Families are invited to make their se-

lections and try out their green thumbs.

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten The Summer Reading Program is officially over, but children aged 5 and

younger can still earn prizes for reading with the 1,000 Books before Kindergarten program. Participation is

ongoing and completely self-paced. Sign up anytime at the youth services department and receive your

starter kit.
