T his verse is laminated above my computer

screen, on our mirror in the bathroom, and

several other spots around our house. It’s

one of those verses that reminds me daily of my

calling in the Kingdom of God. When things get

tough, I can meditate on it. It’s a great prompt to

change my attitude when I feel myself slipping into

negativity.

Having the proper attitude is critical in walking

the road of faith. This idea of setting “my face as a

stone” is so important as we walk the narrow road.

Determination mixed with God’s grace is an incredi-

ble combination.

When this world tries to get you down, I hope

you will take these words to heart. Set your face as

a stone this day and know that God is with you.

in all things, we can be assured that we will triumph

The Road Less Traveled:

The Hard Sayings of Jesus

For the season of Lent we are looking at the

road that is less traveled by the world, but

the one we, as Christ followers, are called to

walk. During this time we will look at how

the hard sayings of Jesus help us stay on the

course so that our lives will reflect living for

something beyond ourselves.

March 11—Radical Re-Routing

March 18—Costly Course

Remember or honor a

loved one by dedicat-

ing a luminaria candle

to be lit during the

American Cancer Soci-

ety Relay for Life of

Canyon on April 20.

The luminaries are $5

each and all the contributions given will help

support the American Cancer Society, which is

dedicated to education, patient services, advo-

cacy, and research to find a CURE. There are

forms in the office or you can go online at

www.relayforlife.org/canyontx.

The UMW has cookbooks for sale. The cook-

books are $15 each and the money raised will

go to missions that UMW supports. If you are

interested in purchasing one, please call Sue

Silverthorn at (806) 220-4536.

Easter Basket Church Lenten Project

This year for our Lenten project we have decid-

ed to make Easter baskets for some of the

families in our own congregation. We would

like you to join us in this venture by donating

food items similar to those we put in the

Thanksgiving Baskets.

When you bring your items, please place

them in the baskets located at the front of the

Sanctuary behind the kneeling rails, and take

a moment to say a prayer for those who will be

receiving your gift. The items may also be

brought to my office, and we will accept mone-

tary donations as well.

I cannot wait to see what God has in store

for us during this season. May God cover you

in blessings!
