Alleluia! Christ is Risen!Easterhascome.Th ejoyofthe

resurrectionfillsthewholeearth.InthewordsoftheExultet,“earthandheavenarejoinedandmanisreconciledtoGod.”

So now what?AswereadthebookofActsduringtheEasterSeasonweseethattheHolySpiritstirsupthechurchtospreadthegoodnewsthroughouttheworld.Rarelydoesthishappeninwaysthatwerefamiliarorexpected.Oftenmorethanalittlediscomfortisinvolved.Noprogressismadebyhangingoutsolelyinthelockedupperroomwithfamiliarpeople.Ateverysteppeoplearestretched,uncertain,andamazed,thentryingdesperatelytofigureoutwhattheHolySpiritisactuallydoing.Yettheirprofoundprayerisanswered:“…grantyourservantstospeakwithgreatboldness,whileyou…healandsignsandwondersareperformedthroughthenameofyourholyservantJesus.”Godshakestheplace,fillsthemwiththeSpirit,andtheyspeakthewordwithboldness.(Acts4:29-31).

WeasachurchareexpectanttoseewhatGodhasinstorenext,especiallygiventhechangesintheworldaroundus.Nationally,theEpiscopalChurchhascommissionedataskforcetore-imaginethechurchandsuggesthowwecanrestructureourselvesmoreeffectivelyformissionandministry,andBishopSeanisamemberofthattaskforce.AnumberofpeopleatthelastGeneralConventioncametogetheraroundthetextsofActs8toprayanddiscernanddreamaboutwhattheHolySpiritisuptoamongus.Inspiredbythechurch’sgreathistoricmissionarysocietieswithaflairformoderncommunication,thisgroupwillmeetattheendofApriltoseektheguidanceoftheHolySpiritforourresponsetotheunique

throughus)canmakeapositiveimpactinsomeone’slife.AswecontinuetoliveintoGod’scallingforusasaparish,Hedrawsmorefolksclosertous.Heisbringingthemtousforcare.Asyourdeacon,Iamtryingtomatchparishskillswithneeds.Ifyouareinterestedindoingsomething….anything,butdon’tknowwhat,pleasecontactme.Evenifyouonlyhaveonehourpermonth,thereissomethingusefultodo,likebringingfolkstochurch,prayingforthem,callingtoseehowtheyaredoing….whicharewonderfulblessingsforallinvolved.Contactmetochataboutwhatinterestsyou,theopportunitiesavailablenoworsomeideasofyourown.Th e harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.Luke10:2

TamberdonatedThe ShackbyWmPaulYoung.Sinceitwasalreadyinourcollection,itwasdonatedtotheShenangoValleyCommunityLibrary.Madgealsodonatedsevenbooksfromtheyada yada Prayer GroupserieswrittenbyNetaJackson.Thenovelsareaboutawomen’sprayergroup,thefriendshipsformedandtheeffectontheirlives.StJohn’sLibrarywouldliketothankMadgeforherdonationsandwouldinviteallparishionerstocheckoutthebooksinourcollection.

IntheShenangoValley,changesinthewiderchurcharealsooccurring.ChristianAssociates,for40yearstheprimaryecumenicalorganizationinthearea,ispreparingitselfforanewphaseofministry.AllareinvitedtotheannualmeetingApril25thwhennewby-lawswillbeputinplace,andanintentionaltimeofprayeranddiscernmentfortheorganizationandtheregionwillbegin.Meanwhile,theBodyofChristcontinuestocometogetherinexcitingnewwaysaroundministriessuchasWestHill’sexpansion,ourcommunitykitchen,andinthesevencongregationsfromfourfaithtraditionscomingtocelebratetheEasterVigiltogether.

HereatSt.John’s,theHolySpiritisatwork.Newmembersarecoming,newministriesareforming,andestablishedministriesarebeingrenewed.Yetwemerelystandatthebeginningofthenextchapterofourparishlife.TheHolySpirithasmuchlefttowriteonourheartsandlives.MinistryopportunitiesarepresentingthemselvesrangingfromcommunitybuildingamongteenagershelpingwithourSaturdaylunchestoaVacationBibleSchoolforautisticchildren.Theneedfordaycareforthechildrenofthosereceivingjobtrainingandforrespitecareforseniorslivingathomewithafamilycaregiverhavebeenbroughttoourattention.Aswearewilling,Godistakingusout,evenwhenwearen’tquitesurewherewearegoing.

Duringthiscomingseason,IwouldaskyoutoprayforthegrowthofmissionandministryatSt.John’s,inourcommunity,andthroughouttheworld.PrayforlaborerstobesentintoGod’sharvest,foropendoorsforourministries,forfruittobeborne,andforthefinancialresourcesweneed.PraythatwehavecouragetoproclaimthegospelwithboldnessinbothwordanddeedandformightyworkstobeperformedhereinthenameofJesusChrist.Andgivethanksfor theincredibleprivilegeofparticipatinginwhattheHolySpiritis uptonext!

Diocesan Mission ConferenceThethemeofthisyear’sDiocesanMissionConferenceis

Transformational Stewardship.TheconferencewillbeheldonApril20atSt.Mark’sinErie.ThefeaturedspeakerswillbeDonaldRomanik,PresidentoftheEpiscopalChurchFoundation(ECF),andJimMurphy,ManagingProgramDirectorofECF.TheywillbeofferingaplenarysessiononTransformationalStewardshipandworkshopsonimplementingtransformationalstewardshipinyourparishandjump-startingcongregationalplannedgiving.

Asalways,therewillalsobeavarietyofworkshopsofferedintheafternoon.Registration is $15.00, which includes lunch, and registration begins at 8:30am with the program to begin at 9:00.
