Hello. We are Shane & Janelle, high school sweethearts, husband & wife creative team, and

letterpress aficionados. Together with the guys and gals on the in-house design and printing

teams, we make up the Paisley Dog Press family. Combining newfangled ideas with century

old equipment and a 550 year old printing process couples around the world trust us to tell

their love stories through unique and inspired eco-conscious paper goods. Here at

Paisley Dog Press, we uphold the rare tradition of care and craftsmanship in printmaking.

behind the company“paisley dog press began because we believe this so-called dying art is still very much alive and the need to unplug

from the world and make something from scratch, something human is crucial.”

Letterpress printing is a form of relief printing that was the norm from its invention by Johannes Gutenberg

in the mid-15th century until late in the 19th century. In very simple terms, ink is applied to the design on

a raised surface and the design is pressed against paper to make an ‘impression’. The finished piece

has a tactile quality, with a layer of ink and a slight indentation where the design pressed against the paper,

giving it a textured look and feel. Letterpress is a very labor intensive process, and at Paisley Dog Press each

piece we print is touched by human hands at least 6 times.

Our house paper...is a 100% cotton paper stock that is recycled from old jeans.

We Recycle ... our rags, our paper, our plates, our inks; we even recycle our glass bottles.

Human Powered ... Most of our presses are powered without electricity, solely run by

our blood, sweat, and tears.

We’ve created “Style Guides” to help you envision how each design enhances the wedding day

you’re dreaming of. Make each suite your own with customizable ink colors, papers, envelopes,

and finishing touches.

tip: Q: When do I mail the invitations? A: Invites are typically sent out 6 to 8 weeks before the wedding. This allows time for people to RSVP.

Martha Stewart hosted an Etsy inspired show. Our own Janelle Paisley was there to represent Paisley Dog Press with a limited edition letterpress print in lemon yellow and ocean blue. The show was all about Etsy and its sellers. It included interviews with Etsy’s vice president of marketing, Matt Stinchcomb & Etsy’s merchandising specialist Emily Bidwell, an all-Etsy fashion show (with handmade, vintage, kid and pet items) and two crafting how-tos by Etsy sellers. Like fashion belts, Belly Bands accessorize and accentuate the look of your ensemble. They are primarily used to hold all your wedding stationery pieces together, but they also help to establish and communicate your wedding theme to your guests. This is a great place to experiment with materials and de-sign elements. We can help you “tie the look together” using a paper band, ribbon band with printed accent, or another combination of materials.

An old art form that began with artists dressing up books with gold leaf and illustrations to easily spot the book when edges faced outward. Today, we have created a modern twist by using neons, metallics, and custom Pantone color matching to make your invitations pop. To make things really interesting choose a contrasting or complementary color that’s not used in your invitation to add more dimension to the suite.

Pocket folds are like an inner envelope for your wedding suite, enclosing all your pieces together. If you have 4 or more pieces, a pocket fold is the way to go because you don’t want all those pieces moving around in the mail. The invitation is adhered to the pocket fold, while your additional pieces will slide nicely into the attached pocket. Our pocket folds can come in a wide variety of colors.
