Class 4 - Supine Upper Body (Yin & Yang Arms)

Preparing for Yin Arms - Lung (Elbow Treatment)

You’ll use your “near elbow” for your mother elbow!

Place mother elbow at LU 1.

Lean up and over to open LU 1 and open the ribcage. Remember it’s your “near elbow” that makes contact. Child elbow falls back into LU channel in upper arm.

Your aim is to feel the ribcage open, the space between ribs widening, and the arm softening and relaxing. Slide down the arm, progressively opening to LU 9 at the wrist.

Pericardium - treatment with elbows

Place mother elbow at LU 1, even though we are treating Pericardium. This will give you the leverage to

open the ribs.

Child forearm treats Pericardium. Slide from point to point, feel for the arm and chest opening and

softening.

Continue all the way to PC 7 at the center of the wrist crease.

The more the meridian opens, the more the elbow holds the space open at the chest…

Maximum Spine Space

Maximum Support

Your aim is to feel the ribcage open, the space between ribs widening, and the arm softening and relaxing.

Hold 3-5 points in each section of the arm, sliding down between points, progressively opening the meridian to PC at the wrist.

Lung - Treatment with Knee

Keep your attention on your mother hand, and hold the chest/meridian open from Lung 1.

Float a knee gently down the Lung channel, holding points and sliding down between points, progressively opening to LU 9 at the wrist.

Feel for the softening and opening in the arm and chest. If your receiver ever feels that the knee is heavier than the mother hand, adjust.

Pericardium - Treatment with Knee

For Pericardium we will treat the forearm only, not the upper arm. Feel for the progressive relaxation of the chest and arm, keep your attention on the mother hand, holding the increasing space that is made

For receivers with female breast structure, the mother hand position would be different. The giver would make first contact above the breast tissue, then slide to displace the breast tissue out of the way so that the placement lands on muscle and not breast tissue, and the fingers would point horizontally towards the sternum rather than diagonally as pictured.

Small Intestine - Treatment with Knee

Preparing for SI knee technique Two child hands hold, address mother knee to SI. You can start even closer to the axilla than pictured here.

Notice the angle of approach of the knee, entering the center of the limb via the SI vector

Your Mother Knee keeps the arm in place as your working hands bring the arm to your knee. The client should feel a sense of opening and lift at the shoulder.

Continue along the SI channel to the elbow, feeling for the lift each time. Your knee and hands don’t literally lift the arm, but that should be the result of your movement.

Triple Heater - Treatment with Knee

Preparing for TH knee technique Notice the different angle of approach of the knee, entering the center of the limb via the TH vector

Continue along the TH channel to the elbow, feeling for the lift each time. Your knee and hands don’t literally lift the arm, but that should be the result of your movement.

As needed, get taller to keep your angle into the center of the limb as you near the elbow. Feel for the sense of lift in the shoulder and relaxation of the arm.

Large Intestine - Upper Arm Treated with Knee

Open into LI position. Float the knee in. Your mother hand brings the meridian to your knee.

Continue down to the elbow

Posterior Vacation of the Scapula

Take the arm across, reach the upstage hand underneath to get to the medial border of the scapula…

Bring the mother hand to overlap the receiver’s olecranon and

forearm

Apply this angle so the receiver’s scapula vacates backwards, away

from the ribcage.

Then also encourage a superior and lateral widening of the scapula.
