Driver Distraction According to a NHTSA / Virginia Tech

Transportation Institute (VTTI) study, 80% of crashes and 65% of near-crashes are due to driver distraction.

Over 3,300 people were killed and 387,000 injured in distracted driving accidents in 2011 in the USA.

Major distractions leading to crashes are: – Cell phone use– Texting– Reaching for an object inside the vehicle– Looking at something outside the vehicle– Reading– Applying makeup
