What campus activities or organizations are you involved with?

I am currently involved with Porter Hall CLT as the community engagement chair as well as the Miami University Dressage Team. I support and occasionally attend the meetings of the Pre-Vet Club and Outdoor Adventure Club. I am a sister in the gamma class of Delta Delta Delta and would consider this my favorite activity I am involved in on campus. Over the summer I am a camp instructor at Unbridled in Cincinnati Ohio.

What experience do you have with graphic design?

I have been drawing and designing since I could talk and even considered majoring in interior design (still considering it actually). I design all of the posters for my residence hall's CLT and RA events. I have designed t-shirts for high school events and for my Greek family (the Disney Princesses). Although I am more familiar with a paintbrush and paper, I have learned to use Microsoft programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher to deliver colorful, thought provoking, engaging, and informative flyers, posters, and presentations. One of my most recent endeavors using graphic design was in creating and designing a poster for the undergraduate research forum with the MBI 224 class. I am familiar with Photoshop, however not the best at using it. I see this position as an opportunity to become familiar with and use new programs to design even better graphic displays for the Pan-Hellenic community that the entire student and staff population will enjoy.

I’m just so excited to tell you about me!

Why are you interested in working with Panhellenic?

I am interested in working with Panhellenic because I believe the women who work for and with them are some of the brightest, most innovative, and most intelligent women worldwide. Just the other week at the Circle of Sisterhood discussion I was able to speak with Ginny Carroll, a wonderful woman who found her passion for helping others by joining Greek life and working with Panhellenic. I want to be like Ginny and the women of Panhellenic who inspire women in and out of the Greek community to do something wonderful for someone else everyday no matter how small. I fully embraced not only the Delta Delta Delta values and ideas, but the values and ideas of Panhellenic women as a collective group from day one. I think that being able to combine my passions of all things creative, innovative, and artistic with my eagerness to spread positive word about Panhellenic's events and the Sororities with established chapters at Miami University is an amazing opportunity, and for me being the Graphic Designer is that opportunity.

How well do you work with tight deadlines?

I work fairly well with tight deadlines. I produce some of my best work when the deadline starts getting closer. I am not going to say that I work "great" or "the best" under tight deadlines because that would be a lie, but I do work well and am always dedicated to my work no matter when that deadline is. The stress level with the projects I imagine this job would entail would be dependent mostly on the project itself and how much notice I would have before that deadline. So perhaps I should say tight deadlines aren't really a problem, however being a bit of a perfectionist I am not the happiest if I only have a few days to create a project that I know could be even more amazing with more time. The job always gets done, but I like the job done the best it can be done and so usually having at least a few days to design a flyer or poster or advertisement for the Armstrong TVs would be my preference.
