“Portare Verona nel mondo e il mondo a Ve-rona”. Un obiettivo ambizioso quello lancia-to più di un anno fa da Pantheon Lifestyle, che ci riprova con questa terza pubblica-zione. Siamo ancora convinti che la forza turistica della nostra città abbia potenzialità di espansione anche e non solo in estate e durante il Natale, ma attorno a quegli even-ti, come il Carnevale, che sono da sempre momenti tipici della tradizione veronese di fare festa.Ecco perché questo terzo numero esce adesso, perché come guida veronese per i turisti, vuole rappresentare anche un perio-do dell’anno in cui la città diventa, per anto-nomasia, dei veronesi. Ed è forse questo uno dei periodi migliori per visitarla, scoprirla, e riconoscerne le caratteristiche che ne fanno una meta così unica al mondo.Non possiamo dimenticarci però di Verona in Love, la festa che incorona Verona città dell’Amore. Si tratta di un appuntamento che per un fine settimana colorerà la città di cuori, di baci e di promesse. Da tutto il mondo le coppie arrivano nella nostra città per scambiarsi qualche nuovo proposito o per promettersi l’eterna unione, e anche se non siete troppo romantici, si tratta di un al-tro dei momenti più coinvolgenti dell’intera annata.Il mio sogno personale, da direttore di Pan-theon, resta però sempre quello di portare i turisti a scoprire tradizioni e zone nascoste, ma dal fascino senza tempo. Pensiamo al Carnevale e alle sue maschere, pensiamo ai sapori della cucina invernale, ma pensiamo anche alle vie del centro in una fredda sera d’inverno, magari in uno degli angoli meno battuti dal normale interesse turistico, e an-cora carichi di una bellezza che solo un ve-ronese saprebbe far apprezzare.Se anche voi cercate una Verona un po’ di-versa, più intima, più accogliente ed estre-mamente affascinante, allora Pantheon Life-style saprà farvela scoprire.

The skeptics are quite anxious: can you imagine the abashment of fal-ling in love for those who have always mocked love?The sentimental ones, however, should be very careful, because they might be-gin to rave randomly, but probably at Christmas time and on Valentine’s Day. The Romantics are the only ones who are not at risk of infection. On the contrary, this love virus strengthens their immune system and improves their mood becau-se they do not fear love, as it is part of their DNA.

Well, after thorough investigations the detectives eventually discovered some great leads. Hear, hear! You will not be-lieve it, dear Readers, but rumors and unconfirmed reports state that a group of “love conspirators” is spreading words of hope and love throughout the world

through letters.The latest official Reuters bulletin in-forms us that the epicenter of this epi-demic of love has been located in the historic center of Verona, in Vicolo Santa Cecilia, which turns out to be the premi-ses of the Juliet Club...But how does the Juliet Club spread messages of love and hope all across the globe?For years a team of passionate and skil-led volunteers - the “Secretaries of Juliet”, from Verona, Italy and other countries, have been responding to the thousan-ds of letters and messages sent from all over the world to Juliet. It is indeed very easy to send a letter to her, just write on the envelope: Juliet, Verona.All the letters received at the Juliet Club are given a personal reply in the same language as the sender, in other words in virtually any language as the world. Since the release of the famous movie “Letters to Juliet”, the Club has been get-ting more and more offers of support to answer letters in different languages. Each letter is listed in a catalogue and then kept in a rich archive with hundreds of thousands of love stories. The Juliet Club is the place where all these stories are preserved forever.“Cara Giulietta, Dear Juliet, Chère Juliet-te, Liebe Julia”: the senders always begin their letters with an invocation and the desire to tell the story of their love. Juliet takes the role of Custodian of the myri-ads of words of love, joy, sorrow or lone-liness written in any language.

CENNI STORICI SULLA CITTÀOgni angolo, ogni mattone, ogni picco-lo particolare della città di Verona na-sconde una grande tradizione, un pez-zo di storia o di leggenda. I veronesi lo sanno bene, quando si apre un cantiere in centro storico, è quasi scontato che i lavori rallenteranno per il ritrovamento di reperti archeologici.Passeggiare per le vie del centro sarà come scoprire passo passo un angolo di tradizione, storia e leggenda. Forse anche da qui l’esigenza che, nel 2000, ha portato l’Unesco a iscrivere Verona nel Patrimonio dell’Umanità. La gran-

de storia di Roma si percepisce in lun-go e in largo gironzolando per la città scaligera. Documentati a partire dal III secolo, i contatti con l’Impero permise-ro a Verona di trasformarsi da piccolo centro agricolo in una grande e monu-mentale città. Testimonianza primaria di questo passaggio è l’Arena, uno degli anfiteatri meglio conservati del mondo. Risale al I secolo d.C. in origine permet-teva a 25mila spettatori di assistere alle cruente battaglie dei gladiatori e oggi può ospitare fino a 20mila persone. Seppure in inverno non si utilizzi per gli spettacoli al suo interno, la tradizione per cui fu costruita è rimasta nel tem-po. Originariamente pensata per essere articolata in tre anelli concentrici, oggi del terzo dimane solo un piccolo tratto, la cosiddetta “ala”, mentre la seconda si conserva ancora perfettamente intatta.

Risalente allo stesso periodo anche il Teatro Romano, costruito sulle rive dell’Adige in una delle zone più sugge-stive della città. Un’opera che il mondo intero invidia a Verona ma che, a dif-ferenza dell’Arena, ha risentito mag-giormente dello scorrere del tempo. Originariamente composto da due pa-rasceni laterali, un muro di dietrosce-nio e un frontescena, oggi conserva la cavea (105mt di larghezza) appoggiata al Colle San Pietro, la gradinata, molte arcate di logge e resti della scena.

Bei einem Spaziergang durch die Straßen im Zen-trum kann man immer Ecke entdecken, die mit Tradition, Geschichte und Legende gefüllt sind. Das ist vielleicht auch ein Grund, weil Verona in 2000 in die UNESCO Liste des Welterbes aufgenommen wurde. Man kann die Geschichte der Römer, die ab dem 3. Jahrhundert dokumentiert ist, wirklich spüren, wenn man durch die Stadt und ihre Gassen bummelt. Als Erinnerung an römische Zeiten bleibt zuerst die Arena, eines der am besten aufbewahrten Amphitheater der Welt. Die Arena von Verona wur-de im 1. Jahrhundert von den Römern gebaut. Am Anfang fasste die Arena zirka 25.000 Zuschauer und wurde für Gladiatorenkämpfe genutzt und heute bietet 20.000 Zuschauern Platz. Im gleichen Zei-traum wurde auch das römische Theater am Ufer des Etsch Flusses in einer schönsten Ecke der Stadt aufgebaut. Darum beneidet Verona die ganze Welt aber leider hat das römisches Theater von den Fol-gen der Laufe der Zeit gespürt.

Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, l’ala dell’Arena che oggi si staglia proprio davan-ti a Via Mazzini, venne pun-tellata con degli enormi sostegni di cemento per proteggerla dai bombardamen-ti. Alla fine del conflitto i contrafforti furono tolti e venne completato il consolidamento strutturale nel 1956.

Questa mostra è diventata famosa anche per la bellissima Stella di Natale che viene installata in Piazza Bra come se uscisse dalle gradinate dell'an-fiteatro. Questa imponente struttura venne realizzata inizialmente proprio per simboleggiare la Rassegna, ma i veronesi la apprezzarono al tal punto che viene ora identificata con il Natale della città. Verschie-dene Werke aus aller Welt werden in den Gewöl-begängen der Arena di Verona ausgestellt sein. Diese Ausstellung ist auch berühmt geworden dank dem riesigen leuchtenden Weihnachtsstern, dessen Schweif aus der Arena entspringt. Aufgrund dieser Ausstellung wurde der Weihnachstern gestellt aber er war von Anfang so beliebt, dass er jetzt mit dem Weihnachten identifiziert ist. Verona e dolce, in inverno, fanno rima con Pandoro, il dolce tipico per eccel-lenza, anche se molti veronesi si tro-vano concordi che questo soffice pane dolce non rappresenti la vera tradizione del Natale scaligero. Sembra che le ori-gini della ricetta siano austriache, e che derivi a sua volta dal croissant francese. Origini di questo dolce si trovano ad-dirittura negli scritti di Plinio il Vecchio (I sec. d.C.) che ne parlava come di un “pane con fiori di farina, burro e olio”. Se-

Winter, Verona and cake rhyme with Pandoro, the typical dessert par excellence, although many pe-ople from Verona agree that this soft sweet bread is not their traditional cake. Most probably, it is the “industrial son” of Nadalin the most traditional cake of Verona to be found only in the most famous swe-etshops in the city nowadays. It was not before 1894 that Domenico Melegatti, owner of the company that bears his name, filed a patent of the Pandoro as we know it today, with its classical eight pointed star shape.

Viele Veroneser aber denken, dass dieses weiche Brot nicht der echten Tradition der Scaliger-Weihnachten entspricht. Es scheint, dass das Rezept ursprünglich aus Österreich kommt und das Croissant ein Vorläufer des Pandoro ist. SCOPRIRE LA VERONA D’INVERNO




Partite da Piazza Bra, salotto della città. Prendete il tempo che serve per visitar-la. Dall'Arena, che ospita la Rassegna Presepi fino al 26 gennaio, al Palazzo Barbieri, oggi sede del Comune di Ve-rona. Fate un ampio giro intorno ai giardini e imboccate Via Roma, quella che per i veronesi rappresenta un po' la cultura artistica della città. Qui si affac-cia il Teatro Filarmonico, che in inver-no ricopre il ruolo che in estate spetta all'Arena e alla lirica. Via Roma vi con-durrà diritti nel cuore medievale della città, ovvero a Castelvecchio che con il suo Ponte Scaligero vi faranno respi-rare l'aria delle romanze cavalleresche. Attraversate il Ponte fino all'Arsenale Militare. Da questo punto della città riuscirete a fare delle foto spettacolari del ponte e delle case arroccate sulla

sponda interna dell'Adige.Da questo punto di vista emerge chia-ramente la tradizione fluviale della città, tanto che qui sotto al Ponte Scaligero, un tempo si fermavano i barcaioli per scaricare la merce. Il commercio passa-va infatti dal fiume prima che dalle stra-de. Dopo aver visitato l'arsenale, fate ritorno a Castelvecchio e percorrete tutto Corso Cavour fino a Porta Borsa-ri. Si tratta di una delle porte romane di accesso alla città, che in origine aveva il nome di “Porta Iovia” per la presenza del vicino tempietto dedicato proprio a Giove. Il nome attuale trae ispirazio-ne dai “bursarii”, ovvero i soldati che riscuotevano il dazio di passaggio per l'ingresso a Verona. Al di là della porta, durante San Valentino, troverete cuori rossi accesi sopra di voi.

Su Corso Porta Borsari si affaccia il Pa-lazzo Melegatti che riconoscerete in quanto sulla sommità della facciata sono posti due pandori scolpiti nella pietra. È proprio qui che nel 1894 ebbe origine la ricetta che oggi rappresenta le festività veronesi in tavola. Poco più avanti vi ritroverete in Piazza Erbe, la vecchia piazza del mercato, chiassosa e colorata con le sue bancarelle che an-cora oggi attirano non solo turisti, ma anche i veronesi.Potete proseguire oltre Piazza Erbe per raggiungere la chiesa di Sant'Anasta-sia, vicina al punto più interno della cit-tà romana. Iniziata nel 1290 e mai com-pletata, sembra incastonata come una piccola gemma tra le case del centro. In realtà la chiesa è dedicata a San Pietro (copatrono della città), ma i veronesi l'hanno sempre identificata con il nome precedente.Qui nel 1954 si svolsero i funerali dell'oggi San Giovanni Calabria.Tornate indietro di qualche passo se-guendo Corso Sant'Anastasia in cui potrete apprezzare le botteghe tradi-zionali che vi si affacciano. Imboccate quindi via delle Fogge, una stretta viuz-za che vi condurrà dritti dentro a Piaz-za dei Signori nota anche come Piazza Dante. Una curiosità: sotto l'Arco della Costa, che collega Piazza delle Erbe con Piazza Dante, è appesa una costola di balena la cui presenza è ancora un mi-stero. Leggenda anche sulla statua di Gi-rolamo Fracastoro, posta sulla sommità della Loggia del Consiglio. Si dice che la sfera di pietra che tiene in mano, cadrà Piazza dei Signori

al passaggio del primo uomo onesto. Dopo queste due bellissime piazze, me-rita un passeggiata anche via Cappello dove anche in inverno dovete fermarvi alla Casa di Giulietta e il suo balcone. Di recente, la statua dedicata all'eroina shakespeariana si è lacerata nella zona del seno, che viene toccata come “por-tafortuna” da migliaia di turisti. Poco più avanti anche un'altra porta romana, la Porta Leoni oggi quasi nascosta tra le case di via Leoni, ma della quale non si conosce l'originale nome romano. Prendete il tempo per scattare qualche foto da Ponte Navi che vi consentirà di avere una splendida vista su Verona e sulle colline retrostanti la città.Tornate quindi indietro in via Cappello e seguite tutta via Mazzini. Una volta tornati in Piazza Bra, se ne avrete vo-glia, potrete soffermarvi a fotografare l'orologio a doppio arco che da acces-so alla piazza dal Corso Porta Nuova.

Discovering Verona in Winter

Set off from Piazza Bra, the “living room” of the city. The Nativity Scene Exhibition/Competition will be hosted in the Arena until January 26. Take a large tour around the gardens and then go into Via Roma. Here stands the Philarmonic Theatre, which plays in winter the same role the Arena plays in summer. Via Roma will take you to Castelvecchio which, together with Ponte Scaligero, represent the medieval heart of the city. Then cross the bridge to the Arsenale Militare. After visiting the Arsena-le, go back to Castelvecchio and walk along Corso Cavour to Porta Borsari. This is one of the Roman gates and the main entrance to the city. The current name was inspired by the “bursarii”, soldiers who collected the tax for entering Verona. In Corso Porta Borsari, beyond the gate there is Palazzo Melegatti. You will immediately recognise it by the two pan-doro cakes made of stone placed at the top of the façade. Just a few steps away you’ll find yourself in Piazza Erbe, the old market square. From there you can visit the church of Sant’Anastasia, close to the innermost point of the roman city or enter directly Piazza dei Signori, also known as Piazza Dante. A curiosity: under the Arco della Costa which connects Piazza delle Erbe with Piazza Dante a whale rib is hanging, its presence still being a mistery. The same mistery also surrounds the statue Girolamo Fraca-storo, placed on the top of the Loggia del Consiglio. It is said that the stone ball in his hand will fall at the passage of the first honest man. A stroll in Via Cappello is also worthwhile thanks to Juliet’s Hou-se. Don’t forget to touch it as it is supposed to bring good luck. A few steps farther there is another Ro-man gate: Porta Leoni, now almost hidden among the houses. Take your time to take some photos from Ponte Navi and then go into Via Macello, where the Nativity Scene Exhibition/Competition will be held until January 13. Go back to Via Cappello and into Via Mazzini, and then return to Piazza Bra where, if you feel like it, you can stop and take some photos of the double arch clock which gives access to the square from Corso Porta Nuova.

Noch weiter ein andere römi-sche Tor, Porta Leoni, das heute fast versteckt zwi-schen Häuser ist. Fotografieren Sie auch Ponte Navi und dann bringen Sie via Marcello, wo findet bis 13. Januar die Krippenausstellung statt. Kehren Sie nach via Cappello zurück und gehen Sie via Mazzi-ni unter der Weihnachtsbeleuchtung entlang. Wenn Sie auf Piazza Bra ankommen, erblicken Sie die zwei großen Bögen des Stadttores und in der Mitte gibt es eine schöne Uhr, die Sie fotografieren können. Hier ist der Platz des Corso Porta Nuova. Ecco perché tutti i mu-sei di Verona sono una delle attrattive più importanti durante i mesi freddi. Persino i veronesi ignorano l'esistenza di alcune di queste strutture, come il Museo della Radio d'Epoca, realizzato all'interno dell'Istituto Tecnico Statale Galileo Ferraris, a pochi passi dal centro storico. Ma non è il solo. Anche il Museo Miniscalchi Erizzo è conosciut0 a pochi veronesi, nonostante si trovi in un bel-lissimo palazzo storico a pochi passi dal Duomo e dal centro della città. Prende-te il vostro tempo, dimenticate la fretta e dedicatevi a scoprire questi luoghi non solo per quello che contengono, ma anche per le bellissime sale che li ospitano.

Torre dei LambertiProtagonista della kermesse dei cuori sarà la Torre dei Lamberti. Alta 84 metri, da cui potrete dominare a vista l'intera città di Verona. Potrete salire a piedi con con l'ascensore d'acciaio che vi porterà in cima. Anche questo imponente tor-rione è legato ad una storia amorosa.Si narra che la contessa Lucia dei Niche-losa lanciò dalla torre una grossa pietra contro la sua rivale in amore, centran-dola e uccidendola. Venne incarcerata, ma i suoi soldi la fecero liberare ben presto, e per risolvere l'inghippo fece forgiare una campana in memoria della defunta rivale.Una delle due campane oggi presenti in cima alla torre, la Marangona, è proprio questa, dedicata alla defunta amante. Durante Verona in Love varrà la pena scambiarsi un bacio da lassù.

Torre dei Lamberti (“Lamberti Tower”) From the top of the 84 meter high Torre dei Lamber-ti you can have the stunning view on the entire city of Verona. Legend says that the Countess Lucia dei Nichelosa launched a large stone from the tower against her rival in love, hitting and killing her. She was imprisoned but in order to be set free she forged a bell in memory of her deceased rival.

Say “I love you” without feeling embarrassed For those who would like to share the feeling of San Valentine’s Day in the most intimate of ways, there will be the possibility to participate in a one minute long group kiss which will be held in Piazza dei Si-gnori (also known as Piazza Dante).

Am Va-lentinstag aber diese Liebe wird intensiver und sie erweicht selbst Herzen aus Stein, die allein in der Stadt, Einzelgänger, die durch die Straßen schlen-dern.Vom 13. bis 16. Februar 2014, Die Stadt wird ein ro-mantisches Liebesnest. „Wenn Du jemanden liebst, dann bring ihn nach Verona” so lautet das Mot-to der Veranstaltungsreihe „Verona in Love“ und im Jahr 2014 wird die 9. Auflage stattfinden. Alle Straßen in der Stadtmitte werden mit roten Herzen geschmückt, die Schaufenster der Boutiquen wer-den mit Herzen und Cupidos dekoriert, der Eintritt zu den Orten der Liebe in der Stadt wird diskon fur Liebespaare. Aber das ist noch nicht alles: das Ve-ranstaltungsprogramm ist noch vielfältiger und ereignisreicher!

Julias Geschichte entdeckenIn der Woche vom Valentinstag werden die Paare, die eine Stadtführung buchen werden, Sonderprei-se bekommen, vor allem für die Stadttouren in den Orte Shakespeares Tragödie mit historischen Hinweisen enthalten. Außerdem, vom 10:00 Uhr bis 19:00 Uhr kann jeder mit den ehrenamtlichen Mitar-beitern des Club di Giulietta den hunderten Briefen, die an diesem Club gesendet werden, antworten.

Bei Kerzenlicht In zahlreichen Lokalen und Restaurants wird die Ini-tiative „Due cuori a tavola“ (zwei Herzen zu Tisch) stattfinden. Die Paare werden ein Liebe-Menu fin-den und sie können Preise gewinnen.

Torre dei LambertiDer Turm ist 84 Meter hoch und beschert einem den besten Rundumblick über die Altstadt. Es wird erzählt, dass Gräfin Lucia von Nichelosa von dem Turm einen Stein nach ihrer Nebenbuhlerin warft. Der Stein hat sie getroffen und sie ist gestorben. Die Gräfin wurde ins Gefängnis eingesperrt.

BACIAMI A VERONA Un piccolo percorso anche per scoprire la Verona più romantica. Ci sono tanti modi per vivere questo percorso di vi-sita, ma il migliore di tutti è senza dub-bio quello di farlo mano nella mano alla persona con cui condividete un affetto, una storia, un amore o la vita stessa. Partiamo sempre da Piazza Bra per-ché durante Verona in Love, anche qui vi sentirete circondati dall'aura magica della città degli innamorati. Lasciate la piazza centrale dirigendovi verso il cimitero monumentale e seguendo le mura della città lungo via degli Alpini e via Pallone. Svoltate su via del Pontie-re e arriverete alla Tomba di Giulietta. Qui, secondo il romanzo di Shakespe-are, trovarono la morte i due famosi amanti. Non dovete ricercare qui la storicità dei luoghi, quanto il loro mi-sticismo amoroso, la loro forte conno-

tazione sentimentale. Il sepolcro che vi troverete davanti è diventato il simbolo dell'amore eterno, della forza degli af-fetti che vincono la morte. Qui anche una statua di due amanti cinesi che vissero una storia molto simile a quella degli eroi di Shakespeare. Dopo questo luogo mistico, tornate su via Pallone e attraversatela. Percorrete tutta via Do-gana fino a San Fermo (Ponte Navi). Qui salite via Cappello fino alla Casa di

Giulietta dove troverete il balcone e la famosa statua alla quale è d'obbligo la “toccatina” portafortuna. In realtà non è il balcone ad attirare l'attenzione, ma la possibilità di lasciare la propria pro-messa d'amore sul muro, scrivendola, incidendola o appiccicandola. Poco più avanti, in Piazza Erbe, la bellissima Torre dei Lamberti dalla quale, salen-do, potrete ammirare anche l'immenso cuore rosso che sarà allestito in Piazza dei Signori dove Verona in Love vivrà il suo fulcro. Ma se volete visitare davvero ogni angolo, allora non potete dimen-ticare la Casa di Romeo che si trova in Via Arche a pochi passi da Piazza dei Signori. Qui una casa con tetto a mer-letto e con un grande portone reca la scritta “casa di Cagnolo Nogarola, detto Romeo (sec. XIV)” e compare qualche timida scritta celebrativa lasciata dagli innamorati in “pellegrinaggio”. Per ter-minare in modo degno questa vostra visita, vi consigliamo di salire al Castel San Pietro per avere anche da qui una vista panoramica e romantica sulla cit-tà. Per farlo, attraversate il Ponte Pietra fin dall'altra parte delle rive dell'Adige e salite la stretta scalinata (267 gradini) che sale la collina proprio di fronte allo stesso Ponte. Arriverete su un terrazzo panoramico che farà sciogliere il cuo-re anche ai meno romantici. Se avrete voglia di contare, al gradino numero 157 troverete un piccolo cancello che da accesso ad un piccolo giardino con delle panchine dove riposarvi prima di riprendere la scalata.

Il carnevale a Verona dura solo il tempo di un venerdì? Niente di più sbagliato, perché se è vero che l'apice della festa carnevalesca scaligera si gioca tutto con il venerdì gnocolar del “Bacanal del Gnoco” (28 febbraio 2014), le feste e le sfilate connesse con questa bellissima tradizione durano per quasi quattro mesi! Il Carnevale di Verona nacque nel Cinquecento durante un terribile mo-mento di povertà in cui il popolo vero-nese, in preda alla fame e alla povertà, decise di assaltare in tumulto i fornai di San Zeno. Grazie all'intervento di alcuni facoltosi cittadini, vennero distribuiti dei viveri alla folla, e scelti dodici mani-festanti per una cena di tutto rispetto seduti al tavolo di San Zeno, e serviti da Tommaso Da Vico, che venne nominato come primo “Gran Cerimoniere del Bac-canale del Gnocco”. Fu la nascita non solo di una tradizione che prosegue fino ad oggi, ma anche della maschera più antica d'Italia e probabilmente an-che in Europa.

Die Veroneser waren so arm und so hungrig, dass es einen Bro-taufstand in San Zeno gab. Mit der Hilfe von reichen Menschen, werden der Bevölkerung Lebensmittel gegeben. Zwölf Personen wurden gewählt und sie hatten am Tisch von San Zeno gegessen und von Tommaso Da Vinco gedient, der als erste „Gran Ceri-moniere del Baccanale del Gnocco“ gewählt wurde.

Rispetto al sontuoso e a volte un po' spocchioso carnevale veneziano, quel-lo di Verona è molto più semplice. L'aria di festa che si respira coinvolge grandi e piccoli come se fossero tutti parte di una grande tradizione popolare. E lo si capisce anche dalle maschere di questa festa. Il Papa del Gnoco è il re della tradizione carnevalesca veronese. Sfila con il “piròn” (forchetta) in mano sul quale fa bella mostra un gigante-sco gnocco di patata. La scelta di chi vestirà i panni di questo protagonista è molto lunga, inizia a novembre nei vari quartieri di appartenenza e si procede con una lunga serie di candidature fino

all'investitura ufficiale che avviene con i primi giorni di febbraio. Un gruppo di anziani si riunisce a San Zeno per votare il vincitore, a seguito di una vera e pro-pria campagna elettorale con volantini, comizi, manifesti e tanti brindisi. Un'al-tra maschera tutta veronese è il Conte Polenton che porta con sé la “ramina” (paiolo) con la pietanza simbolo dell'e-poca contadina e rappresenta il Borgo I Maggio (Montorio). Ma tra i figuranti che il venerdì gnocolar sfilano a Verona, troviamo tutta un'altra lunga serie di maschere, tutte legate ad un quartiere o zona della città. Eccone alcune...Duca della Pignata (quartiere S. Stefa-

no) in sfilata insieme al Dio dell'OroFesteggia l'ultimo lunedì di carnevale, chiamato “luni pignatàr” o lunedì gras-so. È l'ultimo giorno in cui abbuffarsi prima dell'inizio della Quaresima.

Madonna Verona (centro città)rappresenta la parte più ricca della cit-tà, il centro storico, ed è rappresentata anche dalla statua che si staglia al cen-tro di Piazza Erbe.

La Parona de Parona (Parona)Si festeggia il mercoledì delle ceneri, quando in questo quartiere si tiene la Festa de la Renga (ovvero dell'aringa) in cui viene distribuita polenta abbrustoli-ta con l'aringa sottolio. Un piatto pove-ro ma estremamente saporito.

Duca de la Pearà (quart. Santa Lucia)Celebra il piatto tipico di Verona per ec-cellenza, la pearà, la salsa di pane, pepe e midollo di bue che accompagna i bol-liti e i pranzi di Natale dei veronesi doc.

Der Karneval von Verona ist einfacher als den Kar-neval von Venedig, der prächtiger ist. Papa del Gnoco ist der König der Karnevalstradition von Verona. Er geht durch die Stadt und schwenkt als “Zepter” einen riesigen, auf einer großen Gabel aufgespießten “Gnocco”. Um ein „Papa del gnocco“ zu wählen braucht man viel Zeit, von November bis Anfang Februar. Eine andere Symbolfigur des Vero-neser Karnevals ist der “Conte Polenton”, der mit sich einen Kochkessel („ramina“) voll von Polenta bringt. Polenta ist ein Symbol im Bauernleben. Am Freitag (venerdì gnocolar) gibt es aber viele andere Symbolfiguren des Veroneser Karnevals:Duca della Pignata (im Stadtviertel Santo Stefano) ist immer mit Dio dell’Oro bei Umzug. Er wird am letzten Montag des Karneval, vor Fastenzeit gefeiert. Madonna Verona (Zentrum): stellt die Statue von Piazza Erbe dar. La Parona de Parona (im Stadtviertel Parona) – sie ist am Aschermittwoch gefeiert, wann in diesem Stadtviertel Heringsfest findet statt. Mit dem Hering in Öl ist auch Polenta dazu serviert. Duca de la Pearà (im Stadtviertel Santa Lucia) – Pe-arà ist die veronesische Spezialität, eine Brotsauce, Pfeffer und Knochenmark vom Ochsen. Gekochtes Rindfleisch und Weihnachtsspezialitäten von Vero-na sind immer mit Pearà aufgetragen. I SAPORI DEL CARNEVALENon sono molti i piatti tipici del carneva-le veronese, ma uno senza dubbio non può mancare sulle tavole dei veronesi al Venerdì Gnocolar: gli gnocchi, come suggerisce il nome stesso. Gli gnocchi in questione sono preparati con pata-te, farina e acqua. Semplici in cucina, ma difficili da dimenticare una volta nel piatto. È immagine indelebile negli occhi di tutti i veronesi, la fila di gnoc-chi crudi pronti per essere cotti, ordi-natamente adagiata su di una tovaglia bianca e rossa sul tavolo da cucina della nonna. Eh già, perchè sono soprattutto le nonne a conoscere ogni segreto del-la preparazione di questo piatto. Altro piatto tipico è la Renga ovvero l'aringa sottolio servita assieme alla polenta ab-brustolita. Questo è il piatto tipico del mercoledì delle ceneri (primo giorno di Quaresima). Oggi rappresenta uno sfi-zio tra i piatti poveri, ma per molti anni ha rappresentato un sogno per le fami-glie contadine. Si pensi che molte fami-glie delle valli rurali, erano solite tenere un'aringa appesa sul tavolo da pranzo, e anziché mangiarla vi poggiavano le fette di polenta abbrustolita in modo che queste ne prendessero il sapore.

There are not many typical dishes for the Verona Carnival, but here is one which certainly cannot miss from the tables on Venerdì Gnocolar: the gnoc-chi (dumplings), as the name itself suggests. They are made from potatoes, flour, eggs and water. Ano-ther typical dish is the Renga, that is the herring in oil served along with grilled polenta. Although no-wadays it is the symbol of poverty, for many years it has been considered a delicacy by farmers.

Es gibt nicht so viele typische Gerichte für den Kar-neval in Verona, aber man muss unbedingt am Frei-tag Gnocchi essen, wie auch der Name des Tages (Venerdì Gnocolar) erinnert. Die Gnocchi werden mit Kartoffeln, Mehl, Eiern und Wasser vorbereitet. Das ist ein einfaches Rezept, das man aber nicht sehr einfach vergessen kann. Ein anderes typi-sches Gericht ist Renga, bzw. Hering in Öl, der mit Polenta serviert ist. Dieses Gericht ist typisch von Aschermittwoch (erste Tag in der Fastenzeit). Heute erinnert dieses Gericht an die Armut aber in der Ver-gangenheit war es ein Luxus für die Bauernfamilien.

Другое традиционное блюдо – Рэнга (Renga) – это селедка в масле, которая подаётся вместе с обжаренной полентой. Сегодня - это кухня бедняков, но на протяжении многих лет эти блюда являлись роскошной пищей для многих крестьянских семей.

CARNEVALE VERONESE



Ingredienti:- 1kg di patate a pasta gialla- 1 uovo- 250gr di farina- salsa di pomodoro e formaggio Parmi-giano

Preparazione:Lessate le patate con la buccia, pelatele ancora calde e passatele con lo schiac-ciapatate. Mettete le patate su un pia-no di lavoro ben infarinato, aggiungete un pizzico di sale, farina e impastate il tutto fino ad ottenere un composto compatto e soffice. Quando sarà freddo aggiungete un uovo e continuate ad impastare fino ad ottenere un panetto morbido senza grumi e compatto. Divi-dete l'impasto in listarelle che dovrete tagliare in cilindretti da 2/3 centime-tri. Quando saranno pronti, passateli su una grattugia o su una forchetta, in modo da dare loro la forma giusta per assorbire il sugo. Cuoceteli poi in acqua bollente tenendo la fiamma al massi-mo. Quando lo gnocco emerge, lascia-telo per venti/trenta secondi e quindi scolatelo. Impiattate gli gnocchi bollen-ti con abbondante sugo di pomodoro e una spruzzatina di formaggio grana.

GLI GNOCCHI

- 1 kg of yellow potatoes

- 1 egg

- 250 gr. flour

- tomato sauce and parmesan cheese

Boil the potatoes in their skin, peel them while hot and mash with a potato masher. Place the pota-toes on a well-flowered worktop, add a pinch of salt, flour and knead until the mixture is compact and soft. When it is cold add an egg and continue to knead until you get a soft, compact dough wi-thout lumps. Divide the dough into strips that you will have to cut into small cylinders of 2/3 cm. When they are ready pass them on a grater or on a fork in order to give them the right shape to absorb the sauce. Cook them in boiling water on a high flame. When you see the dumplings floating on the surface of the boiling water, leave them for twenty or thirty seconds and then drain them. Serve the dumplings hot with plenty of tomato sauce and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese.

- 1 kg Kartoffeln

- 1 Ei

- 250g Mehl

- Tomatensauce und Parmesan

Kochen Sie die Kartoffeln mit Schale (Pellkartoffeln), sofort möglichst heiß die Schale abziehen und noch warm durch eine Kartoffelpresse drücken. Bestreuen Sie die Arbeitsfläche mit etwas Mehl und vermengen Sie mit einer Prise Salz und Mehl zu einem weichen, aber formbaren Teig verkneten. Wann der Teig nicht mehr warm ist, geben Sie Ei dazu und zu einem glat-ten Teig vermengen. Jeweils ein Stück Teig zu einer dünnen Rolle formen und mit dem Messer Stücke von etwa 3 cm abschneiden. Die Stücke eventuell mit den Zinken einer Gabel etwas rollen. Die Fur-chen sollen später die Sauce gut absorbieren. Einen Topf mit Salzwasser zum Kochen bringen. Gnocchi in kochendes Salzwasser geben und so lange ko-chen, bis sie aufsteigen. Abschöpfen und abtropfen lassen. Schließlich die Sauce zugeben und mit rei-chlich geriebenem Parmesan bestreuen.

Когда клецки будут готовы, потрите их теркой или вилкой, чтобы придать им нужную форму и чтобы они лучше впитали в себя соус. Кипятите их в кипящей воде на максимальном огне. Когда ньокки вскипят, оставьте их на огне 20/30 секунд, а потом сливайте воду. Полейте ньокки томатным соусом и посыпьте пармезаном.

LA SFILATA DEI CARRI ALLEGORICI Il Venerdì Gnocolar va in scena a Verona la bellissima sfilata dei carri allegorici. Tutto è permesso durante questa gior-nata: “a carnevale ogni scherzo vale” recita infatti un detto locale. Oltre a tutte le maschere della tradizione ve-ronese, alla sfilata partecipano anche le bande musicali, clown e i carri allestiti per sbeffeggiare politici, sportivi o i ve-ronesi stessi. Il percorso del Carnevale è sempre quello, e ve lo illustriamo in questa mappa affinché possiate seguir-lo al meglio. La carovana partirà, come di consueto dal Corso Porta Nuo-va, per poi passare in Piazza Bra, Via Roma, Castelvecchio, Regaste San Zeno, Piazza Corrubio e terminare in grande festa in Piazza San Zeno, luogo simbolo del Carnevale.

Everything is permitted during this day: “during the carnival everything goes” a local saying says. Am Freitag (Venerdì Gnocolar) findet in Verona der wunderschöne Faschingsumzug mit Motivwagen statt. An diesem Tag ist alles erlaubt: “A carnevale ogni scherzo vale” – “An Karneval ist jeder Scherz erlaubt”, heisst ein dortiges Sprichwort. Nicht nur Masken sondern auch Musikgruppen, Clown und Motivwagen, die die Kommunalpolitik, Sportler oder veronesische Personen aufs Korn traditionell nehmen. Die Zugstrecke ist immer die gleiche und sie ist hier gezeichnet.

В пятницу под названием «Венерди Ньокколар» (Venerdì Gnocolar) на улицах города проходит карнавальный парад. Всё позволяется в этот день. «В карнавал любая шутка дозволена», - говорится в народе. Помимо всех традиционных костюмов, в карнавальном параде будут участвовать также и местные духовые оркестры, клоуны, а также шутники «потешных колесниц», которым дозволено шутить как над политиками, спортсменами, так и над самими веронцами. LE CHIESE DI VERONA La tradizione religiosa di Verona è mol-to forte, affonda le sue radici nell'epoca romana che ha plasmato la città e si è poi sviluppata attraverso i secoli. Ogni quartiere, ogni rione, ogni piccolo bor-go ha la sua chiesa. Alcune di queste sono nascoste fra le case, altre invece hanno mantenuto ampie piazze e gran-di spazi attorno a loro, guadagnando-si maggiore fama rispetto ad altre. Sabato 17:00 / Domenica 8:30, 10:00, 11:30, 17:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Si trova in una traversa di via Mazzini, ed ha origini molto antiche. Il terreno su cui sorge venne donato da Cangrande I della Scala nel 1324 ai Servi di Santa Ma-ria affinché essi potessero costruirvi una chiesa e un oratorio. L'edificio fu consa-crato nel 1329 ma la costruzione terminò effettivamente nel corso del XVII secolo. Alcune parti, come una serie di cappelli-ne costruite non prima del 1600 vennero distrutte dai bombardamenti del 1945, e oggi ne rimangono solo pochi resti. Dopo la guerra la chiesa venne ricostru-ita e inaugurata nuovamente nel 1948. Il campanile ospita cinque campane ac-cordate, e dal 1895 esiste una squadra locale che le suona secondo la tecnica del concerto “alla veronese”. Oggi, all'in-terno, è ancora visibile il ciclo pittorico che racconta la vita di San Girolamo, la cui influenza artistica richiama le linee e i colori del Pisanello.

Vista dalla facciata frontale sembra una piccola chiesa, ma il suo sviluppo in realtà è ben più ampio. La chiesa che vediamo oggi fu iniziata nel 1290 ma non fu mai conclusa, e inoltre è intitolata a San Pietro, ma i veronesi l'hanno sempre identificata con questo nome. La facciata è divisa in tre sezioni, cui corrispondono le tre navate interne, e assomiglia volutamente alla Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo di Venezia. Confina con il Conservatorio Musicale di Verona, e in alto, proprio su un arco che unisce i due edifici, è ben visibile il sepolcro che contiene i resti di Gu-glielmo da Castelbarco, un tipo di arca monumentale che poco tempo dopo avrebbe ispirato anche gli Scaligeri per la realizzazione delle “Arche Scaligere”, che si trovano poco distanti da qui.

Sabato 18:00 / Domenica 9:30, 10:30, 11:30, 18:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Contrariamente a molte altre, questa non è una chiesa parrocchiale e forse anche per questo le informazioni in proposito sono abbastanza scarse. La sua denominazione corretta è quella di Chiesa di San Tommaso Apostolo, ma per tutti i veronesi è da sempre San To-mio. Difficile stabilirne le origini, anche se al suo interno fu ritrovato un pezzo di un arco romano del II secolo, molto pro-babilmente della stessa epoca del por-ticato di Piazza Erbe. Va ricordato che questa chiesa rimase chiusa per molti anni, in epoca napoleonica, e addirit-tura trasformata in teatro. Solamente nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento ven-ne restituita al culto e assunse l'aspetto attuale. Internamente è molto geome-trica, senza affreschi ma con qualche piccolo quadro appeso alle pareti. La parte artisticamente più interessante è il Tabernacolo, che attira immediata-mente l'attenzione una volta entrati.

C. Chiesa di Santa Maria AnticaVia Arche Scaligere, 3Orari S. Messe. Sabato 16:00, 18:00/ Do-menica 8:00, 10:00, 16:00, 18:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Se le tombe degli Scaligeri, proprio fuo-ri dalla chiesa, sono diventate simbolo di Verona, questa piccola chiesetta è ri-masta pressoché sconosciuta, anche ai turisti. Piccola, in stile romanico, risale al 1185 ma è stata eretta laddove in epo-ca precedente era già presente un'altra chiesa, distrutta dal terremoto del 1117. Di quella vecchia struttura rimane solo una porzione del pavimento a mosaico. Tra il 1630 e il 1800 venne trasformata in stile barocco, ma l'ultimo restauro l'ha riportata all'aspetto iniziale. La fac-ciata è a fasce, mentre il campanile è in tufo e conserva tre campane.Il tetto della chiesa, come nella Basilica di San Zeno, è sorretto da un tetto ad archi traversi. Sotto la chiesa sono state rinvenute circa cinquanta sepolture ri-salenti all'anno 1000, che hanno dimo-

in epoca paleocristiana, ma le tracce architettoniche di quel periodo sono andate perse nel 1100, quando venne ampliata e si eresse la facciata, che le diede l'aspetto con cui la conosciamo oggi, ovvero con le linee orizzontali che ne contraddistinguono l'immagine. Fu una delle poche chiese a non subire danni durante il terremoto del 1117. Nel 1998 vennero eseguiti dei lavori di restauro che fecero emergere diverse sepolture e resti dell’XI secolo. A segui-to delle analisi sui reperti si è stabilito che fu proprio in questa zona che si rac-colsero i primi insediamenti di Verona. All'interno, merita di esser visitata la Cappella Varalli, uno dei rari esempi di architettura barocca a Verona, costruita nel XVII secolo, ideata per ospitare i re-sti di cinque antichi vescovi della città.

F. Chiesa di San Tomaso CantaurienseVicolo Scaletta S. StefanoOrari S. Messe. Sabato 18:00 / Domenica 11:00, 18:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Sorge subito oltre Ponte Nuovo, non di-stante da via Cappello, e per i tutti i ve-ronesi è la chiesa di San Tomaso Becket. Non è molto antica, dato che fu costru-ita nel 1400, ma sorge laddove esistet-tero altre due chiese, una costruita nel 1316 e una nel 1351. La mano che ha disegnato la versione attuale è quella del grande Michele Sammicheli, anche se rispetto al progetto del maestro, la facciata è rimasta nuda e incompiuta. A farne immagine è il grande rosone nonché il campanile di oltre 60metri realizzato nel tardo Quattrocento. Tipi-

co di questa chiesa è l'organo a canne dell'inizio del XVIII secolo suonato da Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart nel corso di uno dei suoi viaggi in Italia. Oltre a quest'organo, la chiesa conserva opere di Farinati eTorbido oltre che i mausolei neoclassici sempre del Sammicheli.

G. Chiesa di Santa Maria in OrganoVia Santa Maria in OrganoOrari S. Messe. Sabato 17:00 / Domenica 10:00, 17:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Sorge ai piedi del bellissimo quartiere di San Giovanni in Valle, proprio davanti a Piazza Isolo. Pur avendo al suo interno uno degli organi più antichi della pro-vincia, il suo nome non deriva da que-sto, ma da una particolare opera idrau-lica di epoca romana. Questa era stata costruita su una torre che si sviluppava dove ora sorge il campanile. Alcune statue, mediante la forza dell'Adige, si muovevano e in base all'ombra pro-iettata segnavano il tempo. Il risucchio dell'acqua passava poi all'interno di al-cune canne che producevano delle me-lodie. Quell'antico edificio fu, purtrop-po, distrutto dai longobardi, e la chiesa attuale venne costruita solo a partire dalla seconda metà del 1500.

La chiesa è altrettanto antica dato che le origini risalirebbero addirittura al 400 d.C. Nel-la prima metà dell'anno 1000, i frati be-nedettini costruirono due chiese, una superiore per le celebrazioni eucaristi-che e una inferiore per custodire le re-liquie di sant'Annone come si trattasse di una cripta. Furono i francescani, negli ultimi anni del Duecento, a far costruire la chiesa come la vediamo oggi, men-tre solo nel 1946 la chiesa inferiore è stata aperta al culto dei fedeli. L'interno è ricco e colorato, composto da pietre e da affreschi e con il pulpito a fare da protagonista. Gli altari sono più d'uno, anche lungo le navate, mentre la chiesa inferiore è molto intima, raccolta, con le colonne a dividerne gli spazi e le mor-bide linee del soffitto. Caratteristico an-che il campanile, che identifica la chiesa visibile anche dall'altra parte del fiume, costruito tra il XII e il XIII secolo.

I. Chiesa di San Giovanni in ForoCorso Porta Borsari, 27Orari S. Messe. Sabato 20:00 / Domenica 20:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Si tratta di una delle vere perle di Vero-na, nascosta tra le case e le boutique di lusso di Corso Porta Borsari. La Chiesa di San Giovanni in Foro, che ebbe anche

il titolo di basilica, risale al 1100, e con-finava direttamente con piazza Erbe. Gravemente danneggiata dall'incendio del 1172, poco dopo la sua costruzio-ne, presenta un superbo tetto in legno con degli enormi volti che contengo-no gli altari. Le mura sono di mattoni, mentre all'esterno il campanile, nella parte superiore più recente, è in cotto. Il piccolo portale della chiesa, voluto dal rettore della chiesa Benedetto Rizzoni, è composto nella parte alta anche di alcune statue raffiguranti San Giovanni Evangelista, San Pietro e San Giovanni Battista. Si tratta di una vera e propria gemma della città, assolutamente da visitare. Curiosità: all'interno è custodi-to anche un pendolo di Foucault.

L. Chiesa di Sant'EufemiaPiazzetta Sant'Eufemia, 1Orari S. Messe. Sabato 19:00 / Domenica 8:00, 10:00, 11:30, 19:00Accessibile durante il giorno.Ingresso libero.Completata nel XV secolo, questa chie-sa sorge oggi nascosta tra le case poco distante da Ponte della Vittoria e Porta Borsari. La facciata è in cotto, con due enormi bifore chiuse e due rosoni, uno grande centrale e uno più piccolo poco sopra. La statua centrale, sopra il porto-ne, rappresenta proprio Sant'Eufemia, e sulla facciata sono presenti anche due tombe cinquecentesche. Lo stile attinge dal gotico al barocco, e interna-mente si presenta con una sola navata e un bellissimo soffitto a volta a botte. Vi sono quattordici altari laterali, ma è il maggiore quello che colpisce di più il visitatore. È diviso dal resto della chiesa da un grande volto, mentre sulle pareti sono dipinte opere anche dello stesso Cignaroli, a cui è intitolata l'Accademia d'Arte della città.

dentro che fuori. La facciata è in cotto a vista, ma il vero pregio della chiesa è il chiostro interno e le varie stanze affrescate che vi si affacciano, come negli eremi toscani e umbri. Il territo-rio che sorge intorno alla chiesa, ha sentito molto l'influsso religioso, tant'è che in tutta la città di Verona è la zona con la maggiore diffusione di conventi e scuole private cattoliche. Artistica-mente, sono molto belle le sei cappelle che si aprono sulla navata maggiore, in modo particolare quella progettata dal Sanmicheli e realizzata in oltre trent'an-ni di lavoro. Al suo interno la pala d'alta-re di Bernardino India del 1579.

Realizzato dal Brioloto è decorato con sette statue che raffigurano alcuni passaggi della vita dell'uomo, tutte le-gate alla fortuna. Il messaggio trasmes-so è che solo gli ignoranti credono nella fortuna, e finiscono schiacciati e derisi dagli altri, come raffigurato da queste statue. Sono di grande pregio le 24 formelle bronzee che compongono il portale principale su cui sono raffigurati alcuni santi, ma vi compaiono anche Matil-de di Canossa e il marito (benefattori per la costruzione della basilica) e lo stesso auto-re. Ancora oggi gli studiosi si dividono nel tentativo di dare una data di fabbricazione a queste formelle senza trovare una rispo-sta: è probabile infatti che non siano tutte della stessa epoca. L'interno è bellissimo e gioca sul dualismo semplice di colori, il tutto sotto un tetto in legno con la raffi-gurazione delle stelle. Lo stile romanico è semplice, ma colpisce. Completa questa opera la pala d'altare di Andrea Mantegna, il chiostro interno, la torre campanaria di 62 metri e la chiesetta di San Procolo, poco fuori dalla basilica, che conserva le spoglie del santo a cui è dedicata.

Nel corso dei secoli, anche la Cat-tedrale ha subito varie modifiche, come la sistemazione della facciata, l'apertura del rosone, le bifore laterali, il campani-le costruito al posto di quello romanico. Lo stesso, a causa dei bombardamenti della II Guerra Mondiale, ha perso (e non è mai stata ricostruita) la cuspide di coronamento. L'interno è sontuoso: le colonne in rosso Verona fanno da contrasto con il bianco del soffitto e il candido color pietra dell'abside realiz-zato dal Sanmicheli. La facciata esterna spicca per il protiro e per il bellissimo campanile. Quest'ultimo è tripartito: la parte bassa è romanica, quella mediana venne realizzata da Sanmicheli, mentre la parte superiore venne completata da Fagiuoli. Secondo la leggenda ve-ronese, il mancato completamento del campanile è dovuto alla volontà di non superare la Torre dei Lamberti.

Auf dieser Orgel hat Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gespielt, während er seinen Urlaub in Italien verbracht hat.

und nach der Tradition wurde sie am Ort des Marty-riums (im Jahre 304 n. Chr.) der Heiligen Fermo und Rustico errichtet. Sie ist sehr alt und datiert in ihren Ursprüngen aus dem 5. Jahrhundert. Im ersten Hal-bjahr 1000 haben die Benediktinermönche zwei Kirche erbaut: eine für die Heilige Messen und eine Unterkirche. Die heutige Kirche wurde von den Fran-ziskanern am Ende des 13. Jahrhunderts vollendet und nur im Jahr 1946 wurde die Unterkirche für Gläubige geöffnet.

Sie wurde erst vor kurzem gebaut, wenn sie durch den Brand von 1172 stark beschädigt wurde. Die Kirche bestand aus einem Holzdach mit riesigen Gewöl-ben, die Altare enthalten. Eine Kuriosität: in der Kir-che gibt es auch ein foucaultsches Pendel.

Die zentrale Statue, über der Eingangstür der Kirche, stellt Santa Eufemia dar und neben der Fassade lie-gen zwei Gräber aus dem sechzehnten Jahrhundert.

Man kann es ja schon ahnen, wenn man nur die riesige Fassade mit der herrlichen Rosette (“Ruota della fortuna” genannt) anschaut. Sie ist mit 6 Steinfiguren geschmückt, die die einige Wechselfälle des menschlichen Lebens darstellt. Sie haben alle etwas mit Glück zu tun und sie übermit-teln, dass nur die Unwissenden an Glück glauben. Von großem Wert und sehr berühmt sind die 24 Bronzetafeln des Hauptportales, die einige Heiligen und den Künstler selber darstellen. Sehr schön ist auch das Altarbild von Andrea Mantegna und die kleine Kirche von San Procolo (nur ein paar Schritte entfernt), die die Überreste des Heiligen bewahrt.

Фасад церкви, облицованный кирпичом, имеет два высоких проёма, разделённых колонами и два круглых резных окна: одно большое- центральное и одно поменьше - над большим. Над порталом находится статуя святой Евфимии, а с обоих сторон фасада - гробницы XVI века.

Его воздвигли на месте, где в 300-ом году после Р.Х. епископ Зенон решил построить первый христианский собор города. Строительство храма было начато в XII веке и освящение состоялось в 1187-ом году Урбаном III. Согласно одной из веронских версий, колокольня храма осталась незавершенной, якобы не превысить башню Торре деи Ламберти (Torre dei Lamberti).

N. Церковь Сан-Бернардино (Chiesa di San Bernardino)Страдоне Антонио Проволо, 28 (Stradone Antonio Provolo, 28)Расписание служб и литургий: Суббота 18:30/ Воскресенье 8:30, 10:00, 11:30, 18:30Вход доступен днем.Вход свободный.Это одна из первых церквей в Вероне эпохи Возрождения, ныне принадлежащая францисканским монахам. Первоначальное здание церкви – средневековое, его строение и концепция выполнены по канонам романа Умберто Эко «Имя Розы». Церковь была построена именно по желанию брата Бернардино и, как все францисканские здания, очень проста внутри и снаружи.

Базилика Сан-Дзено (Basilica di San Zeno)Пьяцца Сан-Дзено, 2 (Piazza San Zeno, 2)Расписание служб и литургий: Суббота 18:30/ Воскресенье 8:00, 9:30, 11:00Зимние часы работы: в будни дни 10:00-13:00/ 13:30-16:00; по выходным 13:00-17:00 Вход €2,50 для взрослых, €2,00 для льготных категорийЭто один из шедевров романского стиля в Италии. На фасаде базилики доминирует огромное круглое резное окно, называемое «Колесо Удачи» (Ruota della Fortuna). Собор украшен семью статуями, которые изображают моменты из жизни человека, связанные с фортуной. Портал базилики облицован 24-мя знаменитыми и ценными бронзовыми плитками. Базилика Сан-Дзено также знаменита триптихом Андрэа Мантеньа и церковью Сан-Проколо.
