Q. What is Confirm service?

A. Confirm service allows you to identify and obtain mailstream visibility for both outgoing mail and incoming reply mail pieces. It provides near real-time mail processing information about your letters and flats (First-Class Mail,® Standard Mail,® and Periodicals).

Q. What are the two types of services available?

A. Destination Confirm – gives you information on when your mail pieces are about to reach their destinations. Origin Confirm – provides information on when reply pieces are on the way back.

Q. How does it work?

A. Each piece of mail is identified with a Confirm barcode, such as a PLANET Code® or the Intelligent Mail ® barcode (a feature called OneCode Confirm™). As the mail pieces are processed, electronic records are generated and sent to you. Scan data can also be retrieved online.

Q. How does OneCode Confirm enhance the service?

A. Using just one barcode instead of two, OneCode Confirm allows you to capture more customer data, as well as support multiple applications, while freeing up more space on your mail piece. To learn more, go to ribbs.usps.gov/OneCodeSOLUTION.

Q. How do I receive data?

A. Data can be sent to your business via FTP on a preset download schedule of your choosing. Data can also be accessed directly, multiple times a day, via the Confirm Web site at mailtracking.usps.com.

Q. How do I apply for Confirm service?

A. To use Confirm service, you must first become a Confirm subscriber. This process requires you to complete an application form, pay a subscription fee, and verify your firm’s and/or printing vendor’s ability to generate accurate and scan-ready barcodes prior to mailing.
