This year our kura will be taking part in the annual Daffodil Day fundraiser. Daffodil Day is the Cancer Society's annual flagship event and one of the most important fundraising and awareness campaigns in the country. As well as providing an opportunity to raise awareness of cancer in New Zealand, Daffodil Day is a major funding source for the Cancer Society. This year we are celebrating the 25th nationwide Daffodil Day and we want to make it our most successful appeal yet. We are proud to be regarded as one of the country's most trusted charities and this year's Daffodil Day will celebrate the work the Cancer Society has done over many years. The daffodil is one of the first flowers of spring, whose bright yellow blooms remind us of the joys the new season will bring. It represents the hope there is for the 1 in 3 New Zealanders affected by cancer.
The donations we receive go towards vital scientific research into the causes and treatment of all types of cancer, as well as providing a wide range of support ser-vices, information, health promotion and education programmes to reduce cancer risk, awareness campaigns and programmes for people affected by cancer.
You can support by sending your tamariki to school on Friday the 28th of August dressed in yellow and with
a gold coin as part of your contribution to our Daffodil Day fundraiser.

Computer Science Scholarship The Computer Science Department at the University of Waikato has run its annual scholarship examination since 1995. Each year, up to 10 scholarships have been given to the best performing students. A scholarship pays $5000 towards fees for the first year of study towards a computing qualification at Waikato University, and can be held concurrently with other scholarships or deferred for use in the second year of study. It also includes an offer of di-rect entry into level two computing papers. Students who do well in the exam, but do not reach the schol-arship level, may still qualify for direct entry to ad-vanced courses.

E waia haere ana ngā kaihaka ki ngā kupu, ngā ā-ringa, me ngā nekehanga. Kei runga noa atu koutou tamariki mā. We are training everyday, whether it be during lunch time, or an allocated period of the day. Performers need to be present. Ngā Māhuri are progressing every day, if your child is absent for whatever reason, they will miss tutorials, and will also miss learning words, actions, and/ or move-ments. Which in-turn will leave them having to catch up, and if they fall too far behind, they will have
to catch up in their own time, or face the likely hood of being not standing.
He maha ngā mahi kei mua te aroaro mā tātou, awhi mai, awhi atu! Papa Pene N
