Infrared thermography and its applications in civil engineering
Prepared ByMayank GautamRam Bhardwaj
Introduction• Thermography literally means ‘writing with heat’
• Use infrared cameras for thermography.
• Convert thermal radiations into thermal images.
• Investigate structural conditions.
• Acquisition and analysis of data from non-contact thermal imaging devices.
Infrared camera
• Senses the exitant thermal energy.
• Converts into temperature and displays thermal images.
• Thermal images can be obtained in total darkness.
Image processing• Images have to be focussed and composed.• Brightness and contrast can be auto
adjusted.• Set the temperature range for useful results.• Various thermal patterns can be obtained.
Applications in civil engg.Moisture penetration
• Thermal images indicates region of temperatures by various colours or shades.
