Detonation Flame Arrester

These screen sections allow for much larger cells than that of competitive crimped ribbon arresters, allowing maximum flow with maximum protection. They provide protection against flame propagation in piping systems that are manifolded or have long run-up distances. Paradox’s detonation flame arrester element technology dampens the high velocities and pressures associated with deflagrations and detonations while quenching the flame front and providing larger flame channels which requires less frequent maintenance due to clogging and greater ease in cleaning when service is required. This translates to less down time. Our element offers maximum flow to pressure drop characteristics enhancing the value of our product in any system. They are typically used for extended pipe length or multiple pipe bend configurations to stop high pressures and flame velocities associated with detonations and overdriven detonations. In addition, it stops confined and unconfined, low and high pressure deflagrations. All Paradox units are bi-directional and are proven to stop an ignited flammable vapor mixture approaching form either direction that can be traveling at subsonic or supersonic velocities. Designed with flanged connections, this Arrestor provides the option of the removal of the flame cell (element) for easy cleaning and replacement without disconnection of the pipe connection flanges. Standard housing construction is carbon steel and stainless steel. The element is available in 304 S.S and 316 S.S. Special material and protective coatings are available on request.

The Paradox Detonation Flame Arrestor ,represents the best technology for value in flame ar-restor protection. They prevent flame propagation by absorbing heat and dissipating supersonic pressure waves, using multiple spiral wound crimped ribbon flame cells staged with turbulent creating screen sections.

Our deflagration arresters are designed with flanged connections, this Arrestor provides the option of the removal of the flame cell (element) for easy cleaning and replacement without disconnection of the pipe connection flanges. Standard housing construction is carbon steel and stainless steel. The element is available in 304 S.S and 316 S.S. The larger models come with large access ports for inspection and easy cleaning.

The Paradox Deflagration Flame Arrestor ,is designed to stop the propagation of a degflagration be-yond the capabilities of a conven-tional end of line flame arrester. They are ideal for short flare stacks (<60ft.) with a ninety de-gree elbow at the bottom. The de-flagration arrester is bi-directional and will stop both low and high pressure deflagrations.

Available in sizes 2” to 12” All sizes have been thor-

oughly tested with 60 feet of run up and a 90 degree bend.

In-Line/End Of Line Flame Arrester SERIES-A

Flame Arresters are only used for pipe lengths of up to 10 feet with no

bends pipe bend. In addition, it stops confined and unconfined, low pressure deflagrations. All Paradox units are bi-directional and are proven to stop an ignited flammable vapor mixture approaching form either direction traveling at subsonic velocities.

Designed with flanged or pipe threaded connections, and is available with a vent hood for use on storage tanks or with out so that it can be mounted between flanges. All of our arrester come with strong lifting points designed to lift the entire unit and then some. The arrestor provides the option of the removal of the flame cell (element) for easy cleaning and replacement without disconnection of the pipe connection flanges. Standard housing construction is carbon steel and stainless steel. The element is available in 304 S.S and 316 S.S.Special material and protective coatings are available on request, with the exception of Aluminum.

The Paradox In-Line Flame Arrestor, pre-vents flame propagation by acting as a heat sink, cooling the flame front to cause it to be extin-guished. This heat sink is made from spiral wound crimped ribbon that allows gas to flow with a minimum pres-sure drop.

Explosion Proof Box Flame Arrester (EPB-FA)

Explosion Proof Box (EPB) Flame Arrestor

Since electronics or electrical components may need to be mounted in hazardous environments that may contain a combustible gas/air/oxygen mixture, it is imperative to ensure that an ignition source from the electrical components do not ignite the mixture. Hence the components are mounted inside “explosion proof” boxes. These boxes may contain equipment that analyze potential explosive gases, so it is necessary to use flame arresters as a barrier between the electrical components of the analyzer and the gases being monitored. Our unique EPB flame arrester has been test to successfully stop the propagation of mixture of hydrogen/oxygen and air or just hydrogen and oxygen, while offering a maximum flow to pressure drop characteristics enhancing the value of our product in any system.

Our EPB arresters are designed with NPT connections. Standard housing construction is stainless steel and is available in 316, 304, and hasteloy. The element is available in 304 and 316 SS as well as hasteloy and other austenitic metals.

The Paradox EPB Flame Arrestor ,is designed to stop the propagation of a

deflagration into the environment sur-rounding NEMA 7 electrical enclosures.

Available in sizes 1/2” , 3/4 and 1”.

All sizes have been thoroughly tested

“Failsafe feature is inherent in each element. In the case that a flame such as hydrogen stabilizes on the face of the flame arrester, the heat will change the structure of the element causing it to reduce and eventfully stop the flow of gases preventing any ex-posure to the surrounding environment. The FA will remained closed permanently until it is replaced.
