Public Speak Team Update: On Monday, 14th of December, the King Edward VII Academy Public Speaking Team attended the Rotary Club Christmas Dinner. We were invited to perform our winning speech on the importance of Remembrance Day. The Rotarians were delighted with the student’s speech and their interesting and humorous answers to the audience questions. The boy’s behaviour was outstanding and they were a real credit to the school throughout the evening. The Rotary club were clearly impressed by the team’s performance and they congratulated them on their commitment and enthusiasm. They have asked us to become more involved in promoting the competition next year.
Message from Safer School Police Officer: Following a recent incident we would advise all parents/carers to remind their children to be careful when out and about with expensive electronic devices/mobile phones. At this time of year children may well receive new phones, iPods or other expensive electronic items and are likely to have these with them when out and about, be it socially or to or from their way to school. Some of these journeys may be in darkness or reduced lighting. Back to KLA and Please remind them to keep these devices secure in a pocket or bag, for example, rather than having them out on display. For some opportunists out there the temptation to snatch it off a young person or demand it be handed over may be too great to resist.

LANCASTER SCHOOL NEWS:
Vivo total for this week – Top 10 students in Lancaster/School
Dear Parents/Guardians/Students,
I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you that when we return to school in January, I will no longer be
the Pastoral Director for Lancaster/School. This role will now be filled by a non-teaching member of staff. I
will be staying within the school and will take up a new role called Director of Students.
I would also like to inform you that Miss Green will no longer be in her role as Pastoral Assistant. I would
like to thank her for her unstinting support over the past two and a half years. If ever there was a member
of staff who always put the student first, it was Miss Green. She has made a difference to numerous
students’ lives at KESA. Thank you.
Lancaster/School holds a special place in my heart. To be associated with this house has been a
tremendous honour and a privilege. I have been associated with Lancaster/School; first as a form tutor,
then as a Head of Enrichment before becoming a Pastoral Director. I have been inspired by many of the
fantastic students, staff and parents that I have been lucky enough to work with.
Thank you to all those who have supported and worked with us. I wish the students all the very best in
their future studies and hope that they realise their potential.
Merry Christmas and I hope that you all have a happy and peaceful 2016

Y7-8 Basketball had a fun and successful tournament at KLA last week. We entered 3 teams in a CWA Trust fun competition against KLA and DMHS. James Bamfield led and organised the event. All 3 KESA teams were a credit to the school and were very successful too. Thanks for a great event and thanks to all 3 teams, for giving 100%! Year 11 Rugby boys are now through to the semi final of the County Cup after a close 27-22 win over Thetford Academy. We face Central Norwich School in the New Year.
