VIRTUE FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER IS:
CHARITY Scripture Quotes:
“The measure you give will be the measure you get .” Matthew 7:2
“It is more blessed to give than to receive.” Acts 20:35
"To love our neighbour in charity is to love God in the human person." St. Francis de Sales
The Meaning of Advent:
We are a people of Hope to whom God has made a solemn promise. During Advent, we read in the Bible about God’s promise to send a great Light in the darkness, to give sight to the blind, to fill us with hope, peace, joy, and love. We believe that God’s promise was fulfilled in the birth of his Son, Jesus, born of Mary in Bethlehem. We believe that Christ is a Light for the world.
Advent is a time of quiet, joyful preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth and also a time to remember that we wait for Christ to come again at the end of time. This is a time of refection and of new beginnings.
This month at St. Antoine Daniel School we will be demonstrating charity by thinking
of others and representing our thoughts through our actions.
Father Paul will be celebrating our Advent Mass on Wednesday December 5th at 10:30
a.m.in the school gym. Please join us.
On behalf of the St. Antoine Daniel staff, I would like to wish you and your families a joyful Christ-
mas and a peaceful New Year filled with health and happiness.
The last day of school for 2012 will be Friday December 21sth. Dismissal is at 3:30 p.m. Classes will
resume on Monday January 7, 2013 at 9:00.a.m.

Virtue Of The Month
PAGE 2 VOLUME 2
Food Allergy
At St. Antoine Daniel School, many students and staff members have nut allergies which can cause an anaphylac-
tic reaction. We respectfully ask that you refrain from sending any type of food to school that may contain nuts.
This includes peanut butter sandwiches, Nutella, snacks containing peanuts etc. Food containing nuts may trig-
ger a reaction that could be life threatening. As a Catholic community, we must work together to ensure the
safety of everyone. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
The Virtue for the month of November was Peacemaking. Congratulations to the following students who received a certificate:

We continue to encourage our students to stay healthy at home and at school. We encourage everyone to sneeze
and cough into their sleeves as well as to wash their hands frequently. Please keep your child home if they are ill.
Indoor Footwear/Appropriate Dress Code
All students are requested to have indoor footwear for the coming months. Dry shoes in the classroom will keep the
floors safe, feet safe and the floors puddle free. If the fire alarm rings, to allow a quick exit, children are not al-
lowed to stop to put on footwear, thus shoes are a must for indoors. Students will be outside for recess during the
winter months unless there is a warning of frostbite or it is too wet. They will be outside if it snows. Please dress
your child appropriately for outdoor play- hats, scarves, mitts, gloves, boots and a warm winter jacket. Fresh air is
necessary for children and we encourage outdoor play at recess. We encourage all parents to send an extras pair of
socks and pants in the event that these items get wet.
Inclement Weather
Inclement weather can produce bus cancellations as well as school closures. In the event of bad weather, please logon to
the following websites: Board’s Homepage at www.tcdsb.org, transportation information at http://www.schoolbus.to/c
home.asp, or weather at http://www.tcdsb.org/Weather.htm.

A reminder: ALL parents are to report to the of-
fice. Parents are not to go to their child’s class-
room as this will disrupt the classroom teaching
and the attention is taken from the students. If you
would like to talk to your child’s teacher, please make
arrangements for a mutually convenient time to meet.
Kindergarten pick up will always be outside unless the
weather is unfavorable. If the weather is wet, kinder-
garten pick up will be in the front hall.
VOLUME 4
If your child arrives after 9:00 a.m., your child must get
a late slip. Please do not accompany your child to their
class. If you have a young child, arrangements will be
made to ensure that they get to their classroom safely.
Please respect these rules as they will ensure the safety
of all students.
Trading Cards/Toys/Electronics/Cell Phones
Please do not allow your child to bring Bay Blades, Pokemon cards or any other
items that may be lost or broken. Cell phones must be powered off during school
hours. The school is not responsible if they are lost or broken.
A reminder that students are not allowed to have cell phones, cameras, iPods, or any electronic devices at school.
This rule is to ensure the safety of all of our students. The school is not responsible if these items are lost or broken.
Safety In Our Parking Lot
It is extremely important that
the children board the bus, in
the morning and after school,
in a quiet, orderly manner. To
ensure their safety, the young-
est children must be at the
front of the bus and the oldest
children at the back. Thank
you for your cooperation.
Safety has become a concern in our parking lot. It is extremely impor-
tant that all parents follow the flow of traffic by following the arrows on
the pavement. Also, many parents are parking in the bus loading zone.
Please do not park in the bus loading zone. Our buses need access
to the loading area. Also, many children are running across the parking
lot to meet their parents/guardians who are waiting in their cars. This
is extremely dangerous because the children can not see oncoming traf-
fic. Please park your car and walk to the school to gather your child/
children. We do not want anyone to be injured and your coopera-
tion is greatly appreciated!

Staff and Student News
All around the world kids & even adults are getting bullied. how would you feel if you got bullied? What would you do if someone was getting bullied in front of you? What Blair pre-sented to us is a perfect example of what we need to do to stop bullying inside and outside of school.
EVERYBODY is a somebody! We are all the same inside! So do something about it! Tell a teacher, or tell an adult! So, everyone in st. Antoine Daniel stand up to bullies! You’re not alone! Show your true colors! Pray for all those people who get bullied!

Faith Day Reflection
Faith Cross Day was a very special and exciting day. First, we felt so excited that we got to meet a Bishop. He
seemed so faithful and close to God. I was surprised that he knew so much about God and saints; He spoke in God’s
language and was way so nice and humble. Next, we felt butterflies in our stomachs as we watched kids from St.
Paschal Baylon School walk into our yard carrying posters and the cross. Finally we felt so excited when we sang
“We Want To See Jesus Lifted High”. Faith Day inspired us to want pray to God and be good. Ms. Huebel’s Grade 3 class
Bullying stops here!!
Feathers against bullying project
On Wednesday November 21, the St. Antoine Daniel Safe School’s team attended a Bullying Awareness and Pre-
vention Symposium. The symposium was designed to raise awareness about the problem of bullying and to help all
TCDSB schools promote a positive school climate by participating in a “Feathers Against Bullying Project”.
The Feathers Against Bullying Project will be a celebration of the 60,000 TCDSB students and their families, educators
and community members who will show the world the great things that can be done when we work together to stand
up against bullying!
Sixty thousand paper feathers will be distributed to students across our school board. On each paper feather a per-
sonal pledge against bullying will be created. It is the opportunity to promote our gospel values and the message about
being an “upstander, not a bystander”.
Each feather will have a unique identification number. A digital picture of each completed feather will be taken and
then uploaded to a website. Students will be able to go to this web-site and view their feathers as well as feathers cre-
ated by others.
Over the next few weeks, each of the 60,000 feathers will be attached to a large wire framework in the shape of a
dove. When all the feathers have been attached, the Feathers Against Bullying Project will be submitted to the
Guiness World Records as the largest collaborative art installation in the world. The completed dove will be unveiled at
a media event in May 2013 at Nathan Philips Square. Following the unveiling, the dove will be displayed in different
locations across the city where the public will have an opportunity to view this remarkable achievement.

Take Your Kids to high school
On November 20, 2012, St. Antoine Daniel played hosts as the Intermediate Boys Volleyball team took on four worthy opponents
in the annual Volleyball Tournament. The team played against Blessed Margherita, St. Fidelis, St. Norbert, and Regina Mundi.
Our boys played very hard, and put on display for all to see their ever-growing volleyball skills. They represented our school
with great pride and excellent sportsmanship. Congratulations to all!! Thank you to the following team members: Jace, Rich-
ard M, Mar Hendrick, Stefano, Darrell, J.R., Dominic, Jake, Danreech, Arvin, Kriztian, Jeffery, and Christian. Thank you to
Ms. Meschino, Mr. Moore, and Mr. Nangini for coaching!
Intermediate Volleyball
Me To We Christmas initiatives
On November 7th, 2012, the grade 8 students attended "Take Your Kids to High School". The grade 8 girls went to St. Joseph's Mor-row Park with Mr. Herbert while the boys attended Brebeuf College with Mr. Oliveri. Both the boys and girls got to experience a sci-ence lab at the high school level. They made 'slime' by using water, glue and borax. The boys and girls continued to experience the 'high school life' throughout the entire day. The boys and girls both had a great time and most of us are excited to go from being "big fish in a small pond" to "small fish in a big pond".
Science Centre
On Thursday November 22, 2012, the grade 4 and 4/5 classes visited the Science Centre. What we did was we learned about
“Fun with Chemistry”. We explored the Science Centre. We saw many different exhibits including Space Exhibits, Forest Exhib-
its and more. We played many games to determine our level of physics. One of them was speed. After we explored the many dif-
ferent wonderful exhibits, we went to a studio to learn more about matter. We saw a special paper that disappears with fire. We
tested many experiments such as helium balloons, a very cold pot and learned about gases and solids The trip was a great
learning experience and I can’t wait to visit the Science Centre again.

Once again, the Me to We Committee invites all families to join us in our efforts to give what we can to help those in need,
through our Christmas Gift Campaign. Thanks to your generosity last year, we delivered over 500 gifts to disadvantaged men ,
women, teens and children living both in shelters( such as The Good Shepherd Centre, The Red Door and St. Michael’s Halfway
Homes) and on the streets of Toronto. We also sent several boxes of toys to Dr. Simone’s Mission to Africa.
During each week in December, we will be collecting the following gift items:
December 3-7: new hats, mittens, scarfs( all ages)
Dec. 10-14:new baby clothes, and new baby items( up to 1 year old)
Dec. 17-21:gently used small toys and gently used stuffed animals.
Students are asked to bring in one gift per week and put them into the gift bags under the Christmas tree in the front hall.
As part of our Christmas campaign, we will be having our annual Gingerbread House Raffle. Tickets will be sold every
Thursday during the month of December. Tickets will also be sold during the Christmas Concerts on December 18th and 19th.
The draw will take place on Thursday December 20/12.Tickets will cost $1.00 each or 3 for $2.00. All money collected will be
contributing to St. Antoine Daniel’s ongoing initiative to build a schoolhouse in Sierra Leone.
Thank you and may the light of Jesus shine forth from your heart and warm needy hearts this Christmas.
Sports recap This year St. Antoine Daniel hosted the Intermediate Boys and Girls volleyball tournaments. Both teams were very competitive.
The Intermediate Girl’s Volleyball team played very hard during their tournament. They showed great sportsmanship and team spirit.
