November 26, 2018 Parent-Teacher Conferences Thank-you parents for the prompt and efficient way in which you signed up for PTCs this year! We at WCS are blessed to partner with you in the education of your child(ren). Research shows that students learn more, have higher grades, and have better school attendance when parents are involved in their child's education. That's why attending parent-teacher conferences is so important: it's a great way for parents to become involved and stay involved throughout the school year. By attending conferences, you also send a positive message to your child that school is important. These conferences are intended to by two-way conversations. If you have questions or observations, the conference is a good time to share those with the teacher. Share what you know about your child, their interests and how they spend their time outside of school. You may want to ask your child if there is anything they want you to share with the teacher at the conference. Your information helps the teacher better understand and teach your child. Some classrooms will have conferences in which the student is included. Typically these students will have a portfolio or collection of work which they will share. Students show and discuss their learning - not just the end product, but the learning process with their parents. Be sure to check out the book fair with Usborne and the Christian Book Supplier vendors. Looking forward to seeing you at the PTCs this week! Chicken Orders due tomorrow!: Thank you to those of you who continue to support WCS throughchicken sales. For every box sold, our school earns $5. This is a simple way to support the schoolwhile making purchases you would normally be making at the grocery store. You will find the orderform attached to today's parent link email. Please return your order forms to the school, accompaniedwith payment, no later than Tuesday, November 27 . Orders received without payment will not beth

placed. We are only able to accept cash, cheques or debit. No credit cards. Orders will be available forpickup on Thursday, December 13 between 3 and 4 pm. Please make arrangements to have yourth

orders picked up during that time frame, as we will not be storing any orders at the school. We ask thatyou do not come for your order before 3, as we are often sorting orders right up until that time. This

ensures accuracy for everyone. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Sol at 519-539-7839 or [email protected].

Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on November 28 and 29 from 4-6 pm and 7-9 pm. In some cases, these will beth th

Book Fair 2018: Our Fall Book Fair time is upon us once again. It will be held during ALL Parent Teacher Conference Times. We hope you are able to support it as all proceeds help to support our school library. There are however a few changes I wouldlike to let you know about. This year's Book Fair will feature two vendors. Gospel Lighthouse Inc., will be our Christian booksupplier and Cindy Armstrong will be our Usborne Book provider. Scholastic is not attending as they no longer run book fairs atmulti vendor events. WCS also offers the book sales monthly with the book clubs, so be sure to order from there if you arewanting something from Scholastic. (Please contact Miss Body if you wish to know more about that.) We may have anotheroffering from Scholastic Book Fair at another time of the school year. If you would like to volunteer and help out in any way, please feel free to contact me at [email protected]. Thank-you! Mrs. Dieleman
