The centers follow the PCSB calendar and will close on student holidays. The centers will also be closed the following dates in the afternoons for staff meetings and/or training;

August 15 and 16, September 16, October 12, November 18, December 14, January 27,

February 17, March 10, April 21, May 30 & 31.

HOMEWORK

HELP

Homework Help is available every Tuesday and Thursday between 3:00-6:00 PM.

Please contact the center to make sure a volunteer is available that day to help your child.

This is not tutoring and parents must remain on site.

Family Game

Night

On Family Game night parents are invited to bring their children to the center and play board games with them.

Light refreshments are served.

Family Craft

Night

Parents visit the center with their child. We will offer season crafts for the students.

Parents must stay and help their child with the crafts.

FREE

TAX PREP

Free service provide to parents to help them file income taxes. Register for a seat time.

This service is provide from February-April. See schedule for dates and times.


HOMEWORK HELP! DOES YOUR CHILD NEED HELP WITH HOMEWORK?

When:

Homework Helpers will be at each center on TUESDAY & THURSDAY afternoons

What:

Homework Helpers are high schools honors students who are in good academic

standing and have recommendations from their academic advisor or Principal.

Time: 3:00-6:00 PM on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at the parent centers

Homework Help Guidelines:

Homework help is for elementary and middle school age students.

Parents must remain in the center while their child is receiving help with his/her homework.

This is not tutoring but help with homework and parents are invited to sit with their child to learn how to help

Call ahead to the center to make sure that a “Homework Helper” is available. Contact information is below.

Student needs to bring homework and supplies with them.

Students will not be left unattended with the Homework Helper or by their parent at the center.

Title I Books Bridge BusesThree Books Bridge mobile outreach classrooms provide a rich resource for Polk County

Schools through a partnership between Title 1 and Library Media Services. Each bus is staffed

with a certified Library Media Specialist and a Paraprofessional/Driver who create a vibrant

learning environment.

These busses visit schools around the county once a week to provide instruction to K-8

students in vocabulary, comprehension, writing, content areas, technology integration, and

research and library skills.

The Books Bridge program also partners with Title 1 Parent Centers each week to support and

promote Parent Center programs.
