Attendance
• Importance of regular attendance ( & rewards – class trophy/certificates)
• When attendance drops below 95% Mrs O’Connor becomes involved and you will be contacted by letter.
• A home school agreement with targets will be put in place if attendance continues to be poor which can result in the EWO becoming involved.
PunctualityImportance of punctuality – Non-uniform day
‘Every Second Count s!’ Did you know..? If your child is late 10 minutes every day, then over the course of a year, they will miss out on 32.5 hours of learning time – which is the same as being absent for more than a full week of school! We want to work together with parents to provide children with the best possible start in life. Part of our role as adults is helping the children we take care of to develop important life skills. Attendance and punctuality are two very important life skills.
• IPC has been updated in line with the new curriculum.
• Exit and Entry points.
• IPC involves science, History, Geography, Citizenship, Art and Design Technology.
• This year, we will be linking all of our writing and some of our maths to the topic we are studying.
• Other subjects will also be timetabled into the school week, such as PE and RE.
• Any skills not covered will be taught at other times.

New Assessment Procedures• There is a new curriculum and therefore a new way of
assessing the children. • The new curriculum focuses on deepening understanding,
and not moving on before children have embedded a skill or concept.
• Teachers will no longer be using levels. Therefore, your child will no longer be given the label of 3a, 4c etc………..
• Teachers will now be able to tell you if your child is on track to meet year group expectations.
• They will also be able to communicate to you which areas of the curriculum your child needs to develop further in.
• There will still be formal assessments in years 2 and 6, however the government are still finalising their eventual layout.
• Mr Redman will be doing a ‘new assessment’ workshop for parents on Tuesday 6th October at 2.30pm.
