Reactions 1494, p2 - 29 Mar 2014 Parents often fail to report their children’s ADRs Many parents in the UK, particularly in London, do not report suspected ADRs experienced by their children to a healthcare professional, according to new research conducted on behalf of the UK MHRA. The research showed that parents in London were the least likely to inform a healthcare professional about a suspected ADR. Only 69% of London parents said they would report an ADR to a physician and 39% indicated they would ask a pharmacist. The percentage of parents reporting ADRs was highest in Wales (88% and 56%, respectively). Interestingly, parents in London were most aware of the MHRA’s Yellow Card Scheme as an option to report an ADR, with 14% of London parents indicating they know of the scheme compared with a national average of 9%.
