There is still room for talk, of course, but the walk is very important and its best not burdened too much with promises we might not be able to keep. New Year Resolutions have their place and should be encouraged but not to the point where we are set up for failure or criticism. It is better to focus on going forward, step by step, day by day and enjoying the journey as best we can. Hopefully this will be a good year for us, as parish and individuals. At best, we will be there with and for each other on good days and days that might not be so good. Enjoy the walk. Share the talk and, to one and all Happy New Year.

SECOND SUNDAY OF CHRISTMAS 5th January 2020

There were a lot of images doing the rounds on New Year’s Eve but I very much liked this one. There is still room for talk, of course, but the walk is very important and it’s best not burdened too much with promises we might not be able to keep. Share the talk and, to one and all …

Happy New Year.

2019 IN OUR PARISH During 2019, as a parish community we prayed with and for:

27 parishioners who died 13 babies who were baptized 7 couples who celebrated their marriage 25 young people who were confirmed 10 of our younger parishioners who received First Holy Communion

Behind each of these figures, we find people left to grieve, parents doing their best for their children, couples finding their way in marriage and young people advancing in their faith. We pray for each and every one and ask, in a special way, that all who have died may rest in the peace of Christ. May we continue to support and pray for one another throughout 2020.

P ope Francis has called for a special day to focus on the importance of Scripture and of proclaiming God’s word.

He says: “The Bible is not meant for a privileged few. It belongs “to those called to hear its message and to recognize themselves in its words”. The Sunday set aside for this is the 3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time (26th January) and, on that weekend, we will ask Ministers of The Word to commit them-selves to helping proclaim God’s message through reading the Scriptures for us at Mass. It is a good time to look to some additional readers so, if you feel you might be able to share in this ministry, please get in touch. We might arrange one or two evenings to get together as Ministers of The Word to focus on the importance of this ministry and, on that Sunday, we will place special emphasis on the use of Scripture in church. Further details in the coming weeks.
