ST. PAUL
„The love of God has been
poured into our hearts by
the Holy Spirit which has
been given to us.‟
To celebrate Lent well, we need frequent reminders that Lent was
originally the final period of the early Catechumens‘ preparation for
Baptism. But we who are already baptized need this preparation as
much as the Catechumens. We need the understating of all aspects of
Baptism, and above all, we need the conversion to Christ, that was not
part of our consciousness when we were baptized as infants.
God has done great things for us. Yet, how often like the Israelites do
we put the Lord to the test by saying ―Is the Lord with us, or not?‖
St. Paul reminds us: ―The love of God has been poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit which has
been given to us.‖
The Samaritan woman at the well, recognized Jesus as the ‗Messiah‘ and her heart being made
aware of his infinite goodness and love, rushes off to reveal this to the villagers; thus enabling her
to become an apostle leading them to Christ, before any of the Chosen Twelve.
Entrance Antiphon:
My eyes are ever fixed on the
Lord, for he releases my feet
from the snare. O look at me
and be merciful, for I am
wretched and alone.
1st Reading:
Exodus 17:3-7
Psalms 94:1-2, 6-9
Responsorial Psalm:
If today you hear his voice,
harden not your hearts.
2nd Reading:
Romans 5:1-2, 5-8
Gospel Acclamation:
Glory to you, Word of God, Lord
Jesus Christ!
Lord, you are truly the Saviour
of the world; give me living
water, that I may never thirst
again.
Glory to you, Word of God, Lord
Jesus Christ!
Gospel:
John 4:5-42
Before Communion:
Lord, by the grace of this
sacrifice may we who ask
forgiveness be ready to forgive
one another.
Communion Antiphon:
Whoever drinks the water that
I shall give him, says the Lord,
will have a spring inside him,
welling up for eternal life.
After Communion:
Lord, in sharing this sacrament
may we receive your
forgiveness and be brought
together in unity and peace.

PROJECT
COMPASSION WEEK 3: Australia
3rd Sunday of Lent
Like many First Australians, Uncle
Richard was torn from his family and
culture as a child. Forced to grow up in
the State-run Kinchela Boys Home
(KBH), he suffered violence and pain that haunted his adult
years. Now, through Kinchela Boys Home Aboriginal
Corporation, a Caritas Australia partner, he is reconnecting
with former KBH boys in a program that restores their wellbeing
and helps their families.
Please donate to Project Compassion 2017 and help members
of the Stolen Generations support each other on the journey to
wellbeing.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS Each Friday of Lent, at St. Mary MacKillop, commencing
at 7.00 p.m. there will be Exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament with Stations of the Cross beginning at
7.30 p.m. The hour will conclude with Benediction.
Each Wednesday morning of Lent there will be Stations of
the Cross at the end of the 9.30 a.m. Mass at St. Paul‘s.
SAMOAN DIVINE MERCY
PRAYER GROUP
Samoan Divine Mercy Prayer
Group – at St Pauls Church
every Tuesday at 7pm
and the 4th Sunday of the
month at 3pm.
TUESDAY EVENING
Entrance:
Chorus:
Come to the water!
You who are thirsty!
Though you have nothing, I bid you come!
And be filled with the goodness I have to
offer!
Come! Listen! Live!
Why spend your money on what cannot
fill
the emptiness deep in your heart?
Listen to my word and you will enjoy;
goodness and peace in your heart.
Just as the heavens are high above earth;
My ways and thoughts beyond you!
Call me your Father and know I am near!
I will be Father to you!
Responsorial Psalm:
If today you hear His voice,
Harden not your hearts.
If today you hear His voice,
Harden not your hearts.
Gospel Acclamation:
God loved our world so much
God gave us his only Son
That we who believe in him
May have the fullness of life.
Offertory:
O God, you search me and you know me.
All my thoughts lie open to your gaze.
When I walk or lie down you are before
me:
Ever the maker and keeper of my days.
You know my resting and my rising.
You discern my purpose from afar,
And with love everlasting you besiege me:
In ev‘ry moment of life or death, you are.
Before a word is on my tongue, Lord,
You have known its meaning through and
through.
You are with me beyond my
understanding:
God of my present, my past and future,
too.
Although your Spirit is upon me,
Still I search for shelter from your light.
There is nowhere on earth I can escape
you:
Even the darkness is radiant in your
sight.
Communion:
Come back to me, with all your heart
Don‘t let fear keep us apart
Trees do bend, though straight and tall
So must we to others‘ call.
Chorus:
Long have I waited
For your coming home to me
And living deeply our new life.
The wilderness will lead you
To your heart, where I will speak
Integrity and justice
With tenderness, you will know. Chorus
You shall sleep, secure with peace
Faithfulness will be your joy. Chorus
Recessional:
In Christ alone my hope is found,
he is my light, my strength, my song;
this cornerstone, this solid ground
firm through the fiercest drought and
storm.
What heights of love, what depths of
peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings
cease!
My comforter, my all in all,
here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone who took on flesh,
fullness of God in helpless Babe!
This gift of love and righteousness,
scorned by the ones He came to save.
'Till on that cross as Jesus died,
the wrath of God was satisfied.
For every sin on Him was laid;
here in the death of Christ I live.
