PARKER COUNTY VETERANS’ MEMORIAL PARK PROJECT

Dear American Legion Family, The Parker County American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars are continuing fundraising efforts to make the Parker County Veterans Memorial Park a reality. The Parker County Veterans Memorial Park will be located on Eureka Street and Foster in Weatherford, adjacent to the Weatherford Police Department on Santa Fe Drive. This year we have set a target date of Veterans Day, November 11, 2012 to dedicate the initial opening of the Park with the laying of the first pallet of 400 bricks. To date we are only 298 bricks shy of having the 400 (4” x 8” bricks) needed to meet our November 11, 2012 goal for the Veteran’s Day initial Park opening. The cost per 4” x 8” brick is only $50. Final completion of construction of this project will require the sale of 4,000 red paver bricks. Your generous donation and the generous donations of companies and organizations will be used to fund the cost of constructing this Memorial. The red paver bricks as seen in the above picture will comprise the Memorial Park Walk-of-Honor and provide residents a way to memorialize and honor veterans of any branch of service in perpetuity. The Memorial Park capacity is 18,000 bricks.

Chuck Katlic, Survivor of the Battle of the Bulge and Legion Post 163 Chaplain feels strongly for our veterans and the Veterans Memorial Park and said, “All of our men and women of the Armed Forces and our veterans will always be remembered. We can never forget our veterans who have kept our nation free over the past 236 years. “A nation’s greatness is measured by how it treats and remembers its veterans, we have them to thank for our freedom – because of the brave, we are the home of the free”. Can I count on your help? Any amount that you can give will be greatly appreciated and will be used to help bring honor to all those who have bravely served our Country over the years. Soon all of our living World War II Veterans will no longer be with us. Please send your tax deductible donation to the Parker County Veterans Memorial Park Fund in the enclosed envelope. If you would like to memorialize a friend or family member who served, a brick donation form has been provided below. Please fill out the form and return it in a self addressed envelope with your donation. For more information, contact Ron Chandler at 817-223-8926 or [email protected]. A special kiosk in the park will recognize corporate and individual donations in the following categories: Brass = $100 - $499, Silver = $500 – $999, Gold = $1000 - $4999, Platinum = $5000 - $9,999 and Diamond = $10,000 and above. Remember, America’s Veterans gave their all for us so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. Please help us honor those who gave so much for us with a contribution or support for the construction of this Memorial. Thank you very much for your support! Sincerely, Bill Mallory Max Kassera Commander: American Legion Post 163 Commander: VFW Post 4746
