Parkview Communication
Guide
Communication at ParkviewCommunication at ParkviewCommunication at ParkviewCommunication at Parkview Communication at Parkview isn’t just about style or process, it is about the Gospel
message going out in all we do. Being a Gospel messenger means we aim to share in a
clear, consistent and excellent way. Each method of communication is purposeful so
that the Gospel message can be easily understood as it goes forth. To help us in this
aim, we’ve put together this booklet to serve as a guide for our communication both
internally and externally.
ParkviewParkviewParkviewParkview BasicsBasicsBasicsBasics The core of who we are and what we do at Parkview can best be understood through our
beliefs, vision, mission, values and strategic objectives. All communication supports
these Parkview basics.
Parkview is a member of the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA). Everything
we communicate about our beliefs aligns with the EFCA Statement of Faith.
Parkview’s Vision, Mission and Values are a focal point in all our communication.
Parkview’s Vision is to help people experience the hope and healing
power of the Gospel.
Parkview’s Mission is to equip people to extend the Gospel together for
the good of our neighbors and our world.
V
Parkview has nine core values that guide how we interact and
communicate with one another. These values are especially important
for internal communication as we develop a staff culture that will radiate
out into our leaders and congregation.
Love Sacrificially acting for each other’s best.
Truth Treat each other with uncompromising truth and candor.
Communication Proactively communicate challenges and opportunities.
Trust Lavish trust on your teammates.
Openness Be receptive to new ideas regardless of their sources.
Risk Taking Challenge yourself and the team with innovative ideas and solutions.
Honoring One Another Respect the team and spotlight the success of others.
Intentional Reconciliation
Seeking one another intentionally in the face of potential or perceived conflicts.
Whole Hearted Clear devotion and passion about our team and our task.
Parkview has developed strategic objectives that help guide us in areas
of growth over a period of 3-5 years. Our strategic objectives will help
us prioritize communication at Parkview.
Strategic Objectives 2016-2019 Community Groups A key part of our mission is to have people
living on mission together in community groups. We firmly believe that as people live life together they will be better able to help each other grow spiritually, apply God’s Word together, and reach out to their neighbors more effectively.
Discipleship Pathway Our calling as a church is to make disciples. We need to clearly evaluate how we are doing this. We need to evaluate the needs of someone brand new to Parkview, new to their faith as well as those who have been attending Parkview and walking with Jesus for many years.
Values
Strategic Objectives
Care We long to be a church where people are cared for by the hope and healing power of the Gospel. While our community groups will serve as the primary place for physical, emotional and spiritual care, we realize there will be some needs that exceed what a community group may be able to provide. We want to put a system of care in place to assist with the next level of care or a concurrent place of care for those in community. These systems will utilize trained and gifted believers to serve the needs of others in areas such as marriage struggles, depression, addiction, anger, divorce, and grief.
Evangelism Our vision is to help people experience the hope and healing power of the Gospel. We need to evaluate how we are leading people to Jesus.
Multiplication To reach our rapidly growing county, we are striving to establish new campuses, community groups, and ministries throughout the area.
The Parkview Communication ProcessThe Parkview Communication ProcessThe Parkview Communication ProcessThe Parkview Communication Process As Parkview becomes a larger church with multiple campuses, it is important we
coordinate our communication to promote a one voice mentality across our ministries
and campuses. With so much going on at Parkview, we will prioritize communication
that promotes our basics and applies to a vast majority of our congregation. As time and
space permit, we will assist ministries with smaller and more targeted efforts as well.
Every communication effort should be tied to an existing Parkview ministry. Requests
are best funneled through the administrative staff associated with each ministry. Every
event or initiative should present a request for communication each time the event or
initiative occurs.
Here’s the process for requesting communication at Parkview:
Determine the scope of your communication
Churchwide, Reaches 80% of the church, Assists us in furthering our Strategic Objectives
Large demographic, Reaches 50% of the church, Many but not all of the church could attend
Small or Targeted Demographic, Participation is limited by such things as age, life stage or location

credible sources such as the Merriam-Webster Diction and Thesaurus or Grammarly

multiple people.
Giving credit is a way we can honor others. Please be sure to cite your sources on all

As we build communication at Parkview, our focus is growing our Facebook and
Instagram accounts before expanding and using other social media. Consistency is key
for social media in building an audience that interacts and participates through our
church channels.
Our official Parkview Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/parkviewchurch.
The audience on our Facebook page is unique with 70% females and 30% males and
spans a wide range of ages with a majority in the 25-54 age range. We use Facebook to
look to what’s ahead, celebrate what God is doing at Parkview, interact with our
members and highlight different ministries. We prefer video over images and images
over plain text. We encourage the use of Facebook events for wide-reaching events.
Our official Parkview Instagram account is
https://www.instagram.com/parkviewchurchic/. The audience on our Instagram
account is primarily teens through mid-thirties. We use Instagram to inspire and
encourage followers. Our tone is more jovial and casual in nature. We prefer beautiful,
contemporary images and short videos.
Hashtags
Hashtags help people find and sort information. We use hashtags on both Facebook and
Instagram. Here are the official Parkview hashtags:
#ParkviewChurch
#ParkviewCentralCampus
#ParkviewEastCampus

Parkview ministries are welcome to have and maintain their own social media channels.
Communication on the channels should be consistent and aligned with Parkview’s
basics. The description of your ministry should include that you are a ministry of
Parkview Church. We encourage ministries to share posts from the main Parkview
account when it applies to your audience.
As with any form of communication, there can be pitfalls. Please watch for things like
self-promotion in your posts and opt to honor God and others. While interaction and
healthy conversation can be a highlight of using social media, avoid allowing arguments
or division in your posts by encouraging in-person conversations. Hide all spam and
block users who do not follow our values of communication.
If you would like to start a new ministry account, please contact the Director of
Communication.
