Volunteer SpotlightFor the Cordanis, volunteering is a family affair. Ben and Vicky, as Board
members representing Caterpillar and Next Door’s Marketing Committee, lead by example. They have given tirelessly of their time, talent and treasure, and demonstrate to their children the importance of serving the community. Ben and Vicky engaged their two young sons Jacob and Alex to not only
help us on event day, but also assist in the preparation of the Walk the week before! The day of the Walk the whole gang arrived early and stayed
late pitching in wherever help was needed. This small family played a very large role in the Walk’s success. Thank you, Cordani Family, for everything you
do for Next Door but especially for making us a part of your family.

Walk for ChildrenWalk Sponsors
Friends, children and families gathered on May 16 to show support for our 26th Annual Walk for Children and to honor the work we do and the people we serve at Next Door. Our Walk is one of the community’s most powerful and enduring responses to the educational gap for young children in our city. We couldn’t be more thankful for your support!

I walk
today for my kids
To show how much I care for my community
Because early childhood
education matters
Walk participants were asked to share “WHY” they were walking.
Eddie Lacy took a moment to thank our presenting sponsor, Harley-Davidson Motor Company for their generous support. He also enjoyed walking with Mayor Barrett with the Northwestern Mutual Team and the large crowd through our Next Door neighborhood.
Emcees Mark Baden and Melinda Davenport from WISN Channel 12 hosted one of the highlights of
the day - a trike race that went viral thanks to ESPN. Clifford, who appeared courtesy of Scholastic Books, was also a big hit!
Local corporations and area churches made their presence known by walking in teams for the cause. Balloons, bubbles and face
painting added to our celebration of our Next Door children. Philly’s popular kid’s band, Alex and the Kaleidoscope
provided the soundtrack for the day with some great dance music to get the crowd movin’ and groovin’!
