There is no national organization called Rich Parents AgainstSchool reform, in part because there does not have to be.But many such parents are effectively sacrificing otherchildren to their own and mortgaging their own childrenspresent to the future

The PASS ( Partnerships for Academically Successful Students) Team

is an offshoot of the School Equity team.

PASS Team members participate in training and professional learning

activities designed to facilitate the development of inclusive

school-community partnerships that promote the success ofunder-served and underachieving students by engaging their parents

in meaningful, effective, and respectful ways.

There are five essential PASS Team training and community goals :

1. Bridging the cultural gap between schools and parents/ community members;

2. Identifying community resources that can be used to support students academic success;3. Learning to make community partnerships and parent/teacher relationships a constitutiveand intentional elements of district/school equity transformation efforts;

4. Involving community members in district/ school planning and advisory processes;

5. Improving relationships between teachers, parents and families.

PASS is designed to establish a systemic collaboration between parents,

educators and community constituents that will provide students of color the

best chances for reaching their fullest potential.

Phase I: PEG consultants work with school staff, family and community

members to develop knowledge, skills and capacity to empower themselves to

effectively engage the district in collaborative efforts that are aimed at

strengthening partnerships to develop the whole child.

Phase II:PASS teams review progress from previous year and begin todevelop leadership capacities that will enable members to develop skill sets to

facilitate adult learning. Begin to develop strategies and action plans based off

of equity vision.

Phase III: PASS teams focus on moving the process deeper into the established

community. More complex strategies and action plans developed.
