ST. ANTHONY PARISH KANSAS CITY, MO

Dear friends in Christ, Today, 2nd Sunday of Easter, we complete the octave of this liturgical time. During eight days we contemplate the same mystery and we try to go deeper into it by the light of the Holy Spirit. Pope John Paul II decided to call this Sunday Divine Mercy Sunday. In his encyclical Dives in Misericordia, the Holy Father explains that Divine Mercy is the ultimate manifestation of God's love in a history injured by sin. In Latin “Misericordia” (which means “mercy”) comes from two words: “Miseria” (misery) and “cor” (heart). Our own despicable situation due to sin is placed by God in Jesus' loving heart, that is faithful to His Father's designs. Jesus Christ, dead and resurrected, is the supreme manifestation and acting of the Divine Mercy. «For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son» (Jn 3:16) and has sent him to die to save us. Dear Parishioners: The Holy Week and Easter Sunday Celebrations went very well, thanks to the many people who helped and volunteer with the decorations and preparations for the liturgies. Our Parish is very blessed to have exceptionally talented and giving people who are always willing to make it happen. Now we are doing the flower campaign fundraiser for the church floors; please help us finish the third phase of the church renovation, which are the floors and pews, in preparation for the celebration of the Centennial of our Church Building. I want also to express my best wishes in the celebration of the 100th birthday of Frances Schneider, a long-time parishioner. May the Lord help us be a family to pray for one another, especially during an occasion like this one, since not every day we hear about some one reaching this big number. Frances, we are your church Family, and we will offer many more prayers for you. May the Lord strength us to grow in Love, hope and faith as members of our Saint Anthony’s parish. Blessings to you and yours in this Holy Year of Saint joseph In Christ, Fr Andrés

SUNDAY : 2ND SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 11, 2021
