PASTOR’S FEBRUARY ARTICLE

SEEK GOD FOR THE CITY
63 - That is how many of our people responded by posting comments on the bulletin board after the first message in the brief series “Generous God, Generous Giver”. Like many of you, I took the time to briefly read these comments that were posted in the foyer. Then I took them down and de-cided to read them again more closely. WOW! What a blessing it was! For example: - “Thank you for showing me you love me in so many ways. I am so blest. I love you Lord.”
“Thank you for life and the privilege to enjoy your creation.”
I am thankful to God that I am a born again be-liever…”
Thank you for life and loving me when I was still a sinner.”
Or how about this one from a mom …”I thank you for our children. They are truly a graceful gift.” A dad (exactly as he wrote it)… “Thank you for the second Chancses ...er Chances!” Even children got involved … “Thank you for giving me a hungry mind, always searching for more day af-ter day.” Or “I thank you Lord for my
Daddy that he is home”, or “Thank you for my mommy and dad and grandmas and grandpas and brothers and friends, they are the best”, or “Thank you for forgiving me...dying for me.”
There is so much more I could include as people expressed such wonderful thanksgiving to our Generous God for health, family, friends, church, jobs, etc… It is so great to be sur-rounded by a people of gratitude. May God continue to bless you.
Before I end my newsletter article I want to invite you to join me in praying for our city and our world. In a couple of weeks I will be announcing the 40 days of prayer entitled “Seek God for the City”. Prayer booklet guides will be available and the 40 days will run March 5 through April 13, 2014. Similar to the way we highlighted Advent Sundays we will highlight the days of prayer each Sunday morning leading up to Easter. Please see additional informa-tion elsewhere in this newsletter or go to www.waymakers.org for details. (Open Door of Hibbing will also be participating)

Christian One‐Liners:
Don't let your worries get the best of you; Remember, Moses started out as a basket case.
Some people are kind, polite, and sweet‐spirited
Until you try to sit in their pews.
Many folks want to serve God,
But only as advisers.
It is easier to preach ten sermons
Than it is to live one.
The good Lord didn't create anything without a purpose,
But mosquitoes come close
When you get to your wit's end,
You'll find God lives there.
People are funny; they want the front of the bus,
Middle of the road,
And back of the church.
Opportunity may knock once,
But temptation bangs on the front door forever.
We're called to be witnesses, not lawyers or Judges.
God Himself doesn't propose to judge a man until
he is dead. So why should you?
Some minds are like concrete
Thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.
Peace starts with a smile
Be ye fishers of men. You catch 'em ‐ He'll clean 'em.
Stop, Drop, and Roll won't work in Hell.
Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous.
Don't put a question mark where God put a period.
Don't wait for 6 strong men to take you to church.
Forbidden fruits create many jams.
God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called.
God grades on the cross, not the curve.
God loves everyone,
But probably prefers 'fruits of the spirit' over 'religious nuts!'
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
He who angers you, controls you!
If God is your Co‐pilot, swap seats!
Prayer: Don't give God instructions, just report for duty!
The task ahead of us is never as
great as the Power behind us.
The Will of God never takes you to where the
Grace of God will not protect you.
We don't change the message,
The message changes us.
You can tell how big a person is
By what it takes to discourage him/her.
The best mathematical equation I have ever seen:
1 cross + 3 nails = 4 given.
The February “Coffee Time” held in the foyer will be sponsored by the Great Commission Women. We will be collecting gifts towards our National Project which is, “Building Relationships with the Lord & People”. We will be giving towards the Cultural Coffee- house in Spain. The goal for this project is $76,200, and our goal for the HAC family is $1,300. The reason for this offering is: . Conversational evangelism in a coffeehouse setting . Relationship building among North African immigrants in Spain The sweet aromas of North African mint tea and the rich roast of Spanish café con leche bridge two nations on common ground. The cultural coffee- house will enable Alliance workers to meet new people and have spiritual conversations over a warm beverage. Christian resources, Bible studies, and discipleship will round out the coffeehouse experience. There will be a can (with the above logo) on the counter for you to put your gifts in. There will also be a limited amount of small, “International coffee” containers for a family to bring home to collect spare change in. Any help you are able to give will be greatly appreciated! We do not turn the offering in until May, so you can continue to give after GCW are done at the coffee counter!
