What is EASA Part 66 ? How to get an EASA Part-66 Licence?

Part 66 is basically, a specific dedicated section within the Regulation in which EASA establishes the standards/conditions under which a maintenance Engineer is authorized to release an aircraft into service after a maintenance operation.In order to obtain the Part 66 Basic Aircraft Maintenance License (AML). The candidate should fulfill the two most important prerequisites defined in EASA Part-66 Regulations:

BASIC KNOWLEDGE

REQUIREMENTS (PART 66.A.25):

The Theoretical training for AML can be achieved by one of the following ways:- Approved basic course:its duration is 2 years obtained in maintenance training organization member state approved under part 147 EASA- Passing the basic modules exams with score over 70% according to the license category, the applicant want to issue.CAT A: Line Maintenance MechanicCAT B: Base Maintenance Technician

BASIC EXPERIENCE (66.A.30);

An applicant for Part66 AML should acquire apractical maintenance experience atapproved Aircraft Maintenance Organization(AMO) under part 145 from the national CAAat least, the number of years for practicalexperience required to issue AML accordingto category applied for is as follow:

• CAT A: 3 years• CAT B: 5 years • CAT C: 8 years

Part-66 licences issued by the countriesother than EASA Member States are notmutually recognised in European system.On top of that:• Part 66 AML issued by Foreign EASA

Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) EASAconversion

According to ANNEX, I (Part-FCL) toCommission Regulation (EU) No 1178/2011,

Pilots from all around the world can work inany of EASA member state by convertingtheir ATPL or CPL license to EASA. Europehas beneficial pay and working conditionsand it gives preferential hiring to the holdersof EASA license.
