Motivations

Yoga, with its deep spirituality, science, philosophy, is a world’s humanity

heritage that should not be reserved for few. It is born as an initiatory esoteric

discipline, but now it is necessary to donate this precious thing to everyone

without distinction. This is what Maharishi Patanjali did by codifying and

rearranging Yoga through a path defined in the Yoga Sutra around Year Zero

(400 BC / 400 AD).

And the choice of Bhopal as the site of project, it is not the random. First of

all, because Patanjali birthplace is situated just a few km from Bhopal,

second, because this beautiful city, which lies on the shores of three lakes,

has the right, at least, a moral compensation from the West.

Our intention is to change the image of disaster caused by an

“unconsciousness” Union Carbide and show what this city really is: a lively,

fascinating city that deserve an “aware” tourism, that of the 300,000,000

followers of Yoga that have as a point of reference the great sage Patanjali.

Not tourists but “voyagers”, to restore the luster to this wounded city, and, at

the same time, to celebrate “the father of Yoga” Maharishi Patanjali.

MANY THANKS: From 18th to 24th October 2011 took place in Bhopal, in the state of Madhya

Pradesh, India, and in Gondarmau (birth village of Maharishi Patanjali, compiler of the Yoga

Sutras and father of Yoga) the International Event “Patanjali Week Celebration” organized by

The Yog Confederation of India, affiliated to the International Yog Confederation, The World

Community of Indian Culture & Traditional Disciplines, the World Movement for Yoga &

Ayurveda and in association with North-Eastern Council, Ministry of DoNER, Govt of India.

The event has been inaugurated by Minister of Tourism H.E. Shri Subodh Kant Sahai

,Indian Government, and H.E. Governor of Madhya Pradesh, Shri Ramnaresh Yadav who,

along with many estimated authorities in political, cultural, religious and spiritual field, have

celebrated the beginning of the Conference’s works.

The Celebration has been honored by the presence of Members of Parliament: Hon. Shri

Cpt Jainarayan Prasad Nishad , Hon. Dr. Shri Prasanna Kumar Patsani and Hon. Shri

Kamal Kishor. A warm thank also to our dear Indian brothers and organizers Shri Vijai Tiwari

and Smt. Laxmi Thakur Singhal (on the background in photo) that, like us, are always ready

to offer generously their Karma Yoga for a volunteer social service.

Not to mention the beautiful cards and letters of congratulations received by President of India

H.E. Smt. Pratibha Patil and Prime Minister H.E. Manmohan Singh in 2010 for this important

event. On this occasion, at the suggestion of foreign organizations that were present, it was

decided to hold the third edition of the PWC-Patanjali Week Celebration from 27th December

2012 to 2nd January 2013, in which you're all invited to participate.
