In 1942 the Army Arts and Crafts Program was established to increase

morale and find artists to help with enhancing buildings and grounds of Army

facilities. The program was so successful that the Army created the “Arts and

Crafts Section of Special Services” to “fulfill the natural human desire to

create, provide opportunities for self-expression serve old skills and develop

new ones and assist the entire recreation program through construction

work, publicity, and decoration.”

Today the Stuttgart Arts and Crafts Branch of Family and MWR is a dynamic and vibrant Arts and Crafts

program with two facilities, retail operations, and a robust catalog of skill developing instructional classes.

We offer activities that provide deployment stress relief and resiliency to Family members and Soldiers

returning from deployment. The Arts and Crafts program continues to promote Soldier and Family

morale, and fosters individual self-improvement and enriches the community’s cultural quality of life by

offering affordable and quality creative arts instruction and hands-on assistance.

It is a pleasure to serve in the Stuttgart community and we hope that you will find your time

here artistically fulfilling and be able to say, “I’m glad I live here.”

How to use this book: At the beginning of the book you will find a Class List with the name of the

class, the age range it’s for, the dates and the times. Some classes span multiple dates, so you’ll want to

make sure you can attend all the sessions. The rest of the book has the class descriptions and prices.

There are also fun facts, tips and other information scattered throughout the book. We hope you enjoy

reading and find this format informative and useful.

MOMMY/DADDY & ME

If you are looking for something to do with

your tiny ones, ages 6weeks up to 3 years, it

is never too soon to introduce to your little

ones, the joy of creating art. In this class we

make memories while meeting other parents

of little fingers and toes. High chairs and

smocks available upon request.

BUBBLE ART

Bubbles, bubbles everywhere! What could

be more fun than blowing bubbles? In this

class, we will create art by laying shapes

down or even taping off baby’s name, then

covering your painting with just colored

bubbles. Once dried, you will remove the

tape revealing your child’s latest

masterpiece.

TISSUE PAPER STAINED GLASS

Let your little one choose some tissue paper

colors to tear up. (They love that!) Then

have them design their own faux stained

class masterpiece. Mom or Dad will cut out

an initial or favorite shape to frame the work

of art.

LITTLE ARTISTS Encourage the little artist in your child at an

early age to promote creativity and self-

esteem. Little Artist classes are designed for

parents to be hands-on with their child to

complete the project. Therefore we

recommend no more than two children per

adult to get the most out of the class. Classes

will focus on motor skills, creativity and skill

building. When a child creates, every piece is

a work of art!

Classes are designed for 3 – 5 year olds.

MARCH & APRIL

Every Tuesday of March and the last 3

Tuesdays in April, we will be making upcycled

projects in the spirit of Earth Day, April 22.

You will be amazed at what can be done with

the items readily available in your home.

Make an owl, a racecar… or even a fire

breathing dragon!

CREATIVE

EXPRESSIONS

NEW! Creative Expressions is a new

program offered by the Stuttgart Arts and

Crafts program to encourage art exploration

and building resiliency through artistic

expression. Creative Expressions is an open

format program where “makers” can choose

from any number of raw materials to build,

paint, draw, write, sculpt or craft. An artistic

facilitator will assist with getting started and

participants are invited to take as long as

they need or work on as many projects as

they like. There is no limit to the creative

possibilities!

Creative Expressions time slots are based on

age. Please check the schedule for the time

that is right for you. Children 5 years and

younger MUST be accompanied by an adult.

Make your next party a craft party! Great for

birthdays, baby/wedding showers, ladies

night out, FRG meetings and much more!

Parties are usually booked on Fridays and

Saturdays, but other days are possible given

classroom and instructor availability.

Time: Parties are booked for two hours. The

first hour the guests complete an art project

and the second hour is for gifts, cake, etc.

Food: You may bring in all your own food

and drinks and feel free to decorate the room

specific to your party theme.

Instructor: Book with an instructor or

without.

Crafts: Our standard crafts are ceramics,

decopauge and mosaics. Special requests are

possible, but are subject to instructor

availability. Try a painting party or paper

crafting party from one of our contracted

instructors!

GROUP CLASSES If you see a class on the schedule you would

like, but can’t make that time, we can book a

class just for your group! Minimums vary by

class, and times are subject to instructor

availability.

Looking for classes at RB? Let us know

what your group of six or more would like to

learn! If we can bring it on the road we’ll be

happy to teach!

materials at the craft store you receive 10%
