Graduation vs. “A-G” College
Requirements
Validation: Only applies to Math and World
Language
Validation by grade improvement:If you earned a ‘D’ the first semester, and earned an ‘A, B, or C’ in the second semester you still meet the requirement. Validation of higher level coursework (example) A grade of C or higher in Integrated Math 2 validates a D or F grade in Integrated Math 1.You will have met the two year math requirement. NOTE: If you validate, the “D or F” will still be calculated in your GPA.
What if I received a ‘D’ or ‘F’ in any
other A-G subject?
Courses used to satisfy the “A-G” requirements in which
the student earns D or F grades must be repeated with
grades of C or higher.
Options for credit recovery or grade improvement?
• Odysseyware Academy: online, FREE
• CACE - night school, 2 days a week. (English and Social Science
Only), FOR GRADUATION ONLY
• Community College-must be approved by Counselor, low cost!
*** IMPORTANT: All courses outside of Westmont must be approved
by a Counselor PRIOR to a student enrolling. If not, we will NOT
accept the course or credits.
UC (A-G) REQUIREMENTS
• Complete any 11 UC-approved “a-g” courses prior to senior year
• Complete all 15-course “a-g” subject pattern by the end of senior year
• Must be completed with a grade of C or better
Which means, the minimum GPA
to apply is a 3.0 GPA, however…

Naviance Tasks 5*****@my.cuhsd.org
Career/Major Exploration
• You should have completed the StrengthsExplorer assessment in 9th grade. If you have not done this
yet, do this first! Located under the “ABOUT ME” tab.
• Career Exploration: The themes you received from your results will help guide your career exploration.
• Grade Level Tasks: Each year you will be assigned tasks by Guidance/CCC. You can find these in the
“MY PLANNER TAB” under the purple tab labeled “TASKS ASSIGNED TO ME”
• You will come to the Library to get started on these tasks during PE class. These include:
watching some videos in the Road Trip Nation library and completing a survey about them
researching careers and completing a survey about what you’ve learned
thinking about your plan for the future and writing a game plan
• The goal in doing these tasks is that you will become familiar with the resources available to you within
Naviance. By the time you are a Senior you’ll have some idea of what you are interested in pursuing after
high school. If that career requires college you will be more familiar with Naviance and the college
application process will be much easier.
