EXPECTATIONS

Read and adhere to the faculty and student handbooks.

Rules, regulations and policies established for the STM community.

Your obligation as a professional educator employed by St. Thomas More Catholic High School.

BE ON TIME

Minimum 15 minutes prior to opening bell, 15 minutes after dismissal bell.

Call the front office and inform Denelle Acosta if you will be absent.

Sign in / out if you leave campus during the day.

DRESS FOR SUCCESS

Set examples and model acceptable standards of dress.

Be professionally dressed in the manner befitting the position you hold in the school.

Your dress will have an impact on your classroom management.

Special dress days will be announced in Paws.

ATTENDANCE

Submit first thing in the morning on computer.

Check the absentee report for your students.

Missing students, not on absentee notify the office.

TARDY

All students must have a pink tardy slip to enter your class late.

Each tardy is a deduction of 3pts from the student’s conduct grade for the quarter.

Set your expectations for tardies.

RETURN ALL CALLS

Return all calls daily. (phone, e-mail, mailbox request)

The sooner the better.

Keep a log of your calls. (time, date, topic, person you spoke with,

outcome).

WORKROOM / LOUNGE

Should always have a professional atmosphere.

Off limits to all students.

Check boxes daily.

Clear boxes weekly.

Clean – Wash – Trash

Microwave etiquette.

BULLYING / HAZING

Anything that tears down the dignity of an individual. (intentionally or not)

Address it.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Go over with each class, the different types of procedures and what to do on each.

Review with each class at least once a quarter.

DUTYchanges must be approved

Teachers are always on duty.Imperative we have adult supervision.Duty will be active, alert and mobile -- no

reading, grading, on phone, etc.Must be on time and for the duration.ISSUES:Food, drinks outside of food area.AM, uniform, I.D.’s and drinks in mall.

DUTY

Morning mall : check uniforms and trash the drinks.

A.M. bus: caution students about traffic, remind them of uniform code, no food inside.

A.M. locker: unlock at 7am. Roam all locker rooms. No food inside school building, remind them of uniform code. Lock door at 7:30am.

AM/PM parking lot: roam islands, caution students about traffic, no one stays in car, remind of uniform code.

DUTY

Cafeteria : 3 minutes early bring to cafeteria.Srs. Line 1, four minutes to cut. Check

uniforms I.D.’s while in line. Have students clean trash and trays from area.

Canteen : 3 minutes early bring class to cafeteria. No cutting single line, check uniform and I.D.’s, students clean area of trash

Mall : locate and roam the mall , check uniform and I.D.’s. no food or drinks in mall.

DUTY

300, 400,500,600 Hallways :No students are allowed down an occupied

hallway during lunch until 5 minutes left of lunch period.

Check uniforms and I.D.’s, no food or drinks allowed in these areas.

Patio : roam outside area near the tennis courts. Remind students to clean up after eating. Check uniform and I.D’s

SATURDAY DUTY

Teachers will greet students at the lounge entrance of school at 7:30am on the assigned date.

Escort the students to the cafeteria.Students must be in full uniform.Take attendance of students present.Students that arrive after 7:34 will not be admitted.Assign students the work that has been provided in

the folder.Collect the assignments at 9:30am and dismiss the

students.Return the attendance and assignments in the folder

in Lane’s mailbox.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Verbal / Visual

Teachers requested: return the verbal announcements.

Students should remain quiet and attentive.

Announcements to benefit all.

ASSEMBLIES

Teachers are to escort their class to the given location.

Teachers are to sit with their class during the event.

Improves student conduct. Sign V.C. in this situation.

STUDENT CELL PHONES

Teacher requested,

Cell phones are prohibited during the school day, bell to bell.

Confiscate the phone, write a referral and turn both into Lane.

Read written policy to students first day of class. It has been communicated to both students and parents.

FOOD AND DRINKS

No food or drinks of any kind are allowed to be consumed in the classroom.

Confiscate items and dispose of them.

Be consistent everyday.

ABSENCES

Excused : make up for full credit.Unexcused : make up at maximum of 50%.

It is the responsibility of the student on return to communicate with the teacher and set a date that is convenient to the teacher for make up.

STUDENT I.D. AND V.C.

The student must wear at all times their I.D. and V.C. in the plastic pouch with the blue lanyard.

They are to be sent to the office if they do not have either.

Sign the V.C. for minor offenses outside of class, unless subbing a class.

On the fifth signature, sign the card and place it in lane’s mailbox.

CONDUCT GRADE

Always document anytime a student is called to task.

Referrals are required if a student’s conduct grade drops to a “C”

Referral process : Fill out with detailed information.

Green goes to Lane. Pink and Gold go home to be signed and returned, pink is for parents to keep, gold is for teachers file.

CONDUCT GRADE

Note in your records anytime a referral is sent.

If a student gets a “D” in conduct they will be suspended from that class for a day.

If a student gets an “F” in conduct they will receive an in school suspension.

Students with “D or “F” will not be allowed to attend any after school activities on the day of the suspension.

Students with a “D” or “F” will not be allowed to miss that class for any school related activities.

UNIFORM

New Logo is in effect this year.

Skirts / Shorts : 4” above knees, ladies check and send to office if short.

Undershirt : Plain white short sleeve.

Socks : ankle, crew, and knee high -- white, navy or black color.

UNIFORM

Pantyhose / Tights : solid navy only-- no patterns.

Long pants : Navy blue Crest patch on back Belt loops, need belt brown or black.

Shoes : navy / white saddle oxfords and Keds2/3 eyed lace up brown Top SidersWhite “classic Reebok” tennis shoe

BOYS UNIFORM

Shirt : long or short sleeve, white or navy polo style shirt with STM logo.

Undershirt : White short sleeve

Socks : ankle, crew socks--white, navy or black in color with no logo’s.

Belts : required in solid brown or black.

Shoes : 2/3 eyed lace up brown top siders, White “Classic Reebok” tennis shoe. Laces tied.

Sweaters : navy v-neck pullover long sleeve sweater with logo.

Navy or Maroon v-neck sweater vest w/ logo. Navy Cardigan letter sweater w/ logo Jackets : Navy fleece zip-up jacket w/ logo. Athletic letter jacket.

Sweatshirt : Navy blue crewneck hoodless with Cougar logo.

Bought through the Cougar Closet.
