“Trying to conquer Baghdad, was almost more beautiful than Baghdad itself.” – Sultan Murad IVOriginating from a nomadic group of war refugees, they climbed the hierarchy into a small beylik government, until they managed to place their center between Europe and Asia, thus rising as one of the most significant world powers in Eastern Europe. This Ottomans may be annoying but they are not afraid of losing.Imagine the situation in Europe today if the Ottomans never stood in Anatolia. Europe was only more ‘civilized’ after the emergence of the only Islamic government in their region.Furthermore, their wings are not limited to Europe alone. They once subdued the United States without having to fight in North Africa. They have contributed arms, strength and knowledge in Aceh. They are considered as the unsung heroes in Ireland. This manuscript gathers a collection of the best reading materials to learn together without prejudice. The Ottomans are an entity that should be given credit in terms of achievements and contributions to the Islamic world. However, it still can be criticized for any mistakes and tyranny committed as there is no longer a perfect Islamic leader as the Prophet Rasulullah SAW left this world.“If the earth were a single state, Istanbul would be its capital.” – Napoleon Bonaparte

In 1940, the Japanese warlords had to agree on a decision.

They have only two options - Hokushin-ron (Road to the North) or Nanshin-ron (Road to the South). Hokushin-ron remained the doc-trine of the expansion of Japanese power that targeted the northern regions of Japan, which are Manchuria and Siberia that have its poten-tial in politics and economy. In the other hand, Nanshin-ron targeted the southern part that includes Southeast Asia region which is rich in natural resources; a crirical aspect of Japan’s power expansion. The Japanese never show their empathy when it comes to colonization as they believe they are on par with Western pow-ers as they already owned vast empires and col-onies.

However, the report of Colonel Masanobu Tsuji who is the head of the Taiwan Military Research Unit (Unit No. 82) claimed that providing fuel for the entire use of the Japanese army could only last for one year if they fought with the Soviet Union. Thus, Colonel Tsuji was responsi-ble for the Japanese advance to Southeast Asia that included Malaya, the Philippines, Borneo and the Dutch East Indies (now Indonesia). But for this mission, Colonel Tsuji was given only 6 months! For planning and training.

use of ships? How will the Japanese re-supply the infantry that will be advancing with Blitz-krieg-style alike 1,000 km from Songkhla to Singapore? At the same time, can this opera-tion be carried out simultaneously with the en-deavor of preventing the American navy from keep on dominating the Pacific Ocean? In the meanwhile, London had mandated the Brit-ish army in Malaya to hold out until the rescue come if someday war erupted in the Far East.

Witness the clash of two great powers in Mala-ya in this Malaya 1941.

Trivia:Malaya 1941 is the review of Malayan campaign, was a military campaign fought by Allied and Axis forces in Malaya, from 8 December 1941 – 31 Jan-uary 1942 during the Second World War. It was dominated by land battles between British Commonwealth army units, and the Imperial Japanese Army with minor skirmishes at the beginning of the campaign between British Commonwealth and Royal Thai Armed Forces. The Japanese had air and naval supremacy from the opening days of the campaign. For the British, Indian, Australian and Malayan forces defending the colony, the campaign was a total disaster.

The operation is notable for the Japanese use of bicycle infantry, which allowed troops to carry more equipment and swiftly move through thick jungle terrain. Royal Engineers, equipped with demolition charges, de-stroyed over a hundred bridges during the retreat, yet this did little to delay the Japanese. By the time the Japanese had captured Singapore, they had suffered 9,657 casualties; Allied losses totaled 145,703, including 15,703 casualties and 130,000 captured.

Seo Young-hae – a journalist, diplomat, and independence fighter. He was the only big name in Europe to contact the shadow government in Paris and fought for 27 years for the independence of Korea.

If one’s life in this world is like a drama, Seo Young-hae’s life can be an interesting and amazing drama. From the colonial era of the Japanese Empire until the post-independence era, the government’s recognition of world history and the great development of Korea is reflected in his life.

Seo Young-hae fought for Korea’s freedom for the rest of his life. He was there when his country was divided into South Korea and North Korea. He was a wise man, believed in the moral philosophy of Confucius, spoke seven languages, pacifist and anti-fascist.

Unfortunately, he was an unrecognized Korean independence activist in Paris. His name is barely known by the present generation.

Hence, hopefully this book will be able to provide simple and concise answers to questions such as, “Who is Seo Young-hae? Is there such an independence activist?”

30 years have passed since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 ending the Cold War. No matter how technologically advanced, or how civilized, civilization can be, international relations will not escape the following laws:

“Enemies of the enemy are friends”

“No enemies or friends remain”

“Geography is destiny”

The integrity of the international system built by the United States since 1945 based on liberal democracy, market economy and human rights are now facing great challenges from the rise of the leaders “strongman”, economic protectionism and populism-nationalism spirit.

What is happening to the globalisation and borderless world that have aggressively been circulated in the last three decades? Is the new world order that will be born later would be better than the old order, or otherwise?

By using these three main keys of geopolitics, which are POWER, GEOGRAPHY and IDENTITY, this book will elaborate on the major questions regarding the current international relationship.

MALACCA is a big name in the history world. It is a Malay city that achieved a high quality of civilization within the 14th to 15th Century.

The city excelled to usher a sort of recognition from the world’s contemporary great powers such as the Chinese Ming and the Portuguese Joannine Dynasty. Stories about Malacca after its fall spread across the world in writings, somewhat as pearls bouncing out of a knot.

This book recollected every piece to re-thread the lost love toward this Ma-lay civilization. Every recorded prose about Malacca was polished to capture a definite understanding for our current generation to learn. The Malacca Event in the Malay and Portuguese, along with other records, were collected and arranged into a singular, reader-friendly summary.

In line with a history philosophy, let history be written based on what had happened, this book was persistent to feature Malacca from publicly accredited sources and deflect false claims that Malacca was a myth. It is hoped this book could sow the patriotic seeds among the Malays and without a doubt spark con-fidence and self-esteem.

As the proverb goes, there is no use to cry over spilled milk. But Malacca was a memorable achievement within the Malay culture; it should not be forgotten. Peace, harmony, justice and prosperity among the citizens during that time should be repeated for the best interests of everyone. I hope this book would avail as many information for the younger generation, as well as the general populace.

The human mind, thoughts and behaviour is an “area” that has yet to be fully explored by scientists due to the complexity and its research process that is complicated. The study of the human mind is known as psychology; the study of mind, the way it works and how the process of the (internal) mind affects someone’s behaviour or personality (external). However, do you know that studies, debates and discussions about it have begun in ancient times? Some of the earliest records of human psychology are in the year 387 BC. At that time, the famous philosopher Plato proposed his view by saying that the brain is the location where the process of mind works, whereas in 335 BC, Aristotle claimed that the process took place in the heart.According to The Oxford Handbook of the History of Psychology: Global Perspectives, Islamic scientists also give great contributions to the study of the human mind. For example, Ibn Sina investigates and is capable of treating seizures, dreams, and memory weakness problems. In addition, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, the first hospital to start treating psychiatric problems was founded by Muslim doctors in the Middle Ages. The Human’s Complex explores the logic behind human mind and behaviour through experiments conducted by scientists and psychologists. May the content of this book enlighten us and lead us to do self-reflection to become better human beings in the future.“The mind of man is capable of anything.” – Joseph Conrad

“People who are rising need to feel the proudness of their own race, as a supreme, privileged and historical race to the point that they can influence the young generations. Hence they strive for that supremacy and honour with their own blood and soul. They work for the sake of their land, the honour and bliss.” – Hassan Al Banna

Dishonouring and downgrading Malay implies treacherous towards the Malay people since it can seriously kill the capabilities of the race, which can lead them to the end, just like other supreme races that had been wiped out throughout history.

Let us look at how other races strive to bring up their nobility. They do not spread around the narrative that their race is cowardice, irresponsible, lazy, slave and so on. They spread around the narrative that their race is prestigious, both through history and even now.

Therefore, this book is published with the aim of rising up the Malay’s spirit. Enough with the talk saying that Malays are lazy, outdated and spiteful. Let us go through the Malay’s odyssey that shows Malay people as conquerors, warriors, great sailors, great intellectuals, prestigious diplomats, excellent preachers and honourable leaders of all around the world.

Hopefully this book would bring back the secretive alternation of the Malay race, and thus stand together to create long-lasting supremacy.

The birth of the last prophet, Prophet Muhammad SAW, is a proof of the birth of a great civilization. As most of these civilizations were built and stood on the shores and basins of the river, the power of God destined the Islamic civilization to stand in the middle of a completely hot and dry desert. Prophet Muhammad SAW taught his people the meaning of life through the fragments of revelation from God until it became a great holy book, the Quran.

A civilization that begins at a place that does not have anything great, succeeded in shaking up the two world powers (left and right sides) until the two giant empires collapsed in ruins. The series of wars written in books always tell about the fallen warriors and the martyrs who died while fighting against the haughty Persian and Roman armies.

Surely the stories about the brave Umayyad, the precious Abbasid and the Sufi Ottoman are always admired. Unfortunately, all of this has slowly being forgotten, signifying that the time of darkness has come. There are also histories about the backstabbing, bloodshedding chase of thrones, and the great ancient intellectuals. May the greatness of the glory once again flourish in the hearts of all Muslims to bring back the greatness that is longed for.

Lights. Camera. Action!!

Movies. It is a medium used to convey meaning, set the agenda, propagate propaganda, sow hate, inspire passion, treat love and embrace love.

The influence and importance is just great.

However, many people do not recognize the difficulty, restraint, stiffness and pain behind the scenes. Some of the dramas behind the curtains are greater and more fun compared to what is being presented to the audience on the silver screen.

This book brings the reader back to the history of the country’s filmmaking, the rise and fall, during the world war and hustle and bustle of politics.

Country film. Excellent. Prominent. Dumped.

Operation Badr: The Defeat of Israel

When Egypt and the Arab country lost to Israel in during the Six-Day War 1967, there were myths saying that Israel would not lose to Arab. The president, Anwar Sadat who replaced Gamal Abdel Nasser tried to look for the formula to restore the Arab’s reputation. He realised that the necessity is not to find magical formula, but the trick to defeat Israel and recaptured the Sinai land.

Israel was strong in terms of the tank army, air force, and an efficient and fast mobilization call system for the reserved army. Meanwhile, many countries refused to supply weapons to Egypt except the Soviet Union. When Egypt begged the Soviet for advanced weapons including Scud missiles and MiG-23 fighter jets, the Soviet’s leader sarcastically said that Egypt needs these three things to go to war:

1. Weapons

2. Practice

3. Spirit

The leader also said, “You already have the first and the second.” At 2 p.m., on October 6th 1973, Operation Badr was launched and within 24 hours, about 850 tanks and hundred thousand Egyptian’s army had successfully crossed the Suez Canal. At the same time, Syrian’s army also launched a sudden attack at Golan Height. Israel got panicked as they thought that the Egyptians

Naruto Allegory: Uncovering the Manga Philosophy

Besides Allegory of the Cave, there are probably many who do not know about Socrates who used to refer to the sun and divided line as the analogy to explain about his philosophical ideas. In fact, the three allegories that Socrates used are interrelated with each other. For those who do not know, allegory refers to the metaphor that includes places, characters and events that are utilised as a medium to deliver messages and ideas, with a wider meaning.Practically, allegory has widely been used in history in variety of ways as a tool to explain concepts and ideas that are complex to make it easy for the readers, listeners or observers to digest the content.Kishimoto had a brief message embedded in the masterpiece, Naruto. He probably did not plan on instilling complex philosophy or concept in his masterpiece. But he has clearly stated:“It is hard for human to understand one another in the real world due to different culture and distinct way of being raised. As we grow older, we will realize that there are unsettling matters happened in our life. But, I created Naruto to tell the young generation that even with hardships in life, you would still be able to pass through it. Other than that, I prefer the readers to discover it by themselves, what they can get from Naruto.”Thus, Naruto can be an excellent medium for readers to understand some parts of philosophical ideas.

“The use of charms for revenge and malicious wills are one kind of dark magic other than curse and curtain rituals.” – R.O. Windstedt

During the colonial era, there were two British administrators in the Malay land that had the interest to study the mystical belief of the Malay people. When it comes to mentioning R.O. Windstedt and Wilkinson, they would usually be associated with the Malay’s mystical world. However, the knowledge about mystics is not new, it has existed even since the Malay’s animism era.

The knowledge about the Malay’s mystical world were even documented in Malay’s ancient books. The belief about spirits, ghosts, mystic rituals, ancient medicine, the use of spells, weaponry, supernatural matters and forecasting have already exist as the treasures in the palace library at that time, before it was dissolved by the two of them.

Now, their findings are once again being shown for the society. This is not an attempt to make Malay people to go against the sharia by the God, it is just a documentary about one particular phase in the Malay’s culture.

Titanic. A tragedy filled with blood and tears. The great “unsinkable” ship faced an unexpected tragic moment to the level that its story is famous in the world history. In the wake of the tragedy, the passengers were socializing and joking as if there were no tomorrow. This ship tells about the different classes of social degree. The upper classes gathered some elitism while the lower classes brought together a number of adventurers who aimed to transform their lives into an brighter new world.

Awfully, at 11.40pm on April 14, 1912, an unfortunate event awaits the ship and its passengers. In the middle of the frozen Atlantic Ocean, the ship looks like a small town waiting for its destruction. During the two hours and 40 minutes, the soul-dropping event ranged from parting families, musicians playing till the end of their lives, the captain surrendered his life in the ship’s wheelhouse, and the engineers died with the great ship.

Rajendra Chola is the name of the great king of southern India who once built a great empire that adorned Indian and Tamil history. Unfortunately, the great history is being used as a propaganda tool for a handful of people in Malaysia to manipulate everything related to the Malay civilization. We call this group as Chola. They are actively spreading their pseudo-history versions on the Internet, and even have their own version of history up to the ministers.

Malay civilization is being claimed. Ancient Malay Kingdoms that had Hinduism and Buddhism as their belief are being claimed as Tamil civilization just because they were once Hindu-Buddhist. A warrior must be born to defend his true history. An argument must be stacked neatly, so that later when dealing with this group, the actual history of the Malays can be enforced.

Then our prayer has been answered. A book that is written to straighten up the Malay history from the Chola cult has successfully been produced. Hopefully with the production of this book, the struggle to preserve the Malay history will have a better paradigm shift!

582 B.C. It is not a mere date. The Sungai Batu civilisation was built earlier than China been united by Qin Shi Huangdi. It is even before the birth of Alexander the Great conquering and building up empire; Julius Caesar building up the Rome empire; Asoka uniting the whole India; the birth of the Prophet Isa a.s. and Muhammad s.a.w. It is also thousand years earlier than the emergence of Malacca Sultanate and Srivijaya Empire.

Nonetheless, the fight to withstand the civilisation that is surrounded by palm forest is not a simple matter. It was filled with hardships and teardrops. Hence, this book is written to record the chronology from the moment the base was found by archaeologists, before the history activists tried to exclaim the greatness of the civilisation to all of Malaysians, telling them about the forgotten memoir.

This book is like a manuscript that tells the story of the Malay Kingdoms’ Game of Thrones. The game of thrones of the Malay civilization is akin to the game of thrones leading to war in Europe.

It is as thrilling as the stories of kingdoms fighting each other to build a nation like China. It is as great as the story of Sengoku period in Japanese history by which the warlords fought for the Shogun title to retain their name for 1000 more years.

A Brief History of Malay Civilization War takes you wander into the history of the Malay rulers with their politics, up to the exciting battles between the kingdoms that have a foothold in the Malay world. It is so unfortunate that the Malay’s chronicle is not exposed as great as the stories of European kings, Chinese emperors and even the Japanese shoguns, and it has been immersed in history.

Thus, Patriots Publishing comes out with a new book that explores the wars in Malay civilization as early as the time of Parameswara in Singapore until the modern age. It is filled with blood, tricks and romanticism of the stories of these kingdoms competed for the throne of the Malay world.
