The Lord be with you.

Prayer of Preparation

All Almighty God,to whom all hearts are open,

all desires known,and from whom no secrets are hidden:

cleanse the thoughts of our hearts

by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,

that we may perfectly love you,

and worthily magnify your holy name;

through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayers of Penitence

Sit or kneel We run the race set before us,

surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses.

Therefore let us lay aside every weight,

and the sin which clings so closely,

bringing them to Jesus in penitence and faith.

All Almighty God, our heavenly Father,

we have sinned against you

and against our neighbour in thought and word and deed,

through negligence, through weakness,

through our own deliberate fault.

We are truly sorry

and repent of all our sins.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ,

who died for us,

forgive us all that is past

and grant that we may serve you

in newness of life

to the glory of your name.

Almighty Father,whom truly to know is eternal life:

of your holy apostle Philip,

and walk steadfastly in the way that leads to your glory;

Ephesians 1.3-10

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus

Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual

blessing in the heavenly places, just as he chose us in

Christ before the foundation of the world to be holyand blameless before him in love. He destined us for

adoption as his children through Jesus Christ, according

to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of his

glorious grace that he freely bestowed on us in the

Beloved. In him we have redemption through his

blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to

the riches of his grace that he lavished on us.

With all wisdom and insight he has made known to us

the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure

that he set forth in Christ, as a plan for the fullness of time, to gather up all things in him, things in heaven and

The Gospel

John 1.43-end

Hear the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ accordingto John

All Glory to you, O Lord.

The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found

Philip and said to him, ‘Follow me.’ Now Philip was

from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip

found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found himabout whom Moses in the law and also the prophets

wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.’ Nathanael

said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’

Philip said to him, ‘Come and see.’ When Jesus saw

Nathanael coming towards him, he said of him, ‘Here is

truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!’ Nathanael

asked him, ‘Where did you come to know me?’ Jesus

answered, ‘I saw you under the fig tree before Philip

called you.’ Nathanael replied, ‘Rabbi, you are the Son

of God! You are the King of Israel!’ Jesus answered,‘Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under

the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.’And he said to him, ‘Very truly, I tell you, you will see

heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and

descending upon the Son of Man.’

Let us declare our faith in God, Father, Son andHoly Spirit.

All We believe in one God,

the Father, the Almighty,maker of heaven and earth,

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ

eternally begotten of the Father,

true God from true God,

begotten, not made,of one Being with the Father;

through him all things were made.For us and for our salvation he came down

from heaven,

was incarnate from the Holy Spirit and the

On the third day he rose again

in accordance with the Scriptures;

as we remember your promise

that when two or three are gathered in your nameyou are there in the midst of them,


For this place, that we may be still and know that you

are God,


For the fulfilling of our desires and petitions as you seebest for us,


For your blessings in the past and for a vision for

the future,


For the gift of the Holy Spirit and new life in baptism,


For the pardon of our sins when we fall short of

your glory,

in the sacrament of the eucharist,


For the blessing of our vowsand the crowning of our years with your goodness,

and for grace to persevere like them,

For a sense of our fellowship with St Philip our patron

and all your saints,

Preparation of the Table

Taking of the Bread and Wine

Heavenly Father,

as we set before you these gifts of bread and wine,

bless also the gift of our hearts and minds

as we offer our lives in your service;

for Jesus Christ’s sake.

The Eucharistic Prayer

The Lord be with you All and also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

All We lift them to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. All It is right to give thanks and praise.

It is indeed right,

our duty and our joy,

always and everywhere

to give you thanks,

almighty and eternal Father,enthroned upon the praises of your people.

We thank you for this house of prayer,

in which you bless your family

as we come to you in pilgrimage.

Here you reveal your presence in sacramental signs

and make us one with you through the unseen bond

of grace.

Here you build your temple of living stones

and bring the Church to its full stature

as the body of Christ throughout the world,to reach its perfection at last

in the heavenly city of Jerusalem,which is the vision of your peace.

Therefore, in union with the heavenly Jerusalem,

with angels in joyful assembly,

with all whose names are written in heaven

and with the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

we lift up our voices to join in the triumphal song

of praise:
