Paul Duvall & Dr Robert Blackwood: ‘The Ning Thing’ – Using a Social Network to Support the Year Abroad. Slides from the University of Liverpool Learning and Teaching Conference 2009. SOCLAS students require regular communication, advice and guidance during their year abroad from their named supervisors and other SOCLAS staff. They also need the facility to record entries in a log book at several key points during the year. This will hel them produce their assessed year abroad essay. In partnership with Educational Development a pilot project has been in place this year, which aims to deliver these requirements, using the social networking online platform ‘Ning’. This session will outline the concept, design and ongoing development of the network. This will include staff and student feedback on the current pilot and the proposed full scale strategy for the future.TRANSCRIPT
