From: Newport Beach, California Grew up in Sacramento, California
CAREER PATH
Went to the University of the Pacific and walked onto the Baseball team, leading the team with a .312 batting average In 1972.
Played 4 years of minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Cubs but his career was stopped short due to knee problems.
Boras returned to the University of the Pacific and earned his law degree in 1982.
He then went onto associate in the pharmaceutical defense department of the Chicago firm Rooks, Pitts & Poust. He defended drug companies against class-action lawsuits. He worked here for one year
In 1983 he started to focus fully on being a sports agent and negotiated one of the largest contracts in baseball history and started Boras Corp.
BECOMING A SPORTS AGENT/BIGGEST CHALLENGE
Boras decided to become a sports agent one day after spring training and he realized the people around him and him himself didn’t know their financial future. He was very adamant about providing for his parents back home so playing with a bum knee wasn’t very promising.
The biggest challenge for Boras is making sure that all of his clients get what they deserve and that they feel that they’re #1 in his heart.
WORKING/ADVICE
Scott Boras works 24 hours a day 7 days a week and 365 days a year just like every other sports agent.
“If you wake up and you don’t want to work , this job isn’t for you”
